Last time I tried this version on Google Play, it worked pretty well. Such a chore without a mouse though. Gotta love those negative reviews complaining "it's too hard".
OpenTTD even has an Android app!
Er is ook een versie voor Android (NSFW, je werk gaat er aan als je op die link klikt). Daarnaast haat ik je omdat je me aan dit geweldige spel herinnert. Ik ga weer dagen lang treintjes synchroniseren...
> It's pretty fun, but I don't believe it's a mobile game.
Oh yes it is :) I have it on my Android tablet. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl&hl=en_GB
Runs nicely. Only issue is that the small screen means you frequently need to unselect the rail tool in order to move the screen a bit to then reselect the rail tool to finish your track.
I mean nothing untowards towards parades or bubbles, but this is also on the Play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl&hl=en_US so available to non-Crostini enabled Chromebooks too.
Aside from that, nice to hear! Any reccos on other Linux enabled, non GPU intensive games to try out while we wait for GPU support?
OTTD is in many platforms, including Android.

You should avoid this.

I'm looking for good games that do not have ads or in-app purchases. I doubt there are many free games like that so paid ones are ok. OpenTTD is a prime example of such a game. I'm tired of this p2w crap that is mobile game industry these days.
Theme hospital and OpenTTD (Transport Tycoon) are great. You need the original installation files for TH, you can get them on GOG.
How is your stace towards: Free, no ads and no MTX at all?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl&hl=en_US&gl=US
You probably won't need any other game any time soon.
Thanks, I had actually finished the university long ago and I am writing firmware for wireless chips for 13 years already. The advice I've asked is for people who sometimes ask me for career advice, many people I know went for CS courses specifically because they wanted to create games.
I did publish a few non-commercial open-source games to Android.
I still cannot wrap around my head how do you grow that whole community thing. Facebook is cancer, G+ is dead, I never understood that Twitter thing and their website lags, Reddit is not exactly made to grow your personal fanbase, and having a game with 1M installs does almost nothing to promote another game you're publishing, unless you put a big annoying popup ad into your first game.
Also from my experience, publishing a non-commercial game with no ads gives you a positive feedback from maybe 5% of users, but in general people do not care whether there are ads or no, so you are still directly competing with SimCity, and SimCity is winning.
This is the android beta version 1.10.0-RC1.85 . I discovered this error by coincidence while I was on a server and went to see which grf were being used the game closed.
There's also a port of OpenTTD However, I found the buttons and interfaces too small for my phone but It's free so you can always give it a try.
If the GUI looks quite different it's probably because they are playing the mobile version on a tablet or something. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
Some graphics replacement sets probably change the icons, too.
Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe. https://www.openttd.org/en/ (or google play )
The game where many were building train lines before the Gods created Factorio :)
Runs 70 FPS with fully zoomed out without any NewGRFs, 65 FPS with ~60 NewGRFs on my old S4 Mini. Pulling 120 in my GM 5+.
My favorite tycoon game of all time is Transport Tycoon. There is an Android version, but i tried it about a year back and it was hard to use.
The review looks pretty solid now, so might be worth trying again

Linkme: open ttd
Best economy sim on android, don't run away from it like i did because of the graphics, I've gotten tons of hours from, I'm actually sad that i didn't play it earlier, it's a pc port transport tycoon from 1997 back when eco sims were still made and they were amazing not as good as capitalism 2 tho. You could also try the kairosoft games but they're very simplistic.
Edit: wrong playstore link again wtf bot here's the real link:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dopenttd&pcampaignid=APPU_1_5l8nVrHSDcu6UfbNopAD

5 minutes, ha. Check reviews of Android version, it got mostly positive comments at the top, but deeper you'll find complaints of people struggling with basic things.
Granted, mobile audience is more simple-minded and impatient than PC players.
Open TTD is basically a 1:1 clone of Transport Tycoon Deluxe

OpenTTD springs to mind https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
This one is really great, I was having a blast playing it on PC when I was growing up as well :
OpenTTD is a full feature port of the PC version.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
This post is pure gold, thank you! If you haven't already you may want to add OpenTTD https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
PS: the devs themselves have stated that factorio's train signals are inspired by OpenTTD ;)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl&hl=en
Works with PC servers too
Well, there's a version of OpenTTD for Android
Generally, all the Kairosoft Games are considered quite good. They all play pretty much the same, though, so basically pick a theme and get that one.
There's also Transport Tycoon which is actually a port of Locomotion. I'm not sure how well it plays on mobile, but there is a free version if you'd want to try it out.
here's OpenTTD
OpenTTD. Transport tycoon business sim. Free. No IAPs. Supports mods (called GRF in-game). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
There's OpenTTD which is an open source remake of Transport Tycoon Deluxe
OpenTTD er også en hyggelig tycoon klassiker!

OpenTTD of course

The Google play store has a free version, and it works for me. Can't say anything about manual install versions. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe is great port/update to the classic.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
Best tycoon game for me would still be "transport tycoon"
Openttd: navigation is little bit difficult but you get used to it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
Or Transport tycoon wich costs a little bit of money but has mobile navigation: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thirtyonex.TransportTycoon
A free demo/lite version can be found here so you can test it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thirtyonex.TransportTycoonLite
Other good tycoon games are the onr from Kairosoft
I strongly recommend OpenTTD
It's just called OpenTTD. I don't know if iOS has it though.

OpenTTD is a port of Transport Tycoon Deluxe. It's awesome.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
I've always enjoyed OpenTTD. Not a god-mode game, but you can heavily influence the world map. No microtransactions.
OpenTTD, OpenTTD JGR
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
Can't really comment on it other than to say they look similar and OpenTTD is completely free.
Or ya know. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl&hl=en for mobile games
I haven't played the android version, but I love Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl
maybe not pure city building, but similar building type - oTTD, the 1st and last though, for bigger screens only
