Looks like a hearthstone clone, but it changes up the formula quite a bit. Lots of variety, well-balanced, asymmetric gameplay. My only complaint about this game is that you can't play it natively on PC.

PvZ Heroes looks good for now. You don't have to upgrade cards so not as IAP heavy as Clash Royale.

Hmm, that might be another issue. Old Timey gamers used to hang around and play the games with eachother because there was not so much competition that was actively trying to fight for your free time. Everyone can rally behind games like Doom ( 1993 ) UT99 ( 1999 ) or Half Life ( 2004 ) Red Alert 1 ( 1998 ) and other titles that have been retroactively labeled classic, because everyone remembers them fondly ( sometimes undeservingly so ). In those days games of that caliber were not commonplace. As such those that did had a more devout fanbase.
These days there are several MOBA games ( DOTA 2, LoL, HoN if that is still around, DOTA original ) and this splits up the fanbase of that genre. Even if there are way more people, it still splits them up, making people demand more from the game, and if they do not like it they jump ship.
There are even companies in league with themselves for having such a broad scala of FPS games in large fields, not to mention all the other ( mostly smaller ) companies who are there to eat their fair/undeserving piece of the proverbial cake.
This thing came to mind as I wrote that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgCA30Zaklg
When Pokemon Go came around everyone I know was hoping that it would unify people. And it did, it unified them in Hatred towards Niantic for pretty much screwing a new IP like this so hard. They arguably could have had it all but squandered their potential. And in turn people ran to another game. A lot of people I know ran to Plants vs Zombies Heroes ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.gp.pvzheroes&hl=en ) Which might even be a game you did not even hear about, Unless from mouth to ear or I think TotalBiscuit mentioned it once.
Point of this story bit is mostly, yeah, I agree, people need to play eachothers game, and people need to be somewhat face to face with eachother ( this is why I love LAN parties so much ). If I had to travel more I would probably buy a Nintendo NX, because the power of a portable console is that you can so easily share that what it is you are doing.
In the end, what might be the biggest problem, is that there are too many games, and it has turned the community ( entire gaming comunity ) sour and spoiled from choice.
The video is frustrating and nonsensical. ( Zero useful information about the games. The titles of the games are randomly set before or after the game. etc ... )

I was always a huge fan of PvZ since the first PC version as well as I am a fan of card games so this is a perfection for me
