It's a free lightweight app by Google that works as a reminder, organiser, list maker, alarm... etc. Why is it my favourite? You can log into it from practically anything that can connect to the internet and access your info. Got an Android App, IOS App, Chrome App and a Web App.
You can also have multiple people collaborating on certain lists, reminders, posts... etc. It's also compatible with Whatsapp, Google Docs... etc.
I tried a few organiser apps before this but none was as light weight with these kinds of features and access points and most were not free.
Did you try Google Keep? It's a great app to take notes and create checklists.

Keep covers most of those. It doesn't delete items but does move them to the bottom, however there is a button in the three dot menu to untick all items and they will restore in the original position. You can easily add, edit, reorder etc.

Just to get it out the way, I use Google Keep for almost everything. The recently added ability to pin notes to the top makes it excellent for a brief summary of the day's events.
Additionally, the colour coding, tagging, and sharing makes it a super-easy way to make quick little notes throughout the day, and organise at a later date.

Google Keep. It has an app as well as a browser version.
It's perfect for creating To-Do's and setting up reminders.
Google can set reminders by location, for example using Google Now ("Ok Google, remind me to call Fred when I get home") or Google Keep. You have to set your Home location in your Google app preferences so it knows when you're home.
If you check your (Android) phone a lot, you can download this app: Google Keep which lets you make lists and stuff. Then you can make one with just 'Reality check' or something. After that, you can make a widget on your homescreen with that reminder, so you'll think about it every time you look at your homescreen

As far as I know, Google Keep does all of this. You can add notes at keep.google.com, it syncs with your Google account, labeling notes was just added in, and it also supports time-based and location-based reminders.

You'll get a larger window to work with your note if you install the Google Keep Android app and people won't be able to see your other notes in the background.
If you maximize the app window you'll get an even larger window but people can peek at your other notes.
Best solution is to not maximize the app but instead to drag to resize it. You'll find the sweet spot where the note is largest ... beyond that it'll show background notes again.
You can work with the chrome and Android interface at the same time. Quite handy when working with two notes & copying & pasting etc.

For me what's worked the best is the google Keep app. Since I'm a in-house biomed who does OR/Cath Lab/PACU some days I get a lot of calls and don't document all the work I did. I use the google Keep app now and created a label called work and it's helped a lot. It also keeps all of my work photos from mixing with my personal photos on my phone. During the day I take photos or type notes in my work group label for each repair I did with details. When I get back to my desk I can pull up the Keep app in my chrome browser and document all of my work. If I took photos in the keep app (which is a lot), those photos sync up also which I can then use as well.

1) Google Keep has tagging; you can add tags to a note either from ... menu / Labels or by just typing # into your note which brings up a dropdown of your existing tags.
2) Personally I like an alphabetical ordered tag list so, as I do with Pocket and other "flat" tag systems, I create a de facto tag hierarchy such as:

Just like sid32 said, you need to have Google Keep installed and logged in with the same Google Account that your phone is logged in with. Then the Google Assistant would be able to give you a reminder at that location.

As for journal writing, I am not a fan of my handwriting either, so I use Google Keep app. it's super-easy to use and to organize. It can be fun too! :-)
The cost of bottom surgery is indeed much but I moved to CA last year to use its medicaid, which covers such procedures. I finally got my 2 letters last Friday, so I guess I should hear from a doctor in the next month and get it done by the end of Summer. I do want them gone totally asap and I have heard there's still a way to leave some skin for future -- in case I want to the big thing!

If I plan to make a post, I typically write it up in Google Docs beforehand (on my computer, at home) and then copy-and-paste it into a Reddit comment on Friday (from my phone, before eating lunch at work). I also use Google Keep to remind myself to add a topic to the Google Doc in the evening.

