Why not just use CDisplay? It's been the go-to Comic Reader for over a decade, and is free. :)
For Android, there's Perfect Viewer.
Do you really want a comic reader app from IGN? It'd probably be full of advertisements injected every 2nd page, mine every single movement you make for data, and hog about 3GB RAM. No, thanks, official doesn't always mean better. ;)
The download system is indeed abysmal, though.
I'm gonna assume that since you're looking for an APK, I assume you're asking about a reader for CBRs and CBZs? If so, Perfect Viewer is about as perfect as you're gonna get.

Don't steal, though. Not cool.
PerfectViewer from the Android store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer&hl=en_US
Android tablet with Perfect Viewer. It allows you to stream most known filetypes over my WiFi, which means my 100+ gig collection doesn't clog up my tablet's minuscule space.
LInks for the lazy
I use PerfectViewer with its PDF plugin.
I usually download the files directly from the JoJo's Colored Adventure site and read them in phone using Perfect Viewer.
PerfectViewer allows for access over LAN without having the comics be on the device. I've found it in general to be very fast and responsive, although accessing comics over LAN can be a little slow (my tablet is a Galaxy Tab 10.1 v1 so it's pretty old at this point though)
Unless you have a VPN set up between your Nexus and your PC you would have to be on your PC's local wifi network, and you would need to be able to access your PC via it's local IP (192.168.1.something usually).
If you want online applications, check Tachiyomi. You have to download the apk from Github, and searches for scans from various websites. HOWEVER, I have noticed that in my case (Likebook Mars) it's draining too much battery, is really slow, and a it reboots after a bit, I don't know why.
What I always recommend, is Perfect Viewer. It doesn't search online, it's only for offline files (cbr, cbz, rar, zip, etc) but it has perfect compatibility with epaper readers unlike almost anything else I have tried. It's a bit complicated to learn all of its functions, but it has nearly every customization options you might need.
So, personally, I use my ereader with Perfect Viewer whenever I want to read a new series, and for a few pages of a new chapter of ongoing series, I just read them with Tachiyomi on my phone.
You can also read them on your computer. :) Just use CDisplay.
On any random Android tablet you can use Perfect Viewer. I read comics on my tablet all the time. :)
Perfect Viewer - I've not used it in years, my Play Store review is dated 2012. But it was great then, and is still being updated.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer
Edit: typo
Why go to the trouble of converting them to .mobi? Just use .cbr and .cbz format (they are simply numbered jpegs in a rar or zip archive and renamed) and use a regular comic viewer like Perfect Viewer.
I have that exact same tablet and will happily recommend it as well as a comic reader. The screen is beautiful for the price point and the main reason I upgraded from my older TF100.
As for readers I use Perfect Viewer. The TF700 isn't exactly a processing powerhouse anymore so I find this app is nice and light and doesn't slow things down. It's got a wide range of reading formats too. It's free, or $3.00 for the donate version.
Perfect Viewer, I've been using it for years, and it has never failed me. Also it's completely free.
It's recently got the much needed graphics overhaul, and is sporting the Material design pretty well.
It supports LAN, and FTP setups so you can access your comics from anywhere. Takes a bit to setup at first, but once it's ready you don't ever have to touch it again.
The options to add LAN and FTP settings is located under:
If you have an old phone or tablet that you're turning into your comic book reader, and it's not all that powerful, then I'd recommend turning on Low memory mode found under:
Also you can turn up the Cache size if you're streaming Large volume comics at once, the default is set to 100MB:
Aside from that there are about 100 other options to customize if you so choose, but it's worth the time to go through and try them out to get your perfect setup.
I use an Onyx Boox reader (Note 2), and the manga experience has been flawless. I went with the Note because I wanted a larger screen to avoid needing to zoom in on small text. I'm likewise not tied to any store or ecosystem, so I use Perfect Viewer as my reader app.
>I'm only tempted to get an android eink reader cause I occasionally read manga and graphic novels
To offer an opinion from the other side, I have a Boox Note 2 that I use regularly for a mix of manga, LNs, and regular books. I spent a little time setting it up with a few apps and the launcher I like, and now I find it's simple and straightforward to use on a regular basis. There really is no tweaking or extra steps: turn it on, open Perfect Viewer, and start reading.
