ES was my go to for a while until they started bloating and getting sketchy - I switched to Amaze File Manager -- it's open source and does just file management. SMB/Windows shares are under Cloud Connection.

It's alright man. No need to be this apologetic. To answer your original question, yes, Google's protection looks effective from what I've seen. If you're looking for a file explorer substitute, I'd suggest Amaze. It looks great and is open source.

You might be better installing a file manager on your phone,enabling show hidden files then searching for them. If the podcast requires authentication then they may be encrypted.

Wow, I don't know how to reply to that. Conflating "ugly" with "open and trustworthy" is crazy and makes no sense, doubly so in this context. Total Commander isn't open source and never was.
It's especially absurd considering that there are actual open and free file managers on Android that are perfectly well designed, like Amaze.
Good design isn't expensive, good design merely requires some thoughtfulness. Heck, Google made it so incredibly easy to follow their Material Design guidelines, it barely even requires that any more.
If I can't trust a developer to follow simple design guidelines for the system they are developing for, if I can't trust them to put some thought into the way their users will want to use their product - why on earth would that make me think that that makes them better at following security guidelines or good coding practices otherwise? Why would that make them more trustworthy? That's insane!
P.S.: Keepass has a perfectly well designed, fully open Android app in form of Keypass2Android - not that this supports your or my argument one way or the other.

You can, but last I tried, I had to go through some hoops.
- Download the APK
- Make sure you have "unknown sources" checked
- Download a separate file manager. I prefer Amaze File Manager
- Enter the file manager
- Navigate to the downloaded APK
- Install from within the file manager
That's how I had to do it. It might be different now, I don't know. Give that a shot.
Amaze File Manager has been treating me well and is available on F-Droid. It looks good too, following the Material UI pattern, and has support for remote files like SFTP, FTP, and SMB. If you need files off of your phone, it'll also act as it's own ftp server.
It supports root directories if you ever do decide to root your phone, but you said yours isn't, so that's a non-point here.
Amaze File Manager is a very solid, and very open source (read: extremely likely it wont do any bad stuff) file browser and it's very clean too.
The method I used was pretty simple, and it was for Android.
You'll need a file manager. If you don't have one, Amaze File Manager is decent:

1) Use a file manager to navigate to: /Android/data/com.netmarble.destiny
2) Rename the folder. I just added a 6 at the end (com.netmarble.destiny6).
3) Go to your device settings -> Apps -> Destiny 6
4) Force Stop the app, then go to Storage -> Clear Data.
5) Go back to the file manager and change the name of the directory back to "com.netmarble.destiny".
Then you can open the app again and you'll be back to a fresh install.
Pro Tip: Do not use your intended nickname when you start a new account. Just use something random. Later on you'll be able to spend 1,000 gems to rename your account to what you want, but not if you've already used it on a dummy account.

Um, what? Firstly, basic data plans in developing countries isn't expensive - the issue is the speed or lack of 4G. Second, if you can't even afford to download a 4MB app, then a smartphone isn't for you. Also, most developing countries use a third-party messaging app like WhatsApp so they still have to download that and it also means they'll likely have a data plan. WhatsApp alone is 33MB btw.
Yeah you can literally just create a folder and put all the files in it through Files or Amaze File explorer. Gallary will make it act like a new album.