I like to use the Google Keep app for my grocery list because i can share it with my SO and update it at any time. Whoever goes to the store first already has a list of what the other person wants at their fingertips.
I'm also really lazy and like my Google Now feature on my phone. I can just say. "Ok google, add milk to the grocery list" and it sticks it right there for me without even having to touch my phone! Comes in handy when I'm cooking and use the last of something and want to put it on my list before i forget.
I think there is also an app called "OutOfMilk" and it does the same thing but has more features like storing the average price like you're doing now! It didn't really work for me when I used it two years ago though so hopefully they've improved it since then.

I like Google Keep for ideas as it's fast and fuss free, and ZZZI Random Music Alarm is great for waking up. It shuffles all your music and plays one track randomly. I find it great for morning motivation and mood.

It would be good to provide a link to the actual app, there are at least 5 results for "Notepad" within the Play store.
Without knowing which one you're using, if I had to guess I'd say at best, it has a feature where you can note down a phone call's timestamp in order to write notes about it. At worst, they're selling your data.
I would recommend as others have said, Google Keep. The Android equivalent of the iPhone's notes app, it's a pretty good app.
If you mean notes widget. You can download Keep Notes and create a label and you can keep it in the wallpaper but im not sure if it's what you are searching for!

Probably not exactly what you are looking for but you can do a new note with drawing, and it's actually pretty cool as in the way the drawing works. You move slow and a thin line, faster and the line gets thicker.
I think it really needs a lot of more detail into the title, description and photos. At first glance I don't really get what the app is for. Is it like a note taking app? Like sticky notes? Think about SEO, how would people find your app? What are they looking to do that your app would help them do?
I mean if you like social media layout for notes just make a private twitter. With the twitter app you can be logged into multiple twitter accounts so no need to log in an out. Just switch to the note acct and go.

I use Keep on Android! I've tried symptom trackers but never found one that was as good as my just logging things in Keep.
The best tracker app I could find at the time was actually Period Tracker which allowed me to add symptoms and pick icons for each so I just tapped those icons when I had those symptoms. But that was several years ago. I'm sure there must be better apps or there by now.

See if you can find a good app for organizing your life, time, schedule and notes.
Why?
It's important that you plan things out some so you avoid your earlier pitfalls.
Plan events to help you maintain a course or direction for yourself. Know when appointments are and have notes available to help remember stuff. Be reminded when something is coming up.
If you can organize your life you will feel soooooo much more in control and reassured that you are true to your compass.

I use Google keep for that, so I can also set at which time I want it. I don't know if there's a limit to how much text the mi band can display, so for that you'd have to try it yourself

Google Keep has a companion app that is automatically installed if you have Keep on your phone. I use it very often when I do groceries. You can also share notes and lists with other peoples.

Google Keep can copy-paste but you need to manually paste once it's copied to the other device. And it needs an Internet connection.
I've found it to be far more reliable than any other Internet/network clipboards I've tried. All the others occasionally unsync and I need to restart either the phone, or Chrome (pc), or both.

Google's Keep Notes does that. It listens to the microphone and saves both a transcript and the audio recording. It doesn't seem to accept an audio file as input tho.

I use the Samsung handwriting recognition with the pen and Google Keep.
You could easily type as well in keep but I like using the pen because sometimes I use the drawing board function to either sketch ideas so attach pictures to notes to draw on.
You can color code your notes as well as adding labels. You can also search in keep and access it from the web.
That way if my next phone is not a Samsung I don't have to worry about losing anything I saved in s notes.
Don't force it. Sometimes a few words will pop into your head that sounds good. Write them down. I use Keep on my phone. You can also access via the Web or Chrome. Saves to the cloud as well.
Another thing I find helps is, if I've got a good chord progression or riff, try different sounds. Clean, with distortion, with fuzz, with phaser, etc. Just a change in sound can stir something.
You could do the same very easily on Google keep app . By repeating the reminder whenever you want... plus it is synced to your Google ID so it is consistent on every platform.

Both Google Keep and Text Fairy can import images and convert lettering to searchable text. Text Fairy can also export as PDF. Don't know of any screenshot app that can handle all those tasks.
I've found that online OCR websites do a better job than apps of converting bitmap lettering to editable text.

