I recently discovered Android version of The World Ends With You , a JRPG with awesome music and original mechanics, first released on NDS. One of the few ports of console games where the game ended up being better than original IMHO. I envy everyone who has yet to experience the story for the first time...
I love "The World Ends With You". Its a DS port and was built for touch controls so it translates perfect to smartphones.
The dialog is a bit cringy sometimes but the story overall interesting. Combat is super fun where you euip different pins which you activate with certain touch controls. You can also level and evolve your pins.
Overall i have great fun with it, check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.square_enix.android_googleplay.subarashikikonosekai_solo&hl=en
I would vote for the iOS or Android Version. The controls for the switch version are weird on a tv screen. Play on a high res mobile device.
Its also hard to come by cheap Switch copies.
The World Ends With You
A formerly Nintendo DS game, but got ported to mobile OS along with adding other stuff. It's considered one of the top game I've ever played, not to mention the sick soundtrack it has.
My bro, check out The World Ends With You!
It's a solid modern JRPG, created by the legendary Tetsuya Nomura himself! It's got awesome beats, an intriguing plot and cool gameplay!
It's a bit pricey, so I'd recommend emulating the DS version on DraStic first, to get the hang of it.
Honestly, as far as JRPGs on mobile are concerned, you're better off emulating most of the classics. Square Enix did release a decent number of Android ports, but most of them are around 15 bucks, which is beyond what I can currently afford.
Get PPSSPP too. The PSP has a treasure trove of JRPGs that are worth checking out. Bonus points if you're able to snag a controller too.
A few titles, off the top of my head:
DS: Dragon Quest IV-V, SMT: Devil Survivor 1&2, SMT: Strange Journey, Front Mission, Pokemon BW & BW2 (has one of the best plots in the entire series).
PSP: Disgaea 1-2, P3P (a favorite of mine), Persona 1, Ys VII-VIII, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Type-0 (complete fan TL available).
The world ends with you is my favorite RPG ever made, and happens to have an Android port. From everything I've heard it's a really GOOD port too. It was originally a DS game, so they had to redo a lot of the controls to make it work on just a single screen.
I played this version when it first released on iPad, so I know it handles a larger tablet very well. A cursory glance at reviews suggest it works fine on smaller devices (like your phone) But you may want to do some additional research before you buy.
Also it's a very Japanese game. It's set in Shibuya, with a heavy emphasis on pop Fashion and Music of that area and age demographic. So if you hate that kinda thing with a firey passion, it may also be an avoid.
Despite both of those things, I still highly recommend it. It has Excellent writing, interesting gameplay, And executes on its theme MASTERFULLY with all the right music, animations, and designs in all the right places. It's really well made, and worth far more than the $18usd that they're asking for.
Not disagreeing with you on the gaming front, but the OP3/T is beefy enough to do a really good job emulating anything that runs on an emulator. PPSSPP (PSP) emulation is great on this phone and there are legit good games for mobile too
loved it on DS when first came out, came out later on android too!... Do enjoy the game soundtrack.
Yep.
And the native version is here: Solo Remix
Doesn't look like it's been updated in years though, so someone here would have to post if it works on Android Pie or not. My phone is Oreo (8) and it works though, so it'll probably be fine.
Hmm.
You might like The World Ends With You, which has a huge amount of stuff to collect. Again, it's a port, but a DS port, so it was designed for touchscreens. I wouldn't say it would last 2-3 years, though (unfortunately, I think that amount of content is usually only possible when the game is constantly making money via subscriptions or microtransactions, otherwise the team has to move on to something new.)
Although collectable card games have some of that, especially ones built on an existing franchise. If you like MTG, you could always download Forge and play its campaign mode, say. I've been playing Yu-Gi-Ih Arc V Tag Force Special in an emulator, which has a similarly absurd number of cards to collect, but of course that one has PSP controls, so you might not like it.
its an interesting game, definitely something i would want to add to my collection. one thing to note too is that theres a version on Android it might be worth a look if your one of those people who prefer to play on your phone.
If you can't get your hand on a copy and have an Android Phone, you might enjoy the Android port
In case you have an Android tablet or phone, TWEWY is on the Google Play Store with upgraded graphics and tweaked gameplay.
Thank you for introducing me to this soundtrack and game, Its actually available on Google Play (and probably iOS but I didn't look) its pricy but Square puts their stuff on sale pretty regularly soooo... wishlist!
Um. Well. Beep boop beep. Heres ya link mate
"So Zetta Slow" is one of several (terrible) catchphrases said by one of the characters in The World Ends With You, an RPG originally released for Nintendo DS.
The game makes great use of the dual screens of the console; combat requires controlling one character on the top screen with buttons, and the other on the bottom screen with the stylus. It's got a fantastic story and really fun (and challenging) gameplay. Everyone should give it a shot.
While I'd recommend playing on DS if you're at all able, the game was re-released for iOS and Android as "Solo Remix". Combat has been simplified a bit (since there's only a single touchscreen and no physical buttons) and it's definitely a bit easier, but it's still a good challenge and the story remains completely fantastic. Also while microtransactions were added, they're actually completely optional - they can you a little bit of a boost compared to regular progression, but don't instantly win the game for you and nothing's been slowed down or made more awkward for folks who don't purchase them.
Anyway, aye, /u/So_Zetta_Slowpoke has given me a reason to plug this fantastic game once again. Huzzah.
edit: oh aye and the music is fucking awesome and I'm putting on a playlist the now. Today is going well.
