Big fan of portrait games too! Wish devs would make more of these... Here are some of mine:

Casual:

True Skate, The Treasures of Montezuma 3, Can Knockdown 3, ZOOKEEPER, Dots, SimpleRockets, Compulsive, Triple Town, 2048 Pixels, 2048 Gorgeous Version, City 2048, CRUSH

Story based:

DRAGON QUEST, DRAGON QUEST VIII, other DQ titles, all Kairosoft games (style gets repetitive after a while), 10000000, Blockheads

Other options: DraStic DS Emulator (many portrait layout options and one of your best options IMHO)

Besides this, there's the usual Candy Crush, Temple Run and all the other mindless clones.

It's a game called True Skate

I just got a new phone and was thinking about picking up either True Skate or Skater. Does anyone have an opinion on which one is better? I like that you can see the feet in Skater, but True Skate looks like it has a much larger trick set. I also like that there are no in app purchases in Skater - you get everything when you buy it, but that's not really a decision breaker for me. Any opinions would be appreciated!