As for iCloud calendars, try to set up sync with iCalendar Sync and then you shoudl be able to view these calendars with any calendar app.

I use Google Keep, IMO it's much more, better then that suggestion.
That's why I recommend using Google Keep it's an app that shows you notes that you have made and you can set reminders for yourself to do things later.
Of course you shouldn't have to do this, but it's necessary nowadays.

If you're on Android, you can also try Google Keep which is really similar (it has reminders, multiple colors, lists, etc.) and you can access it through a browser
Google Notes - it's a simple notemaking tool I personally use all the time and it automatically syncs between all devices. Comparable to Evernote, which has a pemium service though.
Google Rewards - an easy way of making some Google Play money, can be uses on everything you can buy in the Google library.
Google Translator - a super handy tool if you habe to deal with more than one language, it is able to translate most languages and you don't even have to type it in, you can either tramsalte directly from a photo or just talk to it.
LastPass - my preferred password manager, it will memorize your passwords and create secure ones if you want it to.
Netflix - a subscription based movie service, I really enjoy it as it makes super long work commutes and idle time more fun, and on mobile you can also download the movies and series for later offline usage.
Pixlr - is my preferred photo editing programm, though I am actually sure that there are better apps for that out there.
Reddit Is Fun - in my opinion the most usable Reddit app and makes Reddit on mobile even more enjoyable than on PC so your poop time will increase drastically.
Shazam - ever wanted to know how that one song is called? Just shazam it and it will most definitely deliver.
Spotify - probably the best music service out there and I thougroughly recommend that you get the premium subscription, not only does it give you better quality audio, which isn't really noticable on mobile though, but you aren't forced to use random mode anymore, as you sadly are otherwise in the app, and lile in Netflix you can download for offline usage.
Sudoku - helps to bridge those spare ten minutes and is actually kinda addicting.
Whatsapp - everyone probably uses it, but it's my favourite way to stay in contact with other people so I'll include it.

KeePass is apparently an even better password manager as the two previously named ones, as it stores the passwords more secure. It doesn't seem to have an official app in the Play Store though, you might want to look into it for PC usage though. Recommended by u/FierceDiety_.

Google Keep is good, does all the basics all in one package.
If you're really super into checklists, and you want several check lists to each have their own widgets, and you want a calendar to help you organize your lists, and remind you when things are due, etc, etc. I recommend TickTick. There is a free version and a paid option ($28/year), I generally hate subscriptions, but I think this one is worth it. The only thing I don't like about TickTick is the windows app, it's not great. When on my PC, I'll generally opt to use the website instead of the windows app.
For notes I use MS OneNote
Google Keep seems to be the one note app that people love, and I like it , but it can not sort lists in alphabetical order. With a long grocery list this can be a pain, so I found out about Memorix Notes + Checklists here on this sub. It is like keep, but you can sort lists in alphabetical order.
Another I really like is Sportractive GPS Running Cycling Distance Tracker, most of the other apps like Runtastic force you to login, and try and be a social media app, which I loathe.
Chrome will be your best friend here. One of the best parts about Google's ecosystem is that it includes iOS! And Mac (via Chrome). Chrome has its apps on the Chrome Web Store.

The absolute best? Not sure. But boy, my Tabletop App folder is getting beefy. Android stuff ahead.
The vast majority of my notes goes into Keep. It doesn't support standard formatting options, but it's free, works well with tags, and is super seamless to sync across devices. I can just select whatever tag I use for any given campaign and everything is right there. Locations, characters, quests, session notes, all easy to access. You can add images, hyperlinks, and even draw with a stylus if you need to. Contains a pretty robust search function too.
I use Squid on the side, it's great for quick handwritten note taking. After a session, I reference it to permanently record data into Keep. It also supports multiple "notebooks," so you can have one for each campaign.
Battle Tracker for initiative. Made for D&D originally though, requires a bit of grunt work tweaking monsters. I wish it was a bit more robust, but for now it does the job.
Lion's Den's d20 Calculator is my go-to when it's more convenient to go digital that spend ages adding up fistfuls of dice.
Masterwork Tools is my reference app for when it's too time consuming to access Archive of Nethys or d20pfsrd. It's not up to date, but still very useful.
I have a bunch of other apps I use fairly infrequently, but I don't want to go nuts with this list. Special note for Treasure Generator though, there's something so satisfying about throwing in some random treasure chest every now and again.

