So what you need is a non-custodial wallet - the one I linked is that. There are others too. On Android, langerhans' wallet is completely free of any corporate infrastructure in the middle and last time I checked someone here was working on a new iOS wallet - though I have not received the launch party invite to date, so I'm not sure where they're at with that.
I use core, my ledger or paper, smaller amounts in core bigger amounts on ledger or paper If you want to create you paperwallet in a safe and secure way is her a guide

Otherwise if on the move i use an dogecoin wallet app for android but remember only small amounts, do to security.

Some coinbase wallet people hang on r/dogecoindev sometimes. I miss this feature (sweep paper wallet) too. The only 2 softwares that I have that can do it is u/langer_hans' android wallet and the block_io sweep command line stuffs. Both will not expose your keys to the outside but just use it to sign locally
If it's the doge android app, try to install it again and import the keys. I used the app in 2014 (don't think it was there in 2013).

If it asks for a password, then... well... you're screwed.
It's the Dogecoin Wallet app from Dogecoin Wallet from langerhans:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&utm_source=global_co&utm_medium=prtnr&utm_content=Mar2515&utm_campaign=PartBadge&pcampaignid=MKT-AC-global-none-all-co-pr-py-PartBadges-Oct1515-1
Well if you are looking for a mobile wallet use
langerhans Dogecoin Wallet, he is a developer for Dogecoin, here is their sub & you can see he is listed a a developer in the sidebar mod list.
https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoindev/
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=en
But PLEASE BACK UP & don't keep to much in it.
The main problem people have with mobile wallets is they forget about it when they need to reformat their phone & they do a reset & lose their coins because they did not have a backup.
Absolutely, you just need the android wallet by /u/langerhans
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet
Use the camera icon fro the app or the widget, and you can check a paper wallet's balance from the privkey (then choose if you want to "sweep" any coins over)
If you need to just check a pubkey QR code, scan it with barcode scanner and paste the address into the search box at dogechain.info https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.zxing.client.android
I was surprised to see a reply to my almost 5 year comment!
And yes, here is the app I was referencing. Good luck!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=en_US&gl=US
> you just scan a 2D code and money is transferred.
I built that demo using mid-2014 Dogecoin tech we formalized in 1.7... Doesn't need a government-approved & monitored "neo-bank" like Alipay or WeChat pay or the EU's "instant pay" schemes.
I'll try to make time to do another demo when we get the payment channels a bit more standardized.
Is that what you're looking for?
This is an encrypted backup file created by the Dogecoin Android app from langerhans:

Dude. is it the Langerhans Android wallet!?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=en_US&gl=US
I have your solution, buddy it's openssl to decrypt the .wallet file into a pure private key or even the 12 word seed. I'll have to find you the rest of the tutorial on Stack overflow for you but PLEASE let me know if that's the app they're stuck in
I do, but it is asking for a password to restore the wallet in the app. Maybe I should try a different wallet?
I used this one originally. Decided to install the same one to try to restore the wallet. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet
This is the one recommended on the official dogecoin site, and it's the one I use. When you send doge into it there will be a 30ish minute delay so don't panic. You didn't lose it
Interestingly, when I googled "dogecoin wallet key base64," this site was the first result, which is apparently a mirror of this reddit post?!?!
In any event, I did a bit more digging and found that it was a saved wallet from the Dogecoin Wallet app on Android. Apparently it encrypts your private key and password protects the encryption, then base64's the whole string. Once I imported the file and guessed the password, I got full access to my wallet.
Since the word salted was part of the base64 decrypted string, I wonder if the file included a salted hash of the password I used along with the encrypted private key, which doesn't seem very safe.
As an aside, it's still syncing (74 months behind as I type this), but as of April 22nd, 2014, the wallet had 8,004.17 doge.
Thanks for your help!
From the main site. This one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&utm_source=global_co&utm_medium=prtnr&utm_content=Mar2515&utm_campaign=PartBadge&pcampaignid=MKT-AC-global-none-all-co-pr-py-PartBadges-Oct1515-1
It's not opensource, but it's the "poster" wallet.
User name and password are not better than mnemonic words.
Most Android wallets don't require seed verification. Some don't require setting a password. You can tell them to ignore it for now. But then you should keep an eye on them. If they show interest in cryptocurrencies, make them write the seed down and check that they do it properly. Most people will do some bullshit like taking a screenshot of the seed and store it on the phone.
Dogecoin Wallet for Android doesn't use mnemonic seed, which just makes the backup process more involved.
There is a web wallet: [https://my.dogechain.info], but I don't recommend it. Use only as last resort.
I'm still using Coinomi for its convenience for small amounts.
There is open source Dogecoin Wallet, on Google Play.
Note that typical Android is non-free. Using open source apps is good, but for larger amounts of crypto you'd also want an open source OS. Or better yet, a hardware wallet.

