since I already had these typed up...
If you bought your S8 from Freedom, it should be compatible (the phone won't be an international version). You don't need the CIBC to download the app (but you do need it to use it). This question is probably better directed to Samsung for troubleshooting, see contact info here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay&hl=en
Should be in the Google play store, a lot of times for new apps I find another published app by the developer (Samsung) and just click the more from this developer link at the bottom to find the other apps. Try this link, I'm on mobile and not sure how it will work: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
EDIT: looks like the app has been pulled, I had downloaded it a few days ago which is why I can still see it, Verizon might be getting ready to officially support it, give it another day or 2.
So Google prevents other companies like Samsung from making their own payment system and putting it on Android?
No? Then it isn't a walled garden.
When people compare Apple's ecosystem to a walled garden it's because you can't make a phone that runs iOS if you aren't Apple.
Apple has full control over their devices. Google on the other has open code (save for some proprietary stuff). Manufacturers are free to make their own versions or forks of the code. Just because Google does a lot of stuff better than their competitors doesn't mean they aren't free to try.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
UPDATE: added Play Store Link
you can download the app directly from the samsung store / google play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay) but at launch, as far as I understand, Samsung Pay is a joke. I believe Samsung isn't at fault here but the Swiss Banks appears to be proactively blocking any external form of mobile payment as much as they can with TWINT etc. Currently it only works with (prepaid) credit cards from BONUScard, SWISSBANKERS and CORNERcard, which honestly (not to discredit these "banks", I have not heard of before Samsung Pay was launched.
Have you tried installing the Samsung Pay app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
And the Samsung Pay Watch Plugin: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.samsungpay.gear
First of all you need to update your firmware to the latest one available in your region. Then you can download it easily from Play Store by clicking here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
Or you can alternatively download its apk file from here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/samsung-pay/samsung-pay-2-9-60-release/samsung-pay-2-9-60-android-apk-download
US only? I get "This app is incompatible with all of your devices." when trying to install the app from the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay).
I tried to download the APK to manually install the app (using US region) but the website to do this from got the same incompatibility error (https://apkpure.com/error?e=LimitedDevice&lr=US&p=com.samsung.android.spay).
Anyone able to upload the APK to try to install it manually? Might bypass the US restriction. Although it looks like the voucher may be sent by snail-mail rather than electronically so they might notice a non-US letter being sent.
Apparently the September 28 update gives some kind of support for samsung pay. People say that samsung pay isnt available on google play, but apparently it is. Try this link out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
I have yet to test it but at least its installed and asking for a card.
Here's the Play Store Link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
It actually worked yesterday, now the link merely shows me the "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server." error from Google Play.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
I had the same issue. Someone posted a direct link to the play store listing and that worked for me. Be aware, even though the app installs, some of us are having an issue installing the framework upon opening the app. Might have to wait until tomorrow for it all to work.
For anyone who successfully finished the update, here is the link to Samsung Pay in the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dsamsung+pay+google+play+store&pcampaignid=APPU_1_FJ8mVsvXMY2wjwOD74GgBA
is your device rooted? if so, Samsung Pay won't work on it. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00045945/
interestingly, i can't find Pay in Play Store, but I can get to it from this link. it tells me the app is not compatible with my phone, but somehow I have it installed. I tested Pay today and it worked fine.

which carrier are you with? not sure if they need to do an OTA update on your device for you to get it. this link states that Verizon won't use Samsung Pay.

Try this link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
Can you see this in the play store?
Looks like you can just install it off play store

Did you try in the Google Play store? I rarely, if ever, using the Galaxy App store.
Official Samsung Link : Samsung Pay
Twitter: @SamsungPay (good place to ask questions)
It should be in both Google play and galaxy apps, not sure why not try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay or Google maybe if that doesn't redirect you.
No idea if this works, but try downloading here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
Can you install the app and set it up from Google Play? I live in the US and had to do this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
Here is the link directly to the apk on Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
I still see it using the link below. Hopefully it works for you.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.spay link for Samsung pay is up
I don't know what your question is exactly but Google Pay is something that is not and will never be supported on this watch.
Here is the link for Samsung Pay which as far as I can tell should work with your Motorola Z2 Play. Unfortunately I can't personally confirm this as I have a Samsung phone.