Welcome. Keep in mind that you've just entered a world where "there isn't one built in" is a positive. This might take some time to adjust to. Give it some time. Android has historically been for people who want their phones to work for them, rather than having to work for their phone.
Think of it like this: experiment, experiment, experiment. Install apps, ask questions, and start to draft some "I wish I could..." requests. You'll likely find that whatever it is that you wish you could do is possible on Android. This freedom leads many of us to get quite anxious about the claustrophobic world of iOS and its "built in" one-size-is-supposed-to-fit-all nightmare.
As to your question, there are a ton of great options. You'll have to determine what will work best for you.
Google Keep is a good place to start. You can create grocery lists, share them with you partner, set reminders based on time or location, etc. You can also add items via talking - "Ok Google, add milk to my shopping list" to add items.
TickTick is a more advanced solution that may or may not work for you. It's not as popular as Todoist, but it's far better, in my opinion. It's somewhat less expensive and provides a better experience overall.
Then there is the "built in" "Ok Google" reminders. "Ok Google. Remind me to buy milk at 6:00pm".
I find Google Keep is pretty great for notes.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's an easy way to transfer notes. I'd say your best bet is to download Google Keep on your iPhone and just copy paste all your notes into it. iOS link, Android link
Side note: I'm glad to see more people switching to Android! If you haven't already, I recommend getting a new keyboard and launcher, Samsung's ones aren't so great. I use GBoard and Nova Launcher, but there are many alternatives. Have fun!

Hey, I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time trying to get diagnosed! I was diagnosed relatively late in life as well (age 22) and by that time I had gone through my entire education without a diagnosis and my grades reflect that. Just the fact that you are convinced and that you have done your research will help. Knowing what ADHD is and how it can effect you and what parts of your life it can effect is already one big step forward!
Some coping mechanisms that have worked for me are:
Setting reminders on my phone, that is also connected to my email (if you have a smartphone with this capability)
Google and gmail are fantastic. There are so many apps you can use from google in combination with your email it is great! Many times, when I remember something, or have a creative thought that I don't want to forget, I have an app from google (keep notes: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.keep&hl=en ) and you can do a lot with that. I would suggest to check it out. You can use it on the computer on your gmail, or as an app, and they will sync up as long as you are using the same account. You can add images and notes under, make lists (checklist style) you can also just use it as a note pad. It also has the possibility to record a sound note, if you don't have the motivation to type it up etc.

I'm not great at keeping track of time, so I become extra paranoid that I will be late, I generally try to give my self an extra 30 mins to get to where I need to be. and most of the time it means I'm early, but it beats being late :)
Keeping a visual aid may also help, a laminated blank sheet or a white-board with erasable markers, and you can keep that somewhere in plain site. What I have also read somewhere is people use the erasable markers on mirrors, one that you will always see before you go to bed, and after you wake up. I haven't tried this yet, but it definitely seems like a good idea.

I don't know if there's an alternative for IOS, but for Android, you can use Keep Notes for this functionality in mind.
If you mean you're keeping notes in a contact, I'd like a propose a new way. Use Google Keep. There's a shortcut for it in the right sidebar. Mobile app as well (iOS/Droid).
I know any change to a workflow is a PITA, but I'm sure you can build the new muscle memory quickly.
Free, cloud backup, voice input, probably already installed, colored labels.
I recommend everyone to keep notes on their phone about the situation. Google Keep is a good app
Information is vital
Evernote does a better job of scanning documents, Google Keep doesn't handle PDF files. Both can be synced across different devices.
Evernote also has an Android wear version Evernote for Android Wear if you want to use it from your android watch (if you have one that is).
Top 3 For me: 1. Google Keep - I just love the simplicity of the app 2. Business Calendar 2 (Paid) - Love the UI and Widgets 3. Loop - Use it for a week and then you'll see the difference.