> I added multiple wallets to keep track of all my doge, some wallet doesn’t show the amount(Freewallet), is it because they are kept in Cold Storage? Nevertheless, it’s a good app to use as I can still see all the transactions easily. Thank you and well done :)
We use https://dogechain.info/ API to read balances, if there balance is visible, then you should see it.
Some mobile wallets (for example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=pl ) are changing your address every time you receive payment, so probably you won't catch it.
The official Dogecoin Android wallet works quite well (once you let it sync. Don't worry, it doesn't download the full blockchain, just verifies it.)
i dont have experience with android/IOS wallets because i am afraid to store my doge there but the official wallet for android is
If yes, see how it says no mining or faucets there.
Core would be the go to one, given no lightwallets are really made to handle these types of transactions. While they are easier they are meant more for mobile usability and funds access, not as a primary wallet so function very differently, also have limitations.
If core is not an option then we get into an area that gets sort of ehhh which is where we summon /u/Fulvio55
this wallet, i got it from the sidebar, and there is a huge long way to get your coins out, but i am getting errors in it
https://github.com/langerhans/dogecoin-wallet-new/blob/master/wallet/README.recover
It depends what app you're using. I saw someone having this issue not to long ago with the Dogecoin Wallet. I believe you have to find the menu options > hit backup wallet > then a restore wallet option should pop up. Make sure you have your old wallet file in there to read (also please back it up before doing so shibe!).
I used this one for years dogecoin wallet but recently started using this one and just sent the doge to the new address. The latter one is pretty good.
Which wallet is it? Don't use DoughWallet, FreeWallet or this Dogecoin Wallet! They are all either a scam, or they do not function well. They might work for now but they are unstable and might stop working in the future. Use Coinomi or print a paper wallet
Completely different. I was using the dogecoin wallet by 'langerhans'.
I just tried refreshing the blockchain on the app, and not the wallet ID is different again.
It states 'to protect your privacy, your address will change once it recieves a payment'.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=en_GB
I think I might have fallen for a scam.
EDIT the wallet has generated lots of addresses for me. I have just found the address. I am confident that when it refreshes my DOGE will be there :)
Dogechain.info has been around for a while and should be ok, just don't store a lot of money in any kind of online wallet ;)
If you want a real wallet on your (Android) smartphone you should use the official Dogecoin wallet. Don't let yourself be scared away by the negative reviews, (see my post about that here) they just didn't sync their chain...
The Android Dogecoin Wallet sometimes seems hanky to begin connecting to the Dogecoin network updating its blockchain. The Android Dogecoin Wallet is a full wallet and thus requires your copy of the blockchain to be fully up to date before you can send any coins.
I'm not sure if it is always the case, but I think if you send before the wallet's blockchain is up to date, the transaction will never send (or at least never confirm). You probably need to ensure the blockchain is up to date, double check the previous transaction is still stuck, then send it again.
Synchronizing your blockchain copy is usually something you only want to do while connected via Wifi due to data usage. The Android Dogecoin Wallet has an option to only allow synchronizing while connected to Wifi. This would prevent you from synchronizing if you forgot about it and weren't connected to Wifi often.
To ensure your blockchain is up to date, ope the Dogecoin Wallet on your Android, click your phone's menu button, and choose "Network monitor". Here you get two panels you can swipe between. One, "Peers", shows the Dogecoin nodes you are currently connected to. The second panel, "Blocks", lists the blocks your wallet has received.
It may take a few minutes for your wallet to start connecting to clients. Dogecoin creates a new block around ever minute, so if you look at your "Blocks" panel, the top one says how old it was. If it says "2 minutes ago" or less, then your blockchain is up to date. If it says "2 years ago", you may have a long wait before you can use this Dogecoin Wallet to send any coins. Ensure you have a non-metered Wifi network connection and give it some time.
>be able to read in a doge paperwallet
Do you mean transfer from your paper wallet to your phone wallet?
The standard android wallet can do this with the sweep paper wallet function. It will transfer the whole paper wallet though, it will not keep change in paper. I suppose you could manually send the change back to the paper wallet when you are done
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet
+/u/dogetipbot 200 doge verify
This should get you started, you should get a message about excepting this tip and it will explain how the tipbot works on reddit.
Now for starting an account or wallet you can just download one and it will give you an address. I use this one on Android but there should be one for any platform.
With doge and bitcoin(others I'm sure) you don't sign up for an account but you get a long number/letter string and that is your address that others use to send you money. Here on reddit we use the dogetipbot to tip each other, it will have a separate address from your wallet but you can send doge back and forth as needed.
There is way too much to explain all in one go so just follow through with the tip, download a wallet read a bit here and there and get back to us and we can go from there. Have fun and welcome to a whole new world.
I fear the new install overwrite the first wallet.dat file. Can one shibe confirm this? If you have two wallet.dat files on your pc the older one could hold the keys for your 1700 doge. I see little hope thou. But as mentioned above for small amounts you can use a mobile wallet until you fully understand how to backup and copy backups in your dogecoin-qt. The one from Langer Hans is great. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet
Good luck with the dogecoin qt setup. Maybe try to get the system time from Internet and not set manually if you have done. Welcome +/u/dogetipbot 1000 doge
I need some help here, because I couldn't actually get it working. Don't install the wallet unless you can find a working faucet.

