Why? The recent Android releases have a bug that turns off recommended sort. Being able to go back two (or more) releases allows the app to work again while they work on a fix.
E aqui volta a tua contradição...

Nothing but 1 and 2 star reviews now. I feel sorry for the people who actually pay only to realise that everyone has left because of this.
Welcome to the darkside.

Not sure if that is an A/B test or if they published it to all users...
You can see what permissions an app has (for Android Apps) by looking at it's Google Play Store listing. At the very bottom, under "Permissions", hit View details to see that Tinder lists the following permissions:
> This app has access to: > > Photos/Media/Files > > * read the contents of your USB storage > * modify or delete the contents of your USB storage > > Wi-Fi connection information > > * view Wi-Fi connections > > Device & app history > > * retrieve running apps > > Storage > > * read the contents of your USB storage > * modify or delete the contents of your USB storage > > Location > > * approximate location (network-based) > * precise location (GPS and network-based) > > Camera > > * take pictures and videos > > Other > > * receive data from Internet > * connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi > * control vibration > * view network connections > * full network access > * read Google service configuration > * run at startup > * pair with Bluetooth devices > * prevent device from sleeping
My guess is a combination of these permissions is used to ID users. Probably stores the Google account that downloaded the app ("read Google service configuration"), the Wifi connection(s) used to access Tinder ("view Wi-Fi connections" / "view network connections" / "full network access"), the GPS location(s) where the app is used (approximate and precise, probably on some set time period - that's stand Android app development practice), and possibly any of the others listed there plus anything standard Android apps can access.
BTW the unique ID is probably just a number in a database somewhere. If a combination of meta data mentioned above matches, Tinder probably assumes it's you downloading the app again. Probably uses this to attempt to stop hacks/bots, as well as people going around bans. I doubt anyone except the developers at Tinder really know what this combination is, but you can guess and assume it's using anything available. Database storage is cheap, and data is gold to big tech companies who want to sell ads targeted to a particular demographic/user base. Whether they act on that data to prevent people from signing up is questionable, they can always just shadow ban people and let them continue to view/click on ads while not matching with any "real" people.
TL&DR: check the permissions page if you want to see what data Tinder potentially has access to.

Tinder, OkC, Dattch, Brenda, and Wing Ma'am
Those are the ones I've seen people mention/use.
I know I'm a little late, but figure I would add this for future reference if anyone comes across this like me. I just noticed I have a ton of traffic from Tinder that I may not want. I'm trying to figure out where the ads are placed so I can figure out if these are accidental clicks because CTR is up. I'm not targeting Tinder specifically, but it comes up as a placement for me where my ads showed and is listed as:
Mobile App: Tinder - Dating New People (iTunes App Store), by Tinder Inc.
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id547702041

Mobile App: Tinder: Dating app. Meet. Chat (Google Play), by Tinder
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinder

Not sure if the URLs will help at all. I know the apps have ID numbers and stuff, but I think those are specific to Google, but if you can find out the ID for that placement, you may be able to add it that way too.
Not sure if adding tinder.com may help too? Also, as u/J_masta88 mentioned, it's possible the country you're advertising in may have an impact, if not the US.

Im literally looking at it in the app store right now

I have been having this problem for the last 10 days. I contacted Tinder support but their solutions didn't work. I even tried the old versions and the web version of the application. I think this problem is probably from a malfunction that Tinder didn't announce. Corona (everyone at home and on the internet) and the free passport feature probably broke their systems.
I spent my free time understanding what happened and researched on the internet.

I've seen dozens of people with similar problems in app stores and app failure reporting sites. Many even had different problems.
Problems such as no verification code, no messages, missing photos and matches, no account deletion, repeated matches.
Old account holders did not notice the error in the discovery because most of the them either did not have any problems or they didn't notice, but the new accounts are having the discovery problem and other problems. Unfortunately, Tinder is either not aware of these problems or cannot solve it due to corona.