I know where you're coming from, but hear me out.
First, you're going to secure all browsers, even Edge. I have linked some extensions.
Second, you're going to uninstall Internet Explorer.
Third, and this is the most important one… You're going to install apps of the websites he uses from the Windows Store. The Windows Store is incredibly secure, you just can't fuck up with that. You mentioned Facebook, Messenger, Yahoo and poker. If you can find exactly what he uses on the Windows Store, the security of his computer is greatly improved.
Do not fear to install apps from the Windows Store on your personal computer to test them before you install them on your grandpa's computer, as you will be helping him understand the wonderful security that apps provide. You can easily uninstall them, and that's the biggest feature they have (haha).
Lastly, nuke everything. Malware is generally hard to completely remove. If you are used to working with the BIOS, use the Media Creation Tool and an USB Key to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows anew. If not, just select upgrade this computer and delete everything.
After everything is nuked, you can create a local administrator account with a password from random.org that you'll carefully write down on a paper, your cellphone, and possibly even on the fridge. Then, you'll create a normal user account with your grandfather's Microsoft Account. Use the administratior account to install a bunch of software.
But why the double account? This will force him to look for the difficult to remember password every time he wants to make changes to Windows, making it harder to install malware.
Google Keep also grabs text from an image.
Google keep does it, another advantage would be that it will be saved and automatically available everywhere.

I use an Android / Windows environment, so I've been searching for a good set of programs to use that are available for free (or under $30) on my devices.
First I found:
My Life Organized - Free on Windows / Android (But one time $70 fee to upgrade both to the pro version to gain access to Projects and a number of other useful features) I was on board with this app, and prepared to buy their $10 pro version on Android, but I then noticed their Windows version was $60.
So far the suggestions in this thread are:
ToDoIst - Free on Windows / Android (But $29/year if you want to add Filters and Labels (contexts) to your items.)
Remember The Milk - Free on Windows / Android (But $25/ year if you want push notifications and advanced Syncing), but lacks a desktop application. You can access it via the web, but I'd rather have something I don't need the internet to access.
Google Keep Actually free, but only really does lists and reminders. It does lists really well though!

I use a combination of Bundled and Google Keep for note taking. I use home agenda for my Google calendar widget (it doesn't support reminders). For reminders I use Google Tasks due to the simple and minimalistic interface. For emails I use Spark due to the way it seperates emails by types (personal, notifications and newsletters) using a smart inbox (and it's almost 100% free except for the teams part). For news I really like the interface provided by Flipboard (I know it's an old app, but still reliable and customizable). Here's the free version of home agenda in case you want to try it out. It's fully customizable.

I find One Note to be my go-to for integration and flexibility.
Google Keep sorts labels(aka tags) you assign alphabetically.
You could assign each exercise the appropriate tags(easy to do just type #) perhaps broken down by m/muscle e/exercise t/type

e.benchpress
etc.

t.bodyweight

You can than easily list your desired exercises by clicking on the appropriate label.

Google Keep will not work for a big to-do list as it will just be displayed in its entirety for every label you click without filtering(because it would contain all the labels)
For a single big to-do list you are better off using a spreadsheet as suggested by TheCactusMan41:

Time-based reminders in Google Keep
Google Keep covers pretty much all of that. But i guess it won't work if the font changing option is mandatory.
Process used:
Sketch started in Google Keep app. Exported to Glitch! app - tweaked with the Scanner filter. Exported to DECIM8 app - tweaked with the BRAINFEED3R and BEAMRIDER filters. Slightly tweaked in Google Photos for color/contrast (via the web interface, not the app).
I use Google Keep everyday. It is free and you can use it on the Internet, Android, IOS, Google Chrome and Firefox.
I'm a Google user and this seems to work well for your problem.
I use Google Keep on my phone/tablet and works well cross platform with Google Panel View for Keep Chrome extension. You can literally be typing in your phone app and watch it write on your PC/Mac and vice versa.

