I like playerFM: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en because you can download an episode without having to subscribe, which I like.
Pocket casts doesnt have a few podcasts other apps have, for me.
I use Player FM Podcast App. It's been my favorite and I've tried most of them. You can use a Google signin, there's web support and chromecast support.
Material design and easy searching, but the settings can be a little difficult to get through at first.
Definitely worth a shot. I found it and stuck with it.
And it's free without ads.
I have been using Player FM for a few years now. Highly recommended, it is feature rich, free and has no ads.
> The only benefit I see over Pocketcast is that it is free, syncs across devices without the need to make an account
Player FM is also free, syncs across devices using your Google account, and through either extremely advanced technology or perhaps magic is available in more countries than just the US and Canada.
Seeing how seldom Google likes to update their apps and how few features they have, I have zero hope that they will ever deliver a good podcast client. Their main focus seems to be automatic discovery of new episodes, something I rarely if ever am interested in anyway.
I quite liked PlayerFM when I was using it. There's a bit of a running joke that it ripped off Pocket Casts, but if it does the same thing and it's free why not try it out?
Player FM -This is the best FREE app with, NO ADS & GOOD UI.
Other free alternative : Podbean
Paid alternatives :
Podcast Go
I am using Player FM & I don't think you need paid apps. You are new, so start with free apps like Player FM.
Tip : If you right swipe on episode in player FM , It saves it in 'Play later'. Which means 'download for offline listening.'
Did you try player.fm ?(It's completely free without any ads) Player FM
Not sure about web version though. Try to log in here. https://player.fm
Top App : Player FM. Free podcast player which is feature rich, does everything that you could possibly want from a podcast player. if it doesn't, request it in the G+ community and the developers will respond to you, guaranteed. And they have THE BEST community in G+. It isn't full of fanboys, ready to attack you if you report a bug or criticize anything. It also has a fully featured web player. Free. And an iOS app is coming too. And you can listen to episodes without subscribing to channels.
Alternate : Pocket Casts, I guess. Everyone seems to like it.
Player FM is what I use and recommend now. It's ad-free, versatile and has some great options such as volume boost and rewind / fast forward support through Bluetooth controls. It also has fewer issues than Pocket Casts.
I strongly recommend Player FM.
I've used Stitcher, Pocket Casts, Overcast, and Apple Podcasts (I used to have a work iPhone in addition to my Android phone, so I've used both platforms), and by far, Player FM has the best functionality and is the most user-friendly.
TBH I HATED Stitcher. I honestly don't understand how Stitcher is a top Android podcasting app, other than that they've been around for a while. Stitcher might make sense if you're paying for premium content, but I thought the app was garbage with bad navigation.
Google's podcast library is still relatively new, so there might be a lot of things not on there. I also found the Play Music app to be a bit too simple to manage podcasts effectively.
Here is the app I use, called Player FM. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en
S-Town is on there, as well as Serial. And the really cool thing about this app is that if something isn't on there, you can add the feed manually, and then that feed becomes available to search for all the other users.
Player FM Podcasts is made for exactly what you want. Multiple playlists are available on beta, not sure if the normal version has them yet. But the catagory functions are what you are looking for.
Pocket Casts is obviously the popular choice, but a new player in town is Podcast Player, aka Player FM. It has great features and even tags podcasts according to category or interest. Definitely worth checking out.
I use the Player FM podcast app. I don't know if it is compatible with Sonos but it does have a ton of features so it might work. I love that it's simple and intuitive. You can search for podcasts in the catalog or import feeds directly. Individual shows can have customizable download settings, and you can view/play the entire back-catalog in a way that makes sense (Pocket Casts is a bit weird about this). It's free, but I pay for a membership that adds a few extra features like syncing between devices, but mainly because this is one of those apps where I really want to help out the developers.
Player.FM doesn't get a ton of attention compared to the "big" apps, but I find it to be powerful and customizable, with the free tier providing all the subscription management and playback features you could want. And the UI is simple and clean, unlike most podcast apps on Android, which for some reason are nearly all a mess.
I don't know if they are on Amazon. I use a podcast app on my Android called Player FM. In the app you just search for the name of the podcast you are interested in and you can add it to your list.
I really enjoy Player FM. It has a user-friendly interface and you can adjust playback speed by as little as 1/10x (e.g. you can playback audio at 0.9x, 1.0x, 1.1x, 1.2x, etc.). I'm not really a "podfaster" but this is a great option for slowing down podcasts with fast talkers or speeding up podcasts with very slow talkers. It also gives you a couple different default views for finding your shows, so each separate subscription is just a tap away (but like, even more so than other apps I've used). I'm a former Apple Podcasts user back when I had an iPhone, and I HATED Stitcher on Android. Player FM has done the trick for me.
