I think Motorola is the best, but if you want to try something else, try Footaj camera. Old Motorola camera app was not DPI adaptive, so when I changed DPI on my phone it was not working properly, I used Footaj instead and it's a nice, clean camera app.
Doesn't LineageOS come with the Snapdragon camera(org.cyanogenmod.snap)? Or is your ROM still using the old Cyanogenmod camera? The Snapdragon camera is pretty good for a 3rd party camera app since most 3rd party cam apps can't really perform close to the stock(MIUI cam in your case) one.
Another suggestion is Footej Camera
See, and that was the problem I had. I threw Footej Camera on my phone and it's a billion times better and I've got zero complaints now.

Footej has this feature.
If you want pictures in a specific folder to be ignored just create an empty file and rename it to .nomedia
applications then ignore whether there are any pictures/videos in there.
I use this app. It's fast, it's clean, and I have never encountered any problems with it.
I didn't want to have an outdated Google Camera app. But if you look at the replies to my other comment they say it's possible to rum Google Camera on other devices too by downloading an APK from XDA
I've used footej camera which does burst and has gps metadata. I can't say for sure about the metadata changing for each pic though.
Miles better. This might be a tad of a personal choice but I prefer Lineage over Pixel Experience any day. LOS is the perfect AOSP experience for the S8 as of now. It's unofficial yes, but for the end user this only means it won't be receiving over-the-air updates, so you'll need to flash them. Other than that, I've experienced no fatal bugs whatsoever. It's been a great experience.
The camera app I and mostly everyone running an AOSP rom use is Footej Camera. It takes great photos and videos, really close to what stock camera app offers.
The Pixel 2 has a dedicated chip for HDR in third party apps, however, try out this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.footej.camera It has manual controls for video (you can change focus, etc while recording, which was huge for me). It has a great UI as well. It does have HDR mode, which I think can be turned on while taking pictures, but it's not the one from the stock app.
Ooh nice shots! Yeah i prefer the s8's colours as well. In that extreme low light shoot, the 5x messed up a bit on the pink/black monkey's eyes, they became green. Also field of view is a bit wider.
About manual controls, i do that with Footej Camera so no problem there. Also just a quick question, have you gotten used to fingerprint scanner's placement?
I tried using the modified Camera X app for its burst mode, and it was....okay, at best. it's nothing like the iOS burst camera experience. you're welcome to try, though.
a few weeks ago i discovered Footej Camera Linkme! from somebody from this subreddit actually. it's great! it has actually replaced the stock photo taking app because its burst is something i really like about it (as well as the fact that when you launch it, you can set it to automatically max out your camera's brightness--can be super helpful)

I use Footej Camera which has manual controls, lets you save in RAW too if your device supports it.
I use footej camera on mine. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.footej.camera&hl=en
You can also find a cracked version on sites like apk4free.net.
You can try this Camera App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.footej.camera Its really good!
Well my Honor 8 has a crappy stock app, so I use this app called footej. Here's a link to it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.footej.camera
I like Footej I set the exposure to -0.2 and it keeps the setting even after reboot... And there is a button for capture
Footej Camera does this (by default)
Try this, gives you better control of shutter speed and ISO. you should be able to get a better photo https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.footej.camera
Footej Camera and Open Camera.
Which camera app are you using? The Google camera app isn't supported for devices other than Pixel and Nexus. I use this app
Footej Camera lets you pick the storage location
I found this app to solve video recording in CM14.1 Roms, maybe can help you:
Footej Camera https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.footej.camera
Footej Camera is simple and takes nice photos.