I think the existing Android wallet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&utm_source=global_co&utm_medium=prtnr&utm_content=Mar2515&utm_campaign=PartBadge&pcampaignid=MKT-AC-global-none-all-co-pr-py-PartBadges-Oct1515-1) is a good first step but it needs
- the new lower fees and
- there is a bug when u try to send coins ("invalid Dogecoin URI")
Read the sticky if you haven't already.
You basically don't need core wallet to be able to mine dogecoins. Mining is not profitable if you are like most of us little players out there. Because of competitors to mine a block is nearly impossible that why miners group them selfs in so called pools to be able to mine together to mine the block.
So you can even use paper wallet for instance and to connect to a pool to be able to mine dogecoin.
To speed up syncing process you may want to use this bootstrap file that will speed up a process - https://bootstrap.chain.so/
There are also other types of wallet clients - that won't require you to download full blockchain, so that they won't use your computer space.
MultiDoge is popular light client but it uses SPV - it connects directly to a server nodes to broadcast the transaction. The main drawback is that sometimes it can be hard to send a transaction if you have to many unspent inputs, so if you want to use it wouldn't be clever idea to use it for faucets, nor for mining payouts.
Other PC light clients: https://altaapps.io/ , https://www.exodus.io/
Android : https://coinomi.com/ , Dogecoin Wallet
Will recommend for now to use some client wallet, when you understand how things work you could also use something like https://coinb.in they let you sign and broadcast the transaction manually to their servers, everything is done on your browser side so that your private key never leaves your computer.