PlayerFm has everything you need and more plus you can find and organize podcasts easily but check out 'The Moth' for great and true storytelling.
That should hold you for a while...
You should grab Player FM I discovered it recently and its the best podcast app I've found since DoggCatcher. Magnus Archives are available on it
I used pocketcasts for a long time and have now settled on using PlayerFM. Pocketcasts might be prettier but I prefer PlayerFM ease of use. It is also free.
χρησιμοποιώ το Player FM
Από Podcasts Collider , Schmoeskow που έγραψα είναι για ταινίες και τηλεόραση . Και το The history of Ancient GREECE για ιστορία και μυθολογία
I'm surprised no one recommended player.fm. In addition to being able to sort and make custom playlists, it has a web app (www.player.fm) that syncs with the android app. Oh and it's free.
the podcast app was: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en_GB podcast player free, by playerFM
Another one was filechef https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zqlabs.filechef&hl=en_GB
they were the only 2 I remember from the 4. I wasnt the OP. I kept the podcast one as it was/is good.
PlayerFM is free with a nice UI (customizable with themes), very actively developed, cloud synced. How it stays free (with no IAPs or display ads) is beyond me. Never even tried PocketCasts cause I have no need to. Podcast Addict was OK, but seemed a bit buggy when I tried it.
Edit: somebody already mentioned it I guess, but I second it.
mainly cause u can see the episodes of a podcast without subscribing first. I think u have to do that in PocketCasts (not sure tho, haven't use it in a long time).
I think there are some decent free podcast apps you should try, just to see if podcasts can be a thing for you. Try this one, best of the free ones WITHOUT ads!
I've been using and enjoying Podcast Player (used to be called Player.fm). It's entirely free and has a lot of options including desktop playback.
The only things I dislike are the fact there is no sync between desktop player and app and you can't easily mark large batches of old episodes as listened. Otherwise it shows a "2 weeks" since the last unlistened episode.
Checked it out; along with Player FM and Stitcher Radio. UI wise, I liked Player FM the most. Any opinion on this?
Player.fm They take all feed back and work with you if you email them regarding an issue you have plus material and syncing and all that great stuff.
Hey, no problem. I've found a couple of good YouTube channels for old Art Bell episodes...in addition to the one that put that one up, if you search for a channel called Supernova Red that seems to be taken down and re-uploaded pretty regularly, but has quite a few shows. I also found an app just called Podcast App that has a channel called "Art Bell Archives" with over 1,300 episodes indexed by air date.
Another thing I like about Wear Casts is they partnered with a podcast app called Player FM, which is just like Pocket Casts. You can send individual episodes from Player FM to Wear Casts, so you can still have a full featured podcast app on your phone, then send episodes to Wear Casts to listen offline.
AFAIK, Wear Casts is the only Wear OS podcast app that doesn't use Exoplayer for audio playback so it should, in theory, get the best battery life.
Wear Casts is probably not the app you are looking for. You want to download Player FM or PocketCasts which are podcast apps that run on the phone. I know Player FM allows you to control playback on your watch.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
Wear Casts runs on a watch only.
You can cancel your purchase here:
One thing I like about Wear Casts is that I use Player FM to listen to podcasts on my phone but I can send individual episodes from Player FM to Wear Casts to listen offline on my watch.
Player FM.
You should check out Player FM. You can send podcast episodes from Player FM to Wear Casts
I've only used PocketCasts to try it out once in a while, but I never could like it before and after all of these changes. If I remember right, you have to enable certain settings I don't want in order to access or download older episodes. I've always preferred PlayerFM for podcasts.
If I recall, when I tried it a few years ago, Stitcher would insert their own audio ads in the middle of episodes. Between that and the shoddy app, I can't fathom why anyone uses it.
Player FM is an excellent option. One benefit, is that they also have a web interface, so you can listen on a computer when it's convenient. Their user forum is also great, with devs being really responsive to feature requests and bug reports, often fixing/adding stuff within a few days.
I find Player FM to be good as a free option.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player

Some of the upgrade features are what you would expect but for how i consume podcasts its now better than pocketcasts for me. I don't listen to every podcasts episode, i just like to have the most recent 3 downloaded ready to go for my subscriptions.
I've been trying out Player FM and loving it. Reminds me of the old PC with a more modern skin, does everything I need. Cannot stand Castbox so for now I'll keep using Player FM.