My files is a standard file explorer that's already on your phone.
Uninstalled ES File Explorer as soon as I saw this notification. I then discovered Amaze -- free, no ads, open source, and it even supports SMB. Highly recommended replacement for ES which has now become complete garbage. Sad really.
I also use that Files app. After the latest update the application icon is gone. Tried launching the app through System Settings - Storage - Files but it also crashed several times.
Accessing System Settings - Apps & notifications - See all apps - Files - Storage - Clear storage, fixed it for me. I am now able to do System Settings - Storage - Files and Files works ok, but no icon in the app launcher.
Until this is fixed, both Amaze File Manager and Simple File Manager Pro seem a good alternative.
Have you tried using a different app to copy the files, like Solid Explorer or Amaze?
It might just be that whatever app you're using to try to copy the files to the micro SD is wonky. Some cheap Android phones only support cards up to 64GB too which could be the problem.
Honestly Galaxy phones are probably the most reliable and definitely fast. You could find a used S8 or S8+ for under $300 now and that's still an amazing phone with one of the best cameras around right now. But there's plenty of other options from different manufacturers for less money like the Pocophone F1 or stuff from Xiaomi.
Check out /r/PickAnAndroidForMe/ they'd know better than me about the budget phones, but I imagine you could find something for $250 or less brand new that fits your needs if you aren't worried about the fastest CPU or best photo quality and screen.
Samsung actually makes plenty of budget devices too. Most of them are still really good phones, just not sure the exact prices. But I mean something like the Samsung J8 which came out in 2018 and would be like a more budget model of the S8. (I know for a fact that the J8 claims to support cards up to 256GB and usually if it supports 256GB it will also work with 512GB.)
Try a file explorer app like Amaze (play store link)
I don't have to take pictures yet, but I'd expect to find a folder like that in one of these locations: Pictures\MoviePass, Android\Media\com.moviepass.mobile, Android\data\com.moviepass.mobile, DCIM\MoviePass, or just straight up MoviePass.
just in case someone wants to get themselves a file nanager: Amaze is a good free one, and Solid Explorer is an outstanding paid one. don't get ES File Explorer, it used to be everyone's favourite but it's gone to crap since a Chinese adware company has bought it.
Download Amaze, click the menu in the top left, click app manager, export the Just Dance Now apk, send it to your S7, install. I can't promise it'll work, but I'd guess it will.

The LAN/SMB sharing way & Amaze File Manager:
computer-to-phone: turn on the FTP server in Amaze and connect to it via Windows explorer/other file manager, or use FTP client (e.g Filezilla) which from my experience reaches faster transfer speeds.
phone-to-computer: setup file sharing (the one you probably already use to share files between computers in the same network) and connect to it via Amaze.
what kind of file are you trying to open? Usually android is pretty good about having the option to open with the app you need. I'll add too that there are better file managers free for download, like Amaze File Manager.
Amaze File Manager is the only one i have stuck to, all the others tend to run heaps of background shit and eat battery or have confusing interfaces (in my limited experience)
I remember something like this happening when I used the built-in file manager. However, it worked fine using Amaze, an alternative file manager.
We might be able to help you better if you include what app you're sharing from, and what type of item you're sharing (photo, audio file, video file, PDF, etc.).

Both are material design lightweight file managers with forms of cloud/network drive support: Amaze supprots SMB file sharing, while solid explorer basically supports all popular network sharing protocols (SMB, FTP and SFTP) and cloud storage services (Dropbox, OneDrive, GDrive, Webdav services, Yandex, Box, Sugarsync, Mediafire, Mega, and more through plugins).

I use both Solid Explorer and FX. Both are good, although I prefer Solid. However I remember the free version of FX has more features than the free version of Solid, but I bought Solid. For a free and open source file explorer I also recommend Amaze File Manager .

Connect to Tailscale on your phone then get another app for FTP, for example Amaze File Manager . Then you can connect through FTP to your OMV Tailscale instance using the MagicDNS address that you got.

The default files app doesn't hide files and the hidden files its referring to are system files and app-dependent files found in the android folder and such. You could use Amaze file manager if you want to hide files and folders in storage. Its open source and free.
Can try downloading an app such as Amaze files. Was able to get the Delver Lens exported file saved locally this way. Alternatevly, you can save on your Google Drive and download on your computer. Note the dlens file is a SQLite database, not sure how useful this would be to your b&m store. [demo] [Amaze app]. I added to my TODO list to include a "download" option for this.
Many people have problems with the Google Play services stuff. I honestly don't have a good way to handle it. It's usually something that happens after Google updates Google Play. Sometimes clearing the cache on Google Play and Delver fixes the problem, but it may require Google fixing something on their end.

Your post doesn’t make any sense.
If you have an android phone your files will all show up as a separate drive under “my computer” with your phone name as the drive name. If that doesn’t work you need to install the required USB drivers for your device. Do a google search for “DEVICE NAME usb drivers” and download them from the manufacturers website.
This has nothing to do with Spotify or facebook. Your computer just doesn’t know what you are plugging in and needs you to tell it.
You can also browse your files from your phone by using a file manager like Amaze File Manager. This has nothing to do with Spotify or Facebook either.
In this scenario the best thing to do is vice-versa: use an app on your phone to sync with the mounted SMB share. I upload files using MiXplorer (the free beta version from XDA) but also Amaze and ES are good.
As alternative, you can use 7z on Android to open a FTP/HTTP server on your phone to access all files on your phone SD, from your pc! This means at that point you can use a FTP client with sync option;
or any backup software that supports remote folders (Areca), or even command line POSIX recompiled for Windows like cygwin or Minigw to sync or even mount the as a HTTP FOLDER and use any freeware sync software (i.e. ACE Backup)

Most file browsers should allow you to create a new file. As far as I can tell, Google's own "Files" app cannot do this, so you'll need another file browser. I use MiXplorer, but use whatever strikes your fancy; Amaze can do it too for example.
For future reference, you can use an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amaze.filemanager to backup your apps as .apk files before accepting an update. Root isn't required.
Sinemia seems to be partially web based, so some pages may change even if you don't update to the latest version. They may also break older versions and force us to update eventually.