Tutorial - How to buy Dogecoin II
How to buy Dogecoins as of 4 December 2018
Where to store your Dogecoins
Before we begin with the explanation of how to purchase Dogecoins, we should know where we can store our acquired coins.
It is, by all means, always highly advised to use the Dogecoin Core Wallet:
Once downloaded and executed, please let it fully synchronize. If not fully synchronized, e.g. the balance of an address can be incorrect.
If you may find the disk space required for the core wallet is too big, you can also download the 'lightweight' Multidoge wallet.
Further down the line, for the real HODLERS, you can also make usage of a paperwallet. E.g. from Walletgenerator.net.
Please note [1]: Do NOT share your private key with anyone under any circumstances. Your private key is your coins. By losing access to your private key, you will lose access to your coins.
The usage of mobile wallets differs in my opinion. The only things I could say regarding mobile wallets is to firstly, not use a mobile wallet which does not grant you access to your private keys. Please check Note 1 above. Secondly, I highly discourage users to use their mobile wallets to store high sums of Dogecoin. Please do not do this. If you are going to HODL a large amount of Dogecoins, perhaps consider a paperwallet.
For Android users, you are in luck! You can make usage of the Dogecoin Android mobile wallet.
For iOS users, I am sorry to mention that there is not an official wallet for iOS to use.
How to buy Dogecoin
Before we start, all the services listed below are third parties and are in no way associated with the Dogecoin Dev team (neither am I). As a side note, the Dogecoin ticker is mostly DOGE or XDG.
Please note [2]: These are a couple of the ones to my knowledge. I can not assure the actions of any exchange-listed below, only can say they are relatively reputated and are just suggestions. There could perhaps be an exchange you know that I am unaware of, feel free to comment it and I'll add it!
Purchasing Dogecoin with fiat in the Europian Union:
Litebit (minimum 10 Euro)
Anycoindirect (minimum 10 Euro)
Purchasing Dogecoin with fiat in the United States:
Please note [3]: I highly discourage any user to hold their coins on an exchange. Once you have bought your coins, I highly suggest you withdraw these to your personal wallet were you have the private key in possession.
1: This exchange requires KYC with ID
2: For Coinbase, it's a little bit different. Due to Coinbase not having a USD/DOGE pair, you can buy Litecoin on Coinbase and convert this to Dogecoins via Shapeshift.io^1.
Enjoy! You have successfully bought yourself some wonderful Dogecoins! Such wow, much moon!

Exodus wants to pay unnecessarily high transaction fees. But it's still better than if the fee was too low. Here is some other wallet software that supports Dogecoin.
All of them support BIP-39 seed, easy to backup.
Avoid custodial wallets, especially Freewallet.
There is no single best wallet software. I honestly don't know what to recommend. But here is what we have.

Good: open source, single currency, serverless.
Bad: doesn't support BIP 39 seed, slower than some other wallets.
There is no single best wallet software. I honestly don't know what to recommend. But here is what we have.
All of them support BIP-39 seed, easy to backup.
Avoid custodial wallets, especially Freewallet.
Dogecoin core - makes you a node in the network, main wallet and it is used to keep the decentralized dogecoin running.
SVP client : a simplified payment verification it downloads only the block headers and also keep information about your addresses and it connects to the main nodes in the network.
Lightweight clients : they keep the private keys on your device and also they create and sign the transaction on your device but they need 3rd party server to send the transaction and also to gain the information about your transactions/balance.
Coinomi - android , open source
Jaxx - android, IOS , Desktop , some parts open source
Exodus - Desktop , open source
Alta wallet - Desktop , IOS , Android , not open source, or I couldn't find its source
Online : They keep every information on their server, some of them keep info encrypted so that only you have the access to your coins and some of them even don't give you to see your private keys. For these trust in a provider of a wallet is a must.
Block.io - you are able to see private keys
Dogechain.info - you are able to see private keys
Freewallet.org - only android and IOS apps atm, they don't give you access to your private key
Cryptonator - they don't give you access to your private key
and any other exchange with an option to deposit/send , if you don't have to don't use Online wallets for security reasons
Hardware : These are something similar to a light wallets with a difference, your private key is not on your device, it is in fact on this hardware wallet/device. People like to use them as malware can't get the keys easily. For me they are expensive.
there might be more of them
Paper Wallets : These are often called "cold storage" - they generate the private key and public key randomly. You are still able to receive coins but when you need to send you will need your private key to do so. The advantage of paper wallets is that they essentially store your dogecoin on a physical piece of paper, removing it from the digital world and safeguarding it in the physical one. This makes them essentially unreachable for spending until they are brought back online, but it is the most secure way to store dogecoin long term.
When making these it is advised to run it on offline computer or on live OS without Internet connection. SO that you leave no trace about making it and also making harder for private key to be discovered.
You can use core wallet to generate addresses
You can also use some BIP39 generator - Chose dogecoin here and generate random words
Wallet Generator - brain wallet option is that you write your own words and it will generate private and address from those words concept is that you keep it in your brain.
MultiSignature : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Multisignature
Useful tools : These lets you create transactions manually, multi sig or ordinary address. They only use block explorers to gain the info about the balance, inputs and outputs, and to broadcast the transaction later on.
coinb.in - chose dogecoin network
BE YOUR OWN BANK = KEEP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS A SECRET
Always have a backup in some form
You have an sweep option. Sweep will simply transfer all of the coins from your address to an existing one on a wallet, so to a new one.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet - has a sweep option, click on 3 doots on top right corner then -> Sweep paper wallet
I personally use another wallet https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinomi.wallet which has a sweep option too (it is multi coin so its great for keeping multiple coins backed up by a single mnemonic, seed) They also have an option to sweep coins. I like them as I can manage my fees (so I am able to send dogecoins with 0fee - tho need to be careful cuz if you have to many outputs it can result that founds may not be send - but usually they do, this can be done as our blockchain is not overcrowded).
if you are using coinomi you need to click on dogecoin within their wallet go to 3dots (top right corner) and chose Sweep wallet.
EDIT: explanation sweep/import private keys can be found here : https://99bitcoins.com/know-more-private-key-import-vs-sweep-difference
/u/langer_hans It would be nice if you write to F-Droid to help them to build your app, since according to this, they can't build it. Doing this, you will gain reputation, since they 'review' your code is secure/safe/trustworthy. They recompile your source code and distribute your APK file, like Google Play does. If you read the latest comments of the spanish version of Google Play, you will find very bad reviews about your app (some comments are very creepy).
There is an online-service wallet, long around: https://dogechain.info/wallet/
There is an SPV wallet, from one of the core devs for android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=de&gl=US
There is a (non open source) iOs wallet: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/coinomi-wallet/id1333588809
There is a long known desktop wallet (open source): https://www.exodus.com/
Also hardware wallets support Dogecoin, i.e. Ledger - so there is plenty around already that fit different needs (fast, accessible or secure).
Hope this helps a bit. Having a couple of bucks on an online wallet, a hundret on a wallet app and a big chunk on your hardware wallet probably should be totally fine.
Also - last but not least - you can have papper wallets and spend the money using https://coinb.in/ - You don't need an hardware wallet, a service or whatever that could break. But imho it isn't that easy to use compared to other tools mentioned above (:
PS: I skipped the very obvious Dogecoin Core Wallet - because it is much more than just a wallet!
Yep This is the app dogecoin wallet

