Electrum is a real bitcoin wallet – your bitcoin isn't stored with a central entity – so if you're happy with it, I don't necessarily recommend you switch.
This post is more for new users that might not yet understand the distinction between a bitcoin wallet and a website that lets you buy/hold bitcoin. I think the three I listed are very commonly recommended on this sub because they are pretty user-friendly. I haven't used it myself, but Electrum's android app looks pretty good too.
Electrum. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
Create a new wallet and IMPORT the keys using the instructions in u/veganic11 link then send where you want to sell.
Best bet for instant sell is as ATM, but the rate will be shit.
I recommend Electrum. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum Set it up, and go to RECEIVE. Every time you go to receive menu, it shows you your address, which is what you are looking for.
The update is already on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
You can also download the APK from here: https://download.electrum.org/2.9.0/Electrum-2.9.0.0.apk
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum&hl=en_US&gl=US
Unless you have an iphone, in which case not sure what wallet is best.
Quick google search, Electrum Bitcoin Wallet should be able to help you out.
Also,
>Somehow I did a dumb move and created a "watch only" wallet.
Sounds like that machine needs a software update.

did you install this one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
on google play, you can see all applications that you have ever installed. so even if you removed it, check your history and confirm if is that one. you have to verify the id.
You can't verify the signatures from apps that come through the PlayStore, but they should be verified by Google beforehand. Just make sure, you are downloading the correct app from Electrum Technologies GmbH
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
1.) Search for Bitcoin ATM on Google Maps.
2.) Send the funds that you purchase to a Bitcoin wallet like Eluctrum - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
Bitcoin ATM do not typically require an ID to purchase.
3.) Deposit funds from the wallet to ACR
Hey u/bsteinfeld, if you install a good wallet on your Android device, for example Electrum (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum), secure the seed and I'll send you ~$50 to the address you reply to this post. It's not much, but maybe others join in.
But please, wipe that computer of yours clean. It had malware on it, you can't trust it any longer. Same goes for the Ledger device. Reset it.

. Where did you download it from?I checked it again, d3vrandom's link open the same page. also i checked letters in link, by share button, it's same. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
Is your phone rooted? How do you backup your phone
I do not backup for this phone. there is nothing important on this phone that it would be impossible to recover knowing passwords. Contacts are synchronized through Google. I have never even connected this phone to a computer) this was not necessary.
Where did you get the seed words from? I got it from Electrum, when used it first time.
you said you downloaded it from the electrum site and later you say you got it from play store. so which is it? can you confirm that this is the place where you got it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
You get the app on your phone to display your address as a QR code. Then the ATM takes a picture of that QR code and that's how the address is transferred over to it.
Bitcoin transfers are irreversible so be very careful that you don't send the coins to someone else's address. Addresses have a checksum in them to prevent typos and so do QR codes so typos are highly unlikely. The bigger risk is that you make a mistake and have the ATM send money to somebody elses address. Only use an address from the receive part of your bitcoin wallet.
Electrum is a good mobile wallet for android
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
Be sure to write down the seed words using pen and paper and store them safely offline.
Yes: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
But I don't think the phone app works with hardware wallets.
I'm on Android. I just installed Copay, too... Any suggestions for what I should switch to? The Electrum app has some severe rating problems on Google Play recently, although it kind of seemed like every wallet does.
No, I don't use anything bitcoin related on my phone.
The official app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum) seems to be a bit buggy for some people. Just use a PC to buy stuff?
Always download from official sources.

Are you positive you installed the official android electrum?
From their website it's this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
Or
you can install directly from their website

Unfortunately there are way to many fake imposter wallets in the play store. You need to be extra vigilant.
Not true. Electrum users who got burned all fell prey to phishing attacks. If you download a program from any source someone tells you to, there's nothing anybody can do for you.
But, as a precaution, the Electrum developers removed the functionality of the server sending the client a message.
However, if you get Electrum ONLY from https://electrum.org and verify the signature of the program, then you won't be phished.
Or, the Google Play store and ONLY from this developer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
Or, if you use the version that comes preinstalled with Tails and you get Tails ONLY from here: https://tails.boum.org/ And again verify the download.
You can see Thomas Voegtlin's (the lead developer of Electrum) GPG-fingerprint in this video, where he is giving a lecture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjYCXOyDy7Y. Here is a reproduction of that fingerprint:

Coinbase is okay. It doesn't hurt to have 1 or 2 additional accounts with other reputable exchanges like bitstamp.net or kraken.com, in case Coinbase goes down again or whatever.
It's more important to withdraw your bitcoin to your own wallet.
A good balance of security and ease of use, is to buy a hardware wallet like a Trezor (https://trezor.io).
Or use an old android phone or tablet, or buy a cheap one and do the following:
ATTENTION: Download Electrum ONLY from the Google Play store or ELECTRUM.ORG, nowhere else, no matter what. Ignore ALL messages, even from the Electrum-app itself, if it prompts you to download "a new version" of Electrum. Only Google Play store or Electrum.Org.
Electrum cold storage: https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.html
Trezor (https://trezor.io). Works with Mycelium (Android) and Electrum (only get it from https://electrum.org or the Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum . Every other source must be regarded as malware.)
This is the correct one from the play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
and same link from the official site here - https://electrum.org/#download
If you are looking for a good android wallet with segwit and also RBF and CPFP use Electrum mobile! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
I hear you. And I understand the overwhelming feeling when it comes to the unknown.
If you are interested, I'd recommend Bitcoin just because it is so established and simple still.
Take your cellphone and download a wallet onto it. I would recommend Electrum:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum&gl=US

For the moment of creation you will be presented a "seed phrase". This is a collection of 12, 24 or 25 words that encode your password. This password is not stored anywhere to compare it to; No server or other entity ever knows this password!
This password allows you and only you (and those in posession of the "seed phrase", so be careful!) to send transactions.

