Reddit extension for muzei
I use muzei with the reddit extension. You can have Muzei switch your wallpaper every set interval (30 mins, 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day, 2 days, etc.). You can use your photos or random art provided by Muzei. With the reddit extension, you can have a random rotation of wallpapers from different subreddits. /r/wallpapers, /r/spaceporn, /r/earthporn are some of the best ones.
I'm guessing Muzei, which you can set up to pull wallpapers from subreddits with this extension.
For Android phones you can install the Muzei Live Wallpaper app and then get the APOD plug-in:
It'd be awesome to have this sort of feature on my PC, though.
Edit: thanks for the gold! :D
Using Muzei Live Wallpaper and the reddit extention.
Skip Tasker altogether and use Muzei with the Reddit plugin. By far the best solution, Muzei allows for image blur, dim and desaturation, and you can configure it to cycle every x hours/days.
Tip: Use Muzei and Reddit - Muzei to automatically change your wallpaper from this sub.
You have to open Muzei, choose "Pics from Reddit" and select the subs you want (in this case r/AmoledBackgrounds). You can also set the interval i.e. automatically have the wallpaper change every 60 minutes, etc
On Android I use Muzei Live Wallpaper with this Reddit extension.
You can try Muzei. Then install this extension: [link], that can get pictures from images subreddits. /r/earthporn will have that kind of images.
Muzei is great too, install this reddit plugin and it pulls images from the awesome photo subreddits
I like Muzei for wallpaper discovery, especially combined with the Reddit plugin that let's you specify subs to grab new images from.
Note: I think there's an open bug where it crashes on nexus 6.
Check out Muzei with the Reddit plugin
If you combine it with Muzei, it is amazing. You can have a source for wallpapers, and it switches every now and then (you can even use subreddits as sources if you have this thing), and your watch has the same wallpaper.
Muzei can do that easily with the Reddit addon
this [link] along with this: [link]
is much easier than IFTT. Allows you to put in whatever subreddits you want & it will cycle through the top posts of them all.
Muzei is the defacto standard I belive. It's free and it supports plugins, so add a plugin for whatever tickles your fancy.
When I'm not using that, I use Tapet because it generates lovely wallpapers. I paid the tiny fee for the Pro version and don't regret it all. Tapet will work standalone or as a plugin to Muzei.
I'll do you one better: [link]
You pick the subreddits it subscribes to and it will cycle your wallpapers through top posts of those subreddits at an interval of your choosing.
I've got mine subbed to /r/earthporn /r/spaceporn and /r/exposureporn and it switches every half hour.
Here's links for anybody interested.
Reddit plugin for Muzei
What I use personally is the IFTTT recipe to change my wallpaper the NASA photo of the day. [link]
I also like muzei [link]
I like Muzei. You can you use your own photos or even images from Reddit subs using various plugins. Plus you can select how often you want the wallpaper to change.
If you get an app called Muzei, and then an addon called Muzei - Reddit, you can achieve the same thing. You can also autimatically blur or dim the photo, and there are multiple options for sources and refresh intervals. Just set Muzei as your lockscreen in settings.
Android: Muzei App with APOD Muzei app
A different space related picture every day.
I use Muzei too since the auto blur feature is amazing. It helps make all the icons and widgets standout from the background.
Here's the link for anyone interested: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nurik.roman.muzei&hl=en
Honestly, I just use Muzei and the pics from reddit plugin. I dislike having a single wallpaper all the time.
I'd probably recommend Muzei with a plugin. I do something similar, but I use foldersync to sync files from the cloud to my phone and use a folder plugin to accomplish the same.
Cheer bro. Yeah, the background to the clock annoys me sometimes, but i have wallpapers on rotation, using Muzei and some of them make it hard to see the clock. so it's just a blank zooper widget with a bit of transparency. lol. contemplating alternatives. :)
You can use Muzei with an Instagram plugin
It's most likely the blur feature of the Muzei wallpaper app!
Link me: Muzei Live Wallpaper
EDIT: Oops, turns out the link me bot doesn't work on this sub. Anyway, here's the app: Muzei Live Wallpaper
Just use Muzei with Vitrina. Much more user friendly and easier to configure.
Would it be possible to make your app compatible with the same image souces used by Muzei Live Wallpaper? The code and API is open, so it seems like a convenient way to have a lot of potential sources for your app.
I recommend the app Muzei for this! [link]
If you search in the Play Store for "Muzei" you can find plenty of plugins for it that can cycle wallpapers throughout the day. Pretty sure you can set it up with locally stored photos too.
I'm currently using Muzei with Reddit for Muzei to get pretty much the same effect with subreddits I pick
Does anybody know which is better? :p
I'm not sure if blurring the background is the responsibility of the launcher, I suggest using Muzei instead. Nevertheless, I've noted it, and will see how feasible it is.