I recommend also Exodus which is good enough or yo have the Dogecoin Wallet (hhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet) which is good too.
Hello, do you followed my tutorial? If yes, then binance has the private keys and binance manage it, you have to decide what risk you want to take. Basically: Not your private key = not your coins.
But you can easily withdrawl your Doge from binance to your private wallet. For this you first need a Dogecoin Wallet and "very important" keep the private key safe before you send coins there.

Now I use Coinomi which is better.
No worries, this is all complex stuff.
Light Wallet just get an address
If you have an Android device, grab the Android app
I don't know anything about IOS light wallets so I can't make any recommendations. The dogecoin site doesn't appear to have iOS information.
For your desktop, Multi Doge supports Win/Mac/Linux.
Full Client
Go to http://dogecoin.com/ and download Dogecoin Core. It will take several hours to sync the entire blockchain, but if you have your computer on all the time it helps the network. You can generate an address with this too.
Once you get an address, post it here for Ð10 free
It's this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=en
I can decrypt it on the app but I do not know how to decrypt it on PC.
Here is the official wallet: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet
I suppose the application is this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=es
The dogecoin app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet
I've used it to export keys, I'm sure of it. I'll dig out anything I can find, give me a short while :)
Try importing it into Android wallet. You probably need a password to decrypt this wallet.
Stay away from this app!. RUN AWAY! If you read user reviews on Google Play, you will find MANY users complaining about slow transactions, lost payments and even stolen money. Stop using this app right now if you don't want to loose your money and if you still have your private keys, move your Dogecoins to another safe wallet using coinb.in and then use Coinomi.
I would personally avoid them, since they hold YOUR private keys. Therefore they are their coins, not yours.
I would suggest these wallets for android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinomi.wallet
And for PC, something like http://multidoge.org/
It is of course your choice but, i advise you not to store your dogecoins on 3rd party. Make sure you are the only holder of the keys, because they can take your funds from most of the online wallets just like that, because you give the ownership of the coins to them. Let me know if you have more questions, i would love to answer them if you do :)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=en This one, you can backup your keys, but there is no way to restore them +/u/dogetipbot 50 doge verify
Do you mean this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.langerhans.wallet&hl=en ?
There won't be an Android version of doughwallet, /u/langer_hans's Android wallet is perfectly fine.
He looks like the dogecoin dog.