A seed word looks like this:
witch collapse practice feed shame open despair creek road again ice least
or
gravity trophy suspect shrimp sheriff avocado label trust tragic dove pitch title network myself task spell protect smooth diary sword brain blossom bulb under

Again, you will be presented with this upon the creation of your own wallet. You write those words down with a pen on a piece of paper. Store this paper somewhere save, maybe even a bank vault. This is everything you need to gain access to your funds.
If you are able to remember these words, you can be stripped naked, sent accross the world into an unknown country and be left alone. All you have to do is find internet access, download a wallet (almost any wallet will do; It does not need to be Electrum) and enter this "seed phrase". You will have access to your funds again.

Addendum:
Later on, if you use Electrum (but I guess every other wallet will do too), it will ask you for a password. This password is used so you don't have to enter your seed phrase every time you want to access your wallet.

This is everything you need to know if you want to store wealth worth less than 2-3 months of your salary after taxes. If you are genuinely interested and want to know more about this topic, feel free to ask me. I'm happy to help.
Electrum has a mobile wallet
BTC ეწვიეთ: https://electrum.org/#home
BTC გადმოწერა: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
you can use a wallet like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum&hl=en_US&gl=US it's very easy to use a wallet once you understand how it works. you can receive payments and hold currency on your device. earnings may be taxable. it's most profitable to accept this payment when you believe the price of the coin will grow for the date when you will cash in. if the price can't sustain itself then you want to cash out asap. advanced exchanges like kraken can be funded with large amounts and then converted to various national currencies or switched into different investment cryptocurrencies to be gambled or staked over time. this profit or loss may also be taxable. you could also use bitcoin for transfering money to a friend who wants to try bitcoin or to buy a limited selection of actual products like chaturbate tokens. you might want to be discreet and organize transaction through twitter dms or something. big donations or tippers would benefit you the most. the price of the coin could fall by 50% and you still wouldn't lose money compared to fees on cam sites. but few people care enough to go through the hassle of learning about this great technology. maybe you could provide discounts to encourage their initial adoption. customers enjoy the tipping in the chatroom more sometimes.. the sounds, the reactions, the ease of use and flexibility, the feeling of power, generosity, or control. it's unfortunate that a bulk $100 tip is really more like a transfer but it' still going to be split 50/50 between you and the site operators.
the system fee for bitcoin transactions is bizzarely high right now due to recent price spikes. $8 per transaction! lightning wallets can eliminate the fee. i don't know too much about important technical details. here is a link to a lightning wallet. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.breez.client&hl=en_US&gl=US there are other coins aside from bitcoin such as litecoin or monero which can be converted to national currencies but don't have so much of a fee right now.
if you REALLY want to.

How urgent is the tx? its a lot easier to just do nothing and wait.

To answer your specific question, we simply forgot to release 3.3.8 on Google Play.
As for the other comments in this thread: while in general it is good advice to only download from electrum.org (also in sidebar); if you trust Google, you can of course also download the Android app from Google Play [0]. It is perfectly fine to do so. The same precaution applies as for downloading from a website: you have to make sure that you download the genuine app and not a fake clone (but this only needs to be checked during install time and not for subsequent updates [1]).
-----
[0]: Note that the link to the genuine Electrum app on the Google Play store can also be found on electrum.org.
[1]: Android as an operating system ensures that any newer version of an already installed application is signed by the same RSA public key as the previous version, and hence as long as 2048-bit RSA is secure, the app store itself does not need to be trusted *at all* for merely updating an already installed application.
A hardware wallet would help with this attack because you can verify the address on the HW wallet screen. Sorry for your loss.
P.S.. personally after such an attack I would suggest reinstalling the OS. Most of the time these attacks occur from getting involved in altcoins or downloading some form of crypto related software other than a trusted Bitcoin only software. Also be very careful to only upgrade electrum (this can be used with HW wallets too) from trusted sources-
https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum
https://electrum.org/#download
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
As a ton of impostor electrum software exists out there.
Unless you get a HW wallet I would suggest just keeping a BTC wallet on our cell phone instead for a Hot wallet.
Is this the marketplace page? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
Did you root it? Installed a malicious software?
I love Electrum. It's what I typically use on Android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum
>Electrum is good but it doesnt have any mobile app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.electrum.electrum&hl=en_GB
A little side note, Electrum was recently put up on the Play store for Android.

The plebians should start accepting BTC without any worries! Even if the kirana store doesn't accept it, they can spend it in various ways:
There are many other uses too (some sites sell Amazon Gift Cards for BTC, for instance), and the options will only keep increasing in future. By installing the Electrum Bitcoin Wallet App on his android phone, even your kirana wala can start accepting bitcoins. Maybe who knows, he might even do that in next 5-10 years!