A Kobo will offer most of that experience without the initial setup, but the ability to use any manga reader I want, along with not needing to worry about being locked into a publisher's ecosystem, made a Boox the better option for me. Having the ability to use other Android apps is also very useful on occasion.
if you're on Android you can open the zip file using Perfect viewer app
If you're on PC change the file extension from 'zip' to 'cbz' you can open it using sumatra pdf

Here are my personal recommendations:
Android - Perfect Viewer, free all, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer&hl=en_CA&gl=US IOS - YACReader, paid app, https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/yacreader-comic-reader/id635717885
They both work really well for my needs for my iPhone and Samsung Tablet.
Sure bro. When I read on my PC I use l CDisplay (not CDisplayX) on mobile I use Perfect Viewer.
In Android there is Perfect Viewer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer Works well, no ads, and has a manga mode and tons of options. I'm not an avid comic reader, though, I've used it only 3 or 4 times.
I use Perfect Viewer in a tablet with it's double page settings to be able to visualize two pages at once, it has support for a lot of formats, from pdf, image files to various EBook formats
I use Pefect Viewer since 2013 maybe and even if I tried many more I think it's stil the best, no game. It has everything you need for free but if you want more control on image (saturation, color balancing and stuff like that) you need a paid plugin. No ads, no silly request to review app.
The only downside of the app is that the UI looks still somehow old, even after the recent updates the dev did in that department.
Perfect Viewer is your best bet. It can recognize whenever there is a 2-panel landscape, but you have to set it in the settings. It can be quite tricky, but it has all of the features you might wanted. Give it a try, it's the software I use too.
I just wondering, if they're local, isn't any image viewer actually will do?
Anyway, maybe try Perfect Viewer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer
It seem same with that Challenger viewer. And it also my favorite long time ago. I'm not into manga/manhwa/comics these days.
Whatever you decide, for maximum quality use Perfect Viewer, and always prefer zip / cbz / rar / cbr files, instead of pdf. It's the best combination of quality for manga on android e-readers.
Also, Tachiyomi is a good application to have, mostly for ongoing manga.
Why are people so hung up about reading manga in strips? Can't you just swipe to the left or right to change pages?
Or better yet, just tap on the screen to scroll? Perfect Viewer on Android does this.
If you want to view your comics directly from your google drive without having to keep your porn files on your computer or your phone here are some options you can use
Upload them as a cbz/cbr file (ex. compress file and rename ".zip" to ".cbz").
To view on PC. Go to drive settings -> manage apps -> connect more apps -> search "Comic CBR, CBZ Viewer" select connect app. Now select a cbr/cbz file on your google drive and select open with app "Comic Viewer".
For android phone use Perfect Viewer.
If someone has similar solutions to view image galleries on google drive, please share.
For Windows, use CDisplay
For Android, use Perfect Viewer
Search for comic reader and you'll get plenty of other comic readers on Play Store.
So since the r/anime bot apparently remove anything with a certain specific keyword, even if it is the goddamn wiki page, I will have to repost without the wiki page link >.>
If people have android devices I recommend either
Perfect viewer for its functionality and customization or something like Material Comic Viewer for its simplicity and design.
Edit: And just so this doesn't get wrongly removed again, both are just readers for local content, and doesn't access any sites or server to get content.
Are you using an Android phone? There's an app I use called Perfect Viewer on my tablet, and there's a setting to automatically detect if a page is double or single. You can also set it to read right to left. It looks like there's a phone version, so it should work for you. You have to install a plugin to read PDFs on the app, but they're both free.
Comics is already perfect on tablets, I use Perfect Viewer on Android (Xperia Z2 Tablet). As others said, highly doubtful that e-Ink will ever be good enough for comics.
Assuming you have it downloaded already? Perfect Viewer. It doesn't support anything like a downloader function, but it's great for if you have CBZ / CBRs. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer&hl=en
One option is to click on My Books and check if there is a DRM-Free Backup available for that comic. Those are different formats (.pdf, .cbz) and might work better, although you will need a 3rd party app to view them. If you are using android try perfect viewer.
There is reason why I dropped official support of Kindle Fire - last few firmware updates fucked up many things.
Don't convert images at all. Just use some Android manga reader like: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer
CDisplayEX on PC. Perfect Viewer on Tablet (Android).
Perfect Viewer, hands down. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer
Perfect Viewer is great.
I think a software called Perfect viewer is suitable for your need , you can try it
para comics te recomiendo Perfect Viewer (es gratis)
Yes! I use a 7" android tablet with Perfect Viewer.
PerfectViewer. IMO the best reader for Android, it looks ugly but gets the work done.