I'm running Lucky Patcher in Bluestacks because I don't have a device with a large screen. I've successfully patched applications, but I can't install over the existing Google Play installation from LP and must find the APK files manually. As far as I'm aware the folder /sdcard/LuckyPatcher/ doesn't exist (I use Amaze file manager) — I can see app installation data for example in /sdcard/Android, but there's no LuckyPatcher folder.
Is the Lucky Patcher documentation outdated? Where the files are stored?

Download Amaze on the tablet. Open it, top left menu, app manager, scroll down to Swype, 3 dot menu, backup. Top left menu, storage, choose the new folder named app_backup, and the Swype apk will be there.
Send that apk to your phone (in an email or however) and install it. You'll be prompted to allow installs from unknown sources if you haven't already done so in the past. Once you install Swype, you can disable that option if you like.

Apks or Installed apps? If you are talking about apk files, use File Manager app. And from there, go through each folders to check if there are any apk files left on your phone. You can also search ".apk" in search bar of file manager.
If you download apks via browser app, It will be under Downloads folder. Where it shows all downloaded files from browser.

You should also share screenshots of your installed apps list. Go to settings > Apps or Installed apps. And send screenshot of that list. We might be able to find suspicious app.
Do you have the option to explore Verwendeter Platz/further used space if you tap on that section? On my device, that takes me to the root of default internal storage. If TouchWiz allows you to do the same, you could navigate through the files and directories to identify what is taking up space.
If not, you can use your preferred file explorer to do so. If you don't have one, I like Amaze; a lot of people prefer MiXplorer but it has to be side-loaded. Hope that helps.
Any file explorer app with FTP capability could do that. Windows Explorer can be used as an FTP client.
If you're trying to copy specific files over, you could just plug a USB drive into the phone, copy them over to it, and then copy them from that to the computer. The USB C to A adapter that came in the box with the Pixel works well for this, and the phone mounts the drive just fine. This is a nice open source file manager you can use to copy stuff over.
I actually normally transfer files this way on the rare occasion when I want or need to, because I generally don't want to start charging the phone from the computer by plugging it in when it's only going to be plugged in for a few minutes during the transfer.
I've also used this method if I'm meeting up with someone and want to hand off some large files. I'll put them on my phone and have them bring their flash drive, then I'll copy them from the phone when we meet up. No need to bring a bulky computer or hand off one of my drives and wait to get it back.

CyanogenMod is a so-called custom ROM, a modified Android operating system. CyanogenMod comes with built-in root, or in other words, superuser rights.
Because you haven't uninstalled the game, you can still recover your save data.
Download any file manager app that can show the files from your device's root directory, Amaze for example. Then you have to go to the settings and enable "Root explorer" option. If you get a prompt, grant Amaze superuser rights.
Go to the root directory from the sidebar, then go to /data/data/com.nintendo.zaba/shared_prefs and delete the deviceAccount:.xml.
Now you should be able to launch the game without the error, you just have to select the language again. Don't link your Nintendo Account at this point, first make sure that your save is really still there. Then you can go to the game's settings and link your account there.

Unfortunately Android never came with a file explorer. There's a file manager-like interface that comes up when you have to select file, etc. from another app. However, there's no way to access the file manager directly.

Well, there is the material alpha of solid explorer. I also use Amaze file explorer which is somewhat a mix between cabinet and material manager.
I also like feature rich apps, but not if they compromise usability for features. You can have many features without looking and behaving like titanium backup, for example.