Google Keep which alone is enough for me not to go Gear S2 Tizen, despite that tempting turning bezel. So Keep and Now keeps me in the Android corral.
Watchmaker is a have to have. There are at least 10 000 free watch faces available through the app. That's like a free watch face every day for the next 27 years. I wouldn't get an Android Wear watch if it wasn't available. Not only that but a great community of watch/watch face makers on Google+. The paid version is if you want to make your own watches, or modify existing ones, there's a FREE Watchmaker version as well, and a version if you want a wallpaper on your phone/phablet to match the wrist watch.
Then there's ClockSync to avoid clock drift and keep your watch on atomic time. For it to be automatic, though, your phone/phablet has to be rooted.
Tasker and various plug ins for that to enable tailoring and automating your device.
Then there are various remotes that I have to have, to control the HTPC, playback on Squeezeboxes, volume control on the sound system in the entire house, etc, but that may not be an area you are interested in. Finally, various work out apps.
Google Keep is a really cool way of keeping track with stuff. I have a grocery list shared with my girlfriend, and you can even make more stuff which you share:

Google's take on post-it notes. Wife and I have shared to-do and shopping lists (which is a pain when you are in the grocery store looking at the list and things keep being added to it!). On Android it's got a nice widget that I have on the home screen of my phone, so I always see my daily to-do list or reminder immediately when I unlock my phone. Also accessible from any web browser. Requires Google account.

I use the lock screen function in Wear Minilauncher to keep Keep notes onscreen. It chews up the battery but if I need something for a couple of minutes it's great.

Google Keep. User must copy or paste manually on each device, but copy/paste across devices is very reliable. Needs Internet connection.
- I prefer Google Keep, but Snapcopy doesn't need an Internet connection and works well too, as long as you're on the same WiFi network.
- ssaver.com website can copy/paste across browser devices on the same WiFi network. Can also transfer files.
It's difficult to pin down to one issue since it's really the sum of all of its shortcomings that makes it a disappointing experience.
Windows phone is locked down heavily like iOS, but doesn't offer a wide enough selection of apps or system features to make it usable. It's a very sparse OS.
Because of how hard it's locked down, it's necessary to install apps that add the functionality you need, but apps that add the functionality you need aren't available.
Neither google nor apple publish apps for their services like drive, play music, keep, or any of the docs apps in the store like google does on iOS, so you're forced to use all of microsoft's services unless you want to roll the dice with some hacky chinese-made half-baked browser frame app. Microsoft doesn't make a lot of great apps like Google does.
Official apps that are available often lack functionality present in android or iOS versions of the apps.
You'll find more apps that don't do what you want than apps that do what you want, there are many fewer good apps on windows mobile than there are on other platforms. There is a poor selection of apps that are actually usable. Whereas on android whatever app you download has at least some functionality, even if it's not the functionality you're looking for, there are a bunch of apps on the store that just plain do nothing at all.
All apps are super hard to find, in fact I didn't even know about wallet until half an hour ago. I've been researching W10M and the 950 XL for the past two weeks and hadn't seen it mentioned until then. I finally tracked it down and turns out it's shit
You have to install a greater number of apps to get the functionality you want. On average, individual apps have less functionality than their android or iOS equivalents. Just look at the difference between memo and keep. Some justify this as minimalism, but really the windows app just lacks functionality.
If you can't find another app to fill in for missing functionality in another app, you're going to have to do without that functionality. On android you can probably find an app from google that does what you need, on windows phone
No snapchat, vine, tinder, YouTube, Gmail, stable Instagram, pinterest, etc.
Pen and paper is infinitely more convenient and customizable than an app - if I had to use my phone I'd probably use Keep.
