I thought it was disturbing too, like RJ absorbed the other characters like some terrible alpaca nightmare.
But aaaahhh this is all adorable! AND MANG!!
So...if you don't mind some oddity. It's a passive clicking game and the alpaca/giraffe changes shape.
On the play store they have three different versions: alpaca evolution, alpaca evolution (beginning or something), and giraffe evolution.
The others will pop up in related for the alpaca evolution.
There are a few I'd recommend, all weird Japanese games involving cute animals. If you're learning Japanese these will help--if not, I think you can still enjoy them.
(Almost no Japanese reading required to enjoy!)
Alpaca Evolution is frankly disturbing. You start as an innocent alpaca grazing in a field, but then realize that the only way to move forward is to consume and absorb the bodies of your alpaca friends. The gameplay is very simple--it's meant to occupy time when you're waiting between everyday tasks--but the story is very strange. Don't worry, you can read it in English, although knowing some Japanese is helpful to understand some dialogue and sound effects. The company behind this, COCOSOLA, has several other weird-ass games as well but I haven't tried those.
(Higher reading level required, but if you can't read Japanese you can still infer a lot from images. I recommend you read the game guides if you aren't able to read the game material easily.)
The Mitchiri Neko Mix series is ridiculously cute. (The name is pretty great too: "みっちり" means "earnestly" or "intensely," so I guess the English translation would be something like "Cat Madness.")
The main premise: You have a jar, and you have some tiny cats. You combine these cats in the jar to create new varieties by some bizarre opposite form of mitosis. The first couple (みっちりねこミックス and みっちりねこミックス2) even give you phone wallpapers based on the cat characters when you meet certain achievements in the game! In the third one (みっちりねこ研究所, or Mitchiri Neko Laboratory) the gameplay becomes more complex, with cat seeds introduced and varieties of cat food playing a role in breeding outcomes.
Some guides and spreadsheets for the Mitchiri Neko series can be found on this blog, but I recommend trial and error as a first approach and only using the spreadsheet when you're truly stuck on the last few cats.
Oh, and did I mention that Mitchiri Neko is full of punny names and silly descriptions of cats? It really made learning Japanese more fun for me.
(Intermediate reading level)
ねこあつめ (Cat Collector) is also a game of collecting cats, but there's no breeding involved. You simply wait for stray cats to enter your yard, and entice them with fancy food and toys. In your album you collect snapshots of these cats, and try to get all the varieties. It's a game that requires some patience and good timing, as you have to arrange your yard just so, wait for the cats to arrive, and check your phone often enough to catch them for a picture. This game is a great way to be a cat lady without the responsibility, especially since the cats aren't captive like in the Mitchiri Neko games. You don't have to worry about forgetting to feed them and coming back to a jar of sad cats--they will simply leave your yard when the food is gone, presumably to go bother someone else.
Heres's my favorite cat, まんぞくさん, or "Mr. Satisfaction" in English. Just look at that chubby little guy. He's a little shit who eats all the food, but I can't help but like him.
So, there you have it! Alpaca monsters, cat mitosis, and Cat Lady Simulator.
The gameplay, other than the cutscenes, stamina, and talk mechanic, is identical to another series of games where you make giraffes and alpacas eat or perform reverse mitosis on (it depends on what game you're playing and what level of mutation/evolution you're at in the game) other giraffes and alpacas so the one you're controlling evolves into something weird.
Of course, I'm talking about Alpaca Evolution and I am Giraffe, but there are other games out there with the same core gameplay of those two, such as My Cutie Devil and many of the games by Cats Apps. Actually, it's not just the core gameplay. All the games like these are pretty much identical in every way except developer/publisher, graphics, and sound, even if deep and rich storylines are advertised for them.
this reminds me of those alpaca game from the android market. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Beltheva.Alpaka&hl=en