Have you tried Player FM? It's just as good as PocketCasts and they partnered with Wear Casts, so if you have both installed on your phone you can send episodes from Player FM to the Wear Casts phone app and it will automatically be sent to the Wear Casts' watch app.
PocketCasts has had offline watch functionality on their "to do" list for years. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it anytime soon. Player FM and Wear Casts is as close as you're going to get.
Player FM also has an extensive archive of podcasts so you can find old episodes that aren't listed anymore.
L'application Player FM dispose de ces fonctionnalités, et permet de modifier également le comportement (nombre de secondes à passer, etc.). Et l'application est géniale.
There's a podcast app for Android Wear that allows offline listening. You could probably load an mp3 on there:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
I suggest it because every podcast app I've used is able to save my spot. I haven't tried this one though.
E: there is also a Tizen audiobook app:
I've been using Player.fm. There is web support. There is an option to download podcasts to external storage. There is a search feature. There is a skip forward and a skip back feature. There is a vilume boost. I like it. You might too.
I believe Player FM can do that, but it's a premium feature which is $10/yr. I think you'll have to join the beta in order to get that feature and I'd also recommend joining the beta Google+ comminity.
There are some paid apps like pocketcasts , Pixelcast, podcast addict , podcast go.
There are free apps , but they have ads.If you want a free podcast app without any ads , This is one of the best app. 'Player Fm'
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
I don't know about that whats my friend listening feature. Because , i use this app without logging in. You can save podcast episodes , by adding them to 'Play later'. You can search different podcast by topics also.
Other alternative that is free & doesn't have any ads is.. podbean https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.podbean.app.podcast
This is, in my opinion, the best free podcast app on the market. I'm also a Pocketcasts user, but Player.fm has features that PC doesn't have like being able to view your history, being able to stream podcasts over the internet instead of downloading them, and a podcast recommendation assistant to help you find similar podcasts.
There are some pretty good podcast apps for Android. I personally use Player.fm. They have a pretty wide catalog of podcasts, and you can request other podcasts to be added as long as you have an RSS feed URL, which you can easily get from the podcast's website or iTunes.
I've been using Podcast FM, Free, no ads, pretty nice.
I bought BeyondPod years ago when there wasn't much else out there, but PFM has been getting all the use lately.
"Far fewer features" should have a huge qualifier.
It does have a lot fewer customization options since its UI successfully strives for simplicity and ease of use, that's absolutely true.
But it also has incredibly useful and important features that the vast majority of other players simply do not offer at all.
What other podcast clients offer real push notifications rather than clunky and energy and data consuming local feed polling?
What other clients offer cross-device sync?
What other clients offer a web client with "resume where you left it" seamless device switching?
Those aren't rhetorical questions, those are killer features (especially the push service) and I'd be genuinely interested in hearing about alternatives with at least some of those features. I'm only aware of Podcast Player so far, there may be others.
~~Player FM (red icon with a white microphone)~~Podcast Player is my favorite Podcast app for Android. Has everything I want and need with a great UI.
Edit: Apparently name and logo changed.
What about pocket casts is so special that it's worth $4 plus subscription? I've been using Player FM, which seems to look almost identical and perform all the same features including web sync, all free.
Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
I can honestly recommend FM Player
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
I've tried most of free podcast apps, including BeyondPod, and I like this one best. I think it deserves more love that it gets. Plus dev is pretty responsive and updates app regularly.
A couple people are reccommending Podcast Addict, but I switched from that to Player FM (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en) due to problems getting some Podiobooks to work on Podcast Addict and I have nothing but good things to say about the app or its interface. It also has a web client linked to your Google account so you can listen to Podcasts from web browsers as well.
A great rival to Podcast Addict is Player.fm. It has a better layout, a web app, faster podcast updating, and more feature filled discovery options.
Player FM includes all that you mentioned for free. It's only limit is 20 subscriptions. I only listen to a few podcasts, so this isn't an issue for me. There doesn't appear to any reason for me to switch. Thanks though!

Everyone is complaining about Pocket Casts so I'll recommend Player FM which has both mobile and web apps with syncing.
I'm using Player FM. The one reason I won't buy Pocket Casts is - I have to pay a second time (that too, $9) for desktop access.
Player.fm is all you ever need for podcast on Android.
~~Linkme: player.fm~~
Player FM is the best free podcast app. It has material design and no ads.
Check Player FM instead.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
Its Ad-free and has all the major features. +-15 seek forward etc..