There is also Perfect Viewer
If you got all the pages as image files or a PDF, there is PerfectViewer.
Mango or Mangarock for reading online.
Mango's downside if there is no batoto source, while Mangarock ads gets pretty annoying in the free version.
For download manga to your device, then reading the zips, I reccomend the combo Perfect Viewer plus MangaDLR
I currently usually read on Perfect Viewer. Komik is also pretty nice but last time I tried it, it wasn't able to sort 2.jpg before 19.jpg.
Both of these are for offline reading so you'll need to have the chapters downloaded onto your device. There are plenty of programs out there that enable you to do so (and there's always the possibility of downloading the releases directly from the scanlation group).
Personally, I currently use a python script someone else is writing that can already download from and stay up-to-date with a few sites and is made to be easily extensible for other sites. It's still in development, not quite stable, and not all that user-friendly so I won't recommend it for now but it should be pretty neat when it's ready.
Here is the list of titles I have on hand.
As for reading .cbz files, if you use an android phone I recommend perfect viewer. It supports .cbz and .cbr files and has a vertical scroll mode. Perfect for reading webtoons.
If you're on a desktop PC, Calibre works. It supports .cbz and .cbr files and has a vertical scroll mode. However, it's not as good for reading webtoons because of scaling issues on the individual images.
As for the adobe xml stuff, I don't know what you're talking about. I haven't encountered anything like that.

Alternatively, if you have a PC (as opposed to a Mac):
If you want to get really cute, you can use tools like PTFB and Autohotkey to make this process even simpler and faster. But the key point is to always make a local copy, without DRM, to protect yourself from vendors pulling stunts like this.
Tachiyomi can read from sd-card. Also there is always Perfect Viewer
From what I remember Perfect Comic Viewer has a smoothing mode which should work the same.
Still around. Been my favourite comic reader app for a while now.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer&hl=en_CA&gl=US
I don't know how to solve your problem. I'm a huge fan of Moon Reader for ebooks but for cbz I use Perfect viewer.
Been using perfect viewer for years
Ha.. Now i get it. I think this is what you're looking for:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer
As I can see from the official site, Kobo natively supports cbr & cbz format, so you are good to go, without installing other 3rd party software. If your manga are in zip or rar format, just simply rename them. Cbz files are just renamed zips, and cbr files are renamed rars.
Now, as far as I know, Kobo readers use their own OS, not android. If you want to go to android based devices, then you should look for readers such as Likebook Mars, Onyx Nova, etc. In those readers, you will need a 3rd party software, since there is not native support for manga & comics formats (cbr/rar & cbz/zip). Perfect Viewer is that one, and it's the best offline comic software I have tried. I use it on my phone too. Tachiyomi on the other hand, is basically a manga search engine. You put the manga title you want, and it searches for scans in various sites. It's not on the app store, so you will have to download the zip file from Github to your phone / e-reader, and install it manually. I'm saying again, that those apply only in android based e-readers.
Manga file sizes depend on the quality, where you download them from, scanlation group, etc. The size of a volume ~230 pages, vary from 40MB to 250MB. I try to go for the best quality, so the average volume size for me, is about 100MB. Some examples:
Old Boy: 8 vol, 800MB
20th Century Boys: 22 vol, 950MB
Battle Royale: 15 vol, 720MB
Death Note: 12 vol, 3.3GB
Blame!: 6 (double) vol, 5.4GB
Message to Adolf: 5 vol, 250MB
I am a hero: 22 vol, 2.5GB
So, it depends. In my case, I chose Likebook Mars (8GB) and I got an SD card (64GB), but it might be because of the SD that that the battery drains a bit more quickly (don't take that for granted, it's just a hypothesis). If you go for a device with 32GB, it might be enough, depending on your needs.
I prefer Perfect Viewer.
I use perfect viewer for android to read e books and comics, but can't tell how it is with that
Hi. Perfect Viewer would be probably the best. It's an android app which I'm using right now.
It would be better in you got the volumes from here (either from the Dropbox links or the Mega with MegaDownloader) and read them with PerfectViewer. It has a better performance than the PDF and looks just as good.
For Android, Perfect Viewer is the best I've found.
I personally use Perfect Viewer for my manga on the phone needs. (Galaxy S5 user)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer&hl=en
Perfect Viewer works fine for me.
I absolutely adore Perfect Viewer. Best one i've seen on Android yet.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer
I use Perfect Viewer on Android and it automatically keeps track of which chapters/volumes I've read by attaching a meter to its icon.
