~~If you received an SMS notification with a chat message from someone using Google Allo, you can download the app to reply and to start using the app yourself to message your friends.~~
~~If you don't want to download Allo, you can still reply to the SMS notification you received. The Allo user will be messaging you from the app, and your SMS responses will go to their app.~~
~~Play Store listing has also updated with new logo~~

Good thing you stopped since Google is axing Allo shortly anyway:
"Update: We'll stop supporting Allo in March 2019, Update your app so you can export your chats."

Allo is easily my most used app.
Samsung Internet Browser might be my best.
Not necessarily pixel exclusive, but you should install Google Allo and Duo. They're sort of Google's answer to iMessages and FaceTime, respectively. My wife and I use Allo exclusively when we chat.
Another feature is in the Google photos app, you can set it to automatically share your backed up photos with each other. Again, it's technically something you can do on any Android device or if you have the right ios app installed
> "now if only anyone used Allo"
That's because they launched it focusing on the emojis and drawing capabilities, and then later on they added "Incognito mode - Send messages with end-to-end encryption", which is great, but they failed to tell anyone that feature existed.
I'd be much more inclined to use Allo if the privacy features were the #1 feature, and all emojis/drawings/stickers were able to be disabled.
Is it even compatible with normal SMS, MMS, and Apple messages? If not, then that's a huge deal-breaker, except for the end-to-end encryption mode, obviously that can't be used with other services.

Using the Google Assistant in Google Allo for language learning.
You could cycle through various languages [en - de - pt - es - fr -en ] by saying:
[en - de] Speak German to me
[de - pt] Spreche Portugiesisch mit mir
[pt - es] fala espanhol comigo
[es - fr] háblame en francés
[fr- en] parle-moi en anglais
PS
One can supplement this by using Google's Voice Search after selecting additional languages.
Settings | Language & Input | Google voice typing
They just updated the logo in the playstore!
Allo has rounded chat boxes, Messenger's are square.
The image on the Nougat page have square boxes, and there are multiple other differences.
If you don't mind texting instead of talking, a text-only preview version of Google Assistant is embedded in Google Allo.
If you want the exact same experience, you'll have to wait until Google releases it (if ever), or get a Nougat ROM for the OP3 and follow this.
if you look here on the play store page for allo, 2.0 is up but it's not compatible with any of my devices. Interesting

Google Allo. Google tends to take care to make its cross-platform apps compatible, and sometimes the iOS version is more feature-packed.
> If Google created a data messaging service that integrates appropriately with Google assistant, and naturally had an iPhone app it would take off immediately.
Hmm, sounds familiar...
Long pressing the home button on select phones running Android 6.0+ should open Assistant. If you're on an older or unsupported phone, you can always get Allo, which contains Assistant.
> Roadmap for allowing non-Pixel owners to use Google Assistant
Any Android user can use Google Assistant right now. Download Google Allo from the play store.
Yep, they have an app called Allo coming soon that should be a messenger solar to iMessage. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball
Yesterday they released Duo, which for lack of a better description is a FaceTime competitor.
I am pretty sure it is real, it even has the proper ratings for the apps. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball&hl=en

"Incognito mode Chat privately with end-to-end encryption. Control how long your messages stick around with expiring chats. Use private notifications to hide your chats from shoulder surfers." From Google Play description
for Android:
List made using List My Apps
The app is called Allo (iOS version), (Android version). It's a messaging app made by Google
Tons of neat features in it but that right there is called Google Assistant. You can ask it questions and it'll respond right in the app either talking just to it or in a convo with someone else.
For instance if I'm talking to my friend, I can do this and we both see it.
It's built into their messaging program Allo
Which to be honest I only use currently for the assistant

Pre-registration is open on the Play Store
Btw, you can pre-registered for Allo/Duo here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball
Nothing interesting really, but here's all mine:

Um... why are there user reviews on the Play Store page for Allo? I think some dogfooding is going on...

— Priscilla Chan a 31 ans. »
(un peu flippant)
You can also use it in Google Allo.
You can download Google Allo (text messaging app) and it comes with it.
Allo is a messaging app that is basically Google's take on iMessage.
You enter your cell phone # and then it sends you a confirmation text. If you gave it permission to read your texts, it enters the confirmation code for you. If not, you have to enter it yourself.
The contacts permission is to identify those you send and receive messages from.
The camera/media permission is because, well, you can send pictures and videos, and use a profile picture.
The reason they need all this information (vs a regular text app, which technically only needs read/send SMS permissions and view contacts, although if you know all your #s you can do without that one) is because this is Google's competitor to iMessage.
If you and someone else are both using Allo, it'll be delivered via Google, which allows for rich text encoding and better multimedia features (see this and this for more info). They use cell phone #s because more people have cell #s than Google accounts, especially in developing countries. If you have Allo but the other person does not, it displays this message:
>punctuwation (+11234567890) added you on Google Allo to chat. Text HELP to learn more or STOP to unsubscribe.
>punctuwation: (message)
(I have 2 #s, so I tested this with my second #. They send it from the SMS short code 21475.)
TL;DR - sorry, there really is nothing fishy going on here.
If I could get WiFi messaging to work, I'd probably dump Allo.

Haha, you should try Google Allo!
You can also use it in Google Allo.
Download Allo.
Speculation is that since reviews are cropping up for the app in the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball&hl=en) release might be imminent.
You can subscribe and get notification when Allo is available here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball&hl=en

You can pre-register for Allo now. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball&hl=en
Heres a few
Specifically the "Thanks again" just seems passive aggressive. I would think it was just a copy paste and that they respond to 5 star reviews that way too, but I didn't see them responding to any 5 star reviews, just the 1-2 star ones.
Aaaand Allo is there too.

The Allo app on Google Play Store brings you the Google Assistant, preview edition.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball&hl=en
For users without root: just install Allo: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball
UPD: it will not enable all functions (like quick run from the navbar). It just give you chance to chat with assistant inside the app
Download Allo. It has the Google assistant built in.

Pretty useless tbh. Mostly Google fanboys use it
They rename Allo and change to Fireball ?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fireball
Look the last word on the link
Is it the "pre-register" button on the playstore? (Instead of "Download," the button says "pre-register") If so, you commentors above are lazy fucks. :)
