I tested all the available ones I could find and this one suited my needs so well, I popped my paid Android cherry and bought the full version. Got it on my phone for the handlebar mount and tablet for the tankbag backup.

[edit] Thought I'd linked the full version but the ads are fairly unobtrusive anyway.

I use it to record, and occasionally as a speedo, but I do think it can show both while riding, at least from the screenshots.

It is definitely the only one I found (before giving up) that records both properly, and exports to GPX.

I have used the Pro version for a number of years, so I can't recall what might be missing feature-wise on the ad-supported version.

I will be honest and state I am not sure how to fix or approach your problem, but a work around for the speedometer at least is if you have a smart phone, and mount to be able to conveniently see the screen, get one of the GPS Speedometer apps, get a paid one without ads (if you have an android phone I recommend Ulysse Speedometer Pro it costs $1.99) as I have tried some of the free ones only to have a full screen ad pop up while driving, they are also useful if you find yourself driving early morning or evening into the sun at either sunrise or sunset and can't see your dash gauges.
