Depends on what organization you donate to, if it’s the Red Cross, get the app, and you will 100% be notified of that units journey.
Edit: putting this into parent comment as well
If you have a donor card (unless it’s the NBCS card, which is mostly red), and a smart phone, you can use the Donor ID to log in to the app. It’ll show you the last time you donated, the next time you can donate, and all your vitals from your last 30 donations
lots of people are having trouble finding the app
Looks like they might be US only as well

Additionally, you can install the Blood Donor app by the America Red Cross (iTunes and Play Store) to manage your appointments, find the closest donation center, and receive reminders if you are eligible to donate again, or if your blood type is in demand.
I'm in the U.S., I get text. I use this app: Blood donor
Thanks for stepping up!
Create a Red Cross blood donor account on their desktop site and use that to sign into the mobile Blood Donor app. The desktop scheduling UI is terrible.
That will let you see all their blood donation centers as well as all the nearby drives.

That said, thankfully lots of people have heeded the call for blood donors so a shortage has been averted for now. Your appointment could very well get cancelled; my girlfriend's did the day before. And you'll probably have to schedule it for a few weeks out!
Do you know your blood type already by any chance? If not, do you know your parents' blood types?

On Android, download that. Sign up with the email you gave them. It will show your blood type.
Yeah, this won't work if you're not allowed to give blood for some reason. As for the time schedule barrier, I found this American Red Cross app that might speed up the scheduling process. This app also helps find specific groups. Here's a 24/7 app is supposed to always be available, it's also supposed to let you contact who you're donating for. Scheduling or walking in to give a donation should take a day's time or less to do.