I don't claim there is a right or a wrong way, I just say that material design can be feature rich as well. Feature rich apps don't have to look like they were design for Gingerbread. If I can't find an alternative, I use the app that works. Fortunately I don't have to use Titanium Backup on a daily basis. But for apps I use often, I try to find an app that I find pleasing both from features and look and feel. Most material apps satisfy my needs, therefore this is my way and it works for me.
I don't blame others for not caring about material design, I also don't care what phones or OS's other people choose, so don't get me wrong, I don't criticize you.
Edit: So far I haven't come across an app that has noticeably less features since the change to material design, but since many material design apps are 'newcomers' they might not have as many features from the start as apps that have been around for 5+ years. But this is not a result of material design.

This app measures the ampere usage of your phone. Great for finding out how good your charger is working, or how much your phone is draining. It's not super accurate but it gives a good estimate.
This lightweight apps helps you analyze your file storage, so you can see what apps or files take up most of your space. Great if your phone has low storage.

If you've already rooted it, then you just need to upload /data/data/com.elex.nikkigp/files/usrdat/clothes_date to Nikki's Info. Default file manager is pretty limited, so you need to get something better to access this file - I've used Solid Explorer, because I already had the premium version, but I think Amaze and Material Files should also be capable of navigating to this directory.

It's free to use. But It also has paid plans. Free vs. Paid. Free version should be good for your usage.
You can also use LAN/SMB feature of windows to watch content from your PC to smartphone. It requires some technical knowledge. It's not that hard to set up though. You can follow this guide. You can use Amaze File Manager on your smartphone instead of solid file explorer. (Amaze file manager is free and open source)

Solid Explorer is ad-free but not free.
I don't know if /u/markus_b was referring to resetting preferences (parllel: Open With... in Windows) or factory reset.
A factory reset wouldn't repair the issue as you would have modified the /system partition.
Resetting the preferences would just reset which apps intents are bound to (and if apps are disabled).
"Media Storage" I suspect is the app that you removed from the system.
Play - Amaze File Manager has the RINGTONE_PICKER intent and also can receive implicit intents. This may allow you to replace the functionality.
I don't know what you mean with "settings file picker crashes". If that refers to the Ringtones picker (i.e. AndroidCentral - image), then that is likely expected.
This provider might give other functionality outside of the ringtone picker.
Based on SP Flash Tool and Wikipedia - Devices with MediaTek SoC, the ZTE Blade V wouldn't work as GSM Arena - it has a Qualcomm SoC

Yeah it's kind of annoying that Android does this, however it shouldn't be a problem. The created folders are empty by default and won't do anything to your Switch, and after you install homebrew you can then install a file manager on your Switch and delete those folders (although it's not necessary).
Just make sure the micro SD card is formatted to FAT32 (if it's not or you're not sure, you can format it using your Switch, see Nintendo's instructions here). Then insert it into your phone, download the required homebrew files (you can use the latest JustInsertTheStuff AIO) to your phone and move them to the micro SD card using an ad-free file manager (Amaze File Manager, Cx File Explorer or Files by Google are all free and ad-free. Amaze is also open-source).
Then you can follow a homebrew guide normally. I recommend the rentry guide and make sure to follow all the steps and set-up emuNAND correctly on your micro SD card, to help avoid getting banned.

Absolutely. It goes a long way towards ensuring that you're going to be able to keep using it (such as the story here or the story with BitKeeper & Git), and the apps are often more functional as well (as they're created by people trying to solve their own problems, rather than people trying to solve other peoples' problems).

You can verify this with a file explorer, such as Amaze. Amaze also has a FTP server (which means you can use a program like Filezilla to mass copy/explore your device

Slide for Reddit in beta, still has a few crashes but much better than before.
Firefox with the following add-ons uBlock Origin, HTTPS-Everywhere, and Decentraleyes.
On the desktop version Privacy Badger is also a must, but it doesn't work on mobile. None of the add-ons mentioned require any effort, you just install and forget about them.
Signal by Open Whisper Systems for messaging. It's like iMessage for Android. Handles regular sms but sends encrypted messages to friends who also use it. Recommended by Edward Snowden and Bruce Schneier. It's also available on iOS and there's a Chrome/Chromium addon that's in beta.
Keepass2Android is a good password manager.
If you're a GNU/Linux user and comfortable with the command line, I'd recommend pass with Password Store (you need to use this with OpenKeyChain).
Use strong passwords and don't reuse them. Use Diceware to make the password for your password manager a good one.
Make sure to turn on 2-step verification on Google and use Google Authenticator.

Or use a better looking, free, and open-source file explorer. Too many people here are on the Solid Explorer bandwagon. It's an okay explorer. But you can trust an open source tool like Amaze not to be bundled with crapware at any point in the future.