Why not just use the standard wallpapers and let the phone use parallax scrolling?
I used to use all of these ones, coupled with Muzei.
I had Muzei for awhile ([link]). Installed Meter ([link]) a few weeks ago while I was still rocking my Nexus 5, liking it so far on my n5x.
What I did was put them all in one folder and used Muzei and Folder for Muzei to rotate them daily. I love a fresh wallpaper waiting for me in the morning :)
I use a combination of Muzei and The Terra Collection for a rotating carousel of a bunch of high-res Google Earth satellite images (not unlike the Earth View for Chrome extension). It's pretty neat, and fits with the theme of this year's Nexus devices, whose stock wallpapers are Earth View images.

Muzei with the Reddit extension has a better interface and fewer bugs.
Muzei with the reddit plugin set to rotate between /r/earthporn and /r/spaceporn.
You can also easily do this with Muzei and Nasa image of the day extension.
For wallpaper apps, Muzei with the reddit addon is great.
I use Muzei! It scans subreddits for wallpapers and changes every 30mins. You also double tap empty space to bring the photo into and out of focus. Pretty cool stuff.
I don't have any specific wallpapers but you could try what I use which is muzei with the reddit plugin. You can set it to pick images from this sub and see what happens.
I tried activating it a few days ago before I got the case and could not. The wallpaper functions Very similarly to Muzei though, so that's an option if you'd like a blurred or not blurred slideshow of your images rotating after a set period of time.
Muzei and Muzei - Reddit for updating your watch face with top pics from reddit every so often
You can use this along with
to automatically pull photos from whatever subreddit you want, and rotate them as wallpapers on your phone.
It may negatively affect battery life tho.
its not an app you can use...though there are plenty of live wallpapers that can do this.
Muzie and its plug-ins is probably the most well known ones. this and the 500 firepaper plug in is amazing.
There's a Muzei extension that does exactly this. It pulls locations from earth view and sets them as background.
Muzei Earth View
On Android you can install Muzei and the Muzei reddit plugin. Then it's just a matter of setting your wallpaper to Muzei, choosing reddit as the source, and setting your desired subreddits.
Have you tried muzei? That links to a lot of wallpaper apps and it can be set up to change the wallpaper automatically.
Muzei Link: [link]
Do you get any live wallpapers you installed from Play store or anywhere else in that list? Muzei for example. That doesn't work for my Mix 2 or any other device I have seen.
Muzei dude. [link]
You can even set it to choose specific subreddit pictures with this add on: [link]
Do you know Muzei? With the reddit plugin it automatically grabs images from your favorite subreddit.
Muzei - [link]
It has lots of plugins that allow you to cycle through wallpapers from different sources like Reddit or Instagram. You can also cycle through your own of course.
AutoBackground - [link]
It's kinda like Muzei but with better functionality for your personal pictures. Some really neat effects and such. Also supports imgur gallerys, Google drive, Google photo, and other stuff.
Not OP, but I'm pretty sure s/he's using an app called Muzei. There's a plugin for it on the Play Store, which shuffles wallpapers from subreddits you choose, like /r/wallpapers or /r/earthporn.
OK, for Muzei: install this [link]
And this add-on (there's lots of others). Set it to your favorite subreddit, change the refresh rate, blur, and dim!
FractalPorn is the source via Muzei with the Reddit extension. It changes my wallpaper every 6 hours or however often you would like.
Alternitivly you can use Muzei and the free Reddit extension to do it. You also have the option for more galleries, multiple subreddits, and a cool blur/darken effect on the picture that you can clear up by double tapping the wallpaper.
If you didn't know this, there is an app that allows you to pull photo submissions to specific subreddits and have them cycle through as your background wallpaper. You can set refresh intervals, toggle between NSFW posts ;) and add your own photos into the mix. Doesn't apply to this situation directly, but is extremely useful and uses minimal data & battery. App is Musei and the reddit extension to do the above is here.
I would recommend /r/tiltshift. Makes for awesome phone wallpapers.
If you have an Android phone, all you need is an app called Muzei and this extension to it. From there when you change your wallpaper to Muzei, you'll get a list of sources, choose the reddit extension you just download and choose your subs and refresh rate!
Yes there are many apps that can automatically change your wallpaper. Do it too frequently, though, and you'll drain your battery.
Muzei is a popular one.
I use the app Muzei. It gives me a new wallpaper periodically. I use a NASA extension to get the NASA pic of the day so I don't have it anymore.
TL;DR Here you go.
A suggestion, download Muzei Live Wallpaper. Within that app, you can select the CandyCons pack and it will let you cycle through all of it's wallpaper based on whatever time increment you set.