Podcast Player is what you're looking for. It lets you subscribe to topics (not just things like Tech and Music, but specific sub-areas like Android, Programming, IT Industry, and individual musical genres). Additionally, each subscription you follow will suggest related podcasts.
There's also offline playback and a web interface to go along with the usual podcasting staples like playback speed adjustment, sleep timers, and chromecast support. And it's free, with no ads. You can't go wrong.
Another one to check out is Stitcher, which tries to be a sort of Pandora for podcasts. Or, if all you listen to is NPR, the NPR One app does the same "personalized episode discovery" thing with nothing but NPR shows.
I use Player FM on Android.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en_US
PlayerFM works great for me, by itself or in conjunction with Android Auto.
This one is great https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player Been using it for some time now and it's flawless.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
It has something like 1300 episodes.
Radio24syvs app er elendig. Jeg bruger "Player FM" til mine podcasts. Både offline og stream.
Player FM is sooo good. Best one in my opinion.
Player FM is great. Wear OS support too. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
Player.fm is the best I've seen till date. All features included. Free and no ads.

AndroidのPodCastアプリで9/1の前川ッちの番組が来ない。
同じ番組の金子勝のコーナーだけは来たけどアンコンされたか
Pocket Casts does not have that feature. I believe Player FM has both sync and search.
I'm on Android and I use Player FM, Good App and Desktop/Web Based player too:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en_GB
I'm using Player FM (Android) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
I use player.FM syncs across web and phone
Player FM Beta. It's been my podcast app for a long time now.
Currently using PlayerFM which syncs with their web service.
Alternatively, SoundWaves is pretty good, too. Fully open source, available from F-droid as-well as the playstore.
Huh, bummer. I'm guessing you're listening on http://www.idlethumbs.net/terminal7, yeah? I'll mention it to our web guy but to prevent future issues (and have episodes delivered to you as soon as they're out), a free Android podcast player like this (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en) and our handy RSS would let you dodge similar future issues:
You can download them individually from the Radiolingua website.
You can subscribe to the podcast using the Player.FM feed and their Android app.
You could also try the Spanish Podcasts app which includes Coffee break Spanish among others.
in My opinion by ALL measures " Podcast Player " is the best Free - No Ads - Great UX - Full features and more . https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en
Try Player FM
*edit app name
I was just wondering that myself. Google search gave me this app with no annoying ads:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en
https://player.fm/series/totalbiscuit
https://player.fm/series/the-co-optional-podcast-56662
It seriously needs to be added to google play podcasts.
Player FM is a more than reasonable, free alternative.
Pocket Cast is well-recommended. Another one is Player FM.
Player.fm is also a really, really good and free (for now) podcast app.
I've been using Player FM for about 7 years. Their customers support is super responsive. Check it out!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&referrer=utm_source%3Dapp_share
Podcast FM player pro has a compression by compressing it on their servers so being the in between of the RSS and your player. Good luck.
Been using Player FM on my android phone. New episodes have been pushed hourly. It's been great 👍.
I'm a big fan of Player FM

Player FM. Yes, I know it sounds like a radio app, but it's actually a really good podcast app! And free, too!
Player FM also has this capability if you enable the "continuous play" option under playback settings.
I use Player FM and it has bookmarks. I've preferred it over Pocket Casts for years now.
Use Player FM - Best free podcast app without any ads.
Ehm, nope. Here's the actual link to player.FM
I swore by Podcast Addict but tried a few others on a whim and happened upon Player FM. Straightforward, looks great.
In the Google Play store it redirects me to Podcast Player.. is that it?
(edited for hyperlink)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
I didn't know about this app. I just installed it and it looks nice.
Try Podcast Player.
For podcast app, try Player FM. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
I've been using Player FM https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en
Haven't used Podcast Addict though so I can't compare them.
No problem. If you need similar functionality for podcasts Player FM has good AndroidWear support too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player&hl=en_GB
> Podcast Republic
I use Player FM. Free. Has a web player. + They are building an iOS app too.
Here is what I listen to it on: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
You can stream them or download them them just search it.
I would say the best free Android podcast application available is Player FM.
gplay store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.player
Player FM is amazing. They have a web interface as well, which is nice.
I like Player FM a lot. Once in a while I've had an issue when connecting or disconnecting from my bluetooth headphones mid-episode, but it otherwise the app works super smoothly and is very customizable.
If you're an android user, this app gathers up a bunch of podcasts based on your preferences, then downloads the latest episodes whenever you're on wifi. I've discovered a few new shows, and it's pretty convenient.