EDIT: I added a slight blur to the wallpaper. That can be done through Muzei.
I used Muzei, don't ask me how to pronounce it, I've had it for a year and still don't know how and This
Personally I use the app Muzei with the pics for reddit extension. Free and works wonderfully.
You have to install the app along with its reddit extension. It was last updated in 2014 I think but it still works fine for me.
Here's a link to the wallpaper app that auto sets it for you
And then there's a separate app for pulling the images from Reddit here:
I use Muzei as a wallpaper picker with the Muzei Ghibli add on. I get beautiful backgrounds from the Studio Ghibli films, all scaled perfectly in great resolution, and I have it so the wallpaper changes every day. I absolutely love it, I highly suggest you check it out, I haven't looked back.
edit: added link to the Studio Ghibli add on
I just personally use Muzei to have changing wallpapers. Nifty app, plus you can use wallpapers from subreddits using an extension.
If you're on android, there is an app called Muzei which allows you to automate the changing of your background from a number of sources. My background is always National Geographic's photo of the day.
Is it possible to work like Muzei(android app: [link]) where the application is extensible and people/other devs can add different sources to pull images from?
I use Muzei with Muzei Earth View Wallpapers as the source.
Launcher: Lenovo Launcher
Wallpaper: Muzei Live Wallpaper with Muzei Music Extender
The wallpaper changes depending on the album art of the current song playing.
I've been using Muzei with the 500px plugin for a while.
For android Muzei.
And Reddit Muzei add-on to get images from subreddits.
Depends on the wallpaper. If it's one that has moving images and other crap, then yeah. If it's something like Muzei that intermitendly rotates your wallpaper with internet sources, it's hardly noticeable. I use Muzei every day and regularly get 3.5-4 hours SOT.
Muzei. Highly recommend it.
Famous artwork by default, but you can also specify a folder on your phone or even pull from other services via plugins.
You might want to try Muzei instead of Wonderwall. It has options to blur and dim the background images and the home screen icons are much more visible and almost float above the background. There are many Muzei add-ons for adding new wallpaper sources.
Use Muzei with the reddit extension to get wallpapers that cover all homescreens. I use it and have it change the wallpaper daily from /r/EarthPorn, /r/spaceporn and many others.
Muzei + Terra means you'll always have really high quality google earth images.
Muzei and Terra
Yep, Muzei & the Reddit plugin will do this.
Muzei works very well and you can add other modules to it for a ton of options. I personally use dropzei which is a Dropbox link and I have a massive collection of wallpapers on there! you can find it here!
You'll need to download this app [link] and this app [link] .After that go to wallpapers and select muzei. Make sure you change your source to bing and all check the customization settlings to apply a blur or tint effect ( I personally set them both to 0 because I like seeing the wallpaper unfiltered).
You can also use Muzei with the Muzei reddit addon.
If you want to use it to it's full potential, I encourage you to get Muzei and set nowPaper as your source. This allows the wallpaper to cyle with the time of day, and you get a randomize option or 4K option as well.
Download and install Muzei
Download and install the Pics From Reddit Extension
Edit the subreddits section to pull in pictures from /r/ManchesterUnitedMuzei as well as /r/reddevils
no, IFTTT is a very powerful engine, Muzei is merely a wallpaper app that can load random pieces of artwork, or pics from subreddits or APOTD from Nasa. check it out, nthing special, just a wallpaper app:
I use Muzei live wallpaper with Muzei-Reddit. You can pick any subreddit to cycle pictures from.
Why not instead use Muzei with the Reddit extension? I'll bet it's more reliable, along with an easier interface (especially if you want more than /r/EarthPorn).
Theres a great android app which I use called Muzei which changes your wallpaper dependent on selected sources,
one of which can be reddit through use of this.
Install Muzei first then the reddit source, launch muzei and select the source, and customize the reddit source for the subreddits you're after.
Hope this helps.
I use Muzei and Muzei - Reddit for my wallpaper on my Android phone with /r/AnimalPorn being the only subreddit source. Between the bee and spider pics I'm becoming quite frightened once every twelve hours (the frequency at which my wallpaper changes). Great shots though.
Muzei is great if you want to cycle through wallpapers. Can also be linked to subreddits to pull top posts.
Base is also a good source for wallpapers.
Muzei Live Wallpaper
Muzei - Reddit (extension for Muzei app)
So I think I figured out the app OP was talking about. Its call Muzei here with the reddit addon here
Hope this helps!
You may want to check out muzei [link] if you are on Android. It has a reddit plugin [link]
I use Muzei combined with this to get random pictures from reddit as my wallpaper.
Muzei with the Reddit plugin may be right up your alley. It's extensible, so chances are there's an extension for you that'll do what you need.
