On Android the offline survival manual is pretty top notch. It has a lot of good info. Plus it's free and based on an army manual (FM 3-05.70)

I'll repost this higher up for anyone interested, but there is an app called "Survival Guide" that works entirely offline. It has medical info, knots, habitat building, hunting and cooking, etc included, plus other information related to CBERN (Chemical Biological Explosive Radioactive Nuclear) events and the aftermath.

This is a good app you can install on your Android phone. If you have any iPhone there's gotta be something similar. I wouldn't rely 100% on an app out in the woods though. I like to just read through sections when I'm sitting around at work waiting for someone else to finish a task so I can get started

I installed it a few weeks ago, but I highly doubt I'll ever use it. Unless it's to look up "how to charge your phone to read this fucking thing using only twigs and berries." But it's free and I have the space, so why not have it?

OtterBox Defender on my S10+. Also, when I'm hiking/camping I keep my phone in a small fanny pack. When I do need to take it out I don't walk with it...as much as that's possible. Every once in a while I may have to follow a prerecorded GPS track through an area that requires some bushwhacking.

I doubt it's much use other then for basic survival, or for someone that is new to prepping, but you can download Survival Manuals from playstore on android phones. I'm sure it's same on iPhones. Pretty basic stuff, but if your a novice or a pro, it works as a handy reminder and checklist for when SHTF and covers a number of scenarios. Guess it'd be handy if you can't take a computer. Aslong as you can keep your phone charged etc. Works offline.

A bit of a tangent and maybe not directly answering your question, OP, but those who are not in immediate danger I suggest downloading the Offline Survival Manual app. It's loaded with beneficial information, has a day/night reading mode, editable (good if you want to fix errors or add personal data), and - true to its name - works offline.
I read it from time to time just to stack myself with knowledge so I can mentally prepare myself in case of emergencies. I hope you all are safe. Have a great weekend.

This is a survival manual that can be used offline and has topics from Psychology to the different plants both editable and poisonous. Even if you're not in a survival situation it's still such a good thing to read and at least have on your phone.
only if you're in a pretty bad way. if you really need water, you need to get to a potable water source. if you're in that bad a way, its time to think slightly longer term. you need shelter, fire, water, and food. also, a signal fire as well. if you routinely go out into the woods, carrying basic supplies is never a bad idea. water, snacks (not junk food per se, but something that has a lot of non-sugary energy (trail mix is awesome IMO), something that's ropelike (fishing line is good especially causes.... you know... you can fish with it too lol. don't use Monofilimant, you can cut urself up with it), a knife, and a firestarter kit (flint and steel, lighter, strike-anywhere matches, whatever floats your boat). could keep it all in a fanny pack.
I have a bracelet made of paracord I wear everywhere. mostly cause I love it, but also because if you're up the creek, you can disassemble it and paracord (the real stuff) is rated generally for 550 lbs. you could hang a dear with that, or use it to make a shelter. use it with a stick to turn it into a firestick. etc.
With wilderness survival, Follow the rough rule of threes.
Three minutes without air
Three hours in harsh conditions without shelter
Three days without water
three weeks without food
its a rough rule because obviously, it varies person to person, but not by much.
edit: there is a pretty cool android app that is a self-contained survival Guide (it downloads to your phone so it works even with no internet) called "Offline Survival Manual" not a bad thing to keep on ur phone. obviously ur battery isn't gonna last forever, but hey, at the worst, it gives u something to read while ur on the crapper in the basement where there isn't any wifi at work ;)

There is not as much as I thought, only one page, but "headache, irritability, sweating, cold" are some of the symptoms of heat exhaustion. Its under the desert section, there is about 4 paragraphs.

As a good rule of thumb: dont disturb radiated soil. If you must, work from inside the trench and dont throw it in a manner to spread dust.

I recommend reading the kit part,and pick out equipment from there.
Weapons schould be quite light. I recommend you look at the ranger forces of the us. Drones and data analytics are probably quite important.
Also, Military clothes are the way they are because they are practical, and that probably won't change.
Offline Survival Manual (Android, but I'm sure there are similar apps for iPhone) and MAPS.ME could both be very handy as long as you are able to otherwise minimize phone usage and keep it charged. MAPS.ME lets you download maps for offline use so even if your network goes down you can still navigate. GPS itself does not require any network connection.

This event is pretty likely a shft scenario, but society won't collapse as we know it.
Banks will still expect mortgage payments and your landlord will expect rent. So you'll still need to work to make a living.
Likely society will simply change our culture habits of hugs and kisses to air hifives and telling people to work from home if at all possible (retail will likely be switched to automated processes) so crap you'd buy in store more requires you to buy online and then have a robot drop your stuff off for pick up. (years later though)
Do prepare, but don't break laws to fill in gaps of your equipment. You can survive with a good baton knife and the ability to make fire.
These two things will allow you to sanitize water, build a shelter, create tools, and lastly hunt / build traps for food.
If you can't stomach dressing up meat then start a garden (as vast majority of people will be doing).
Remember you don't need the most fancy shit to survive. Just your intelligence and health.

There also was an app to send your location to family periodically with a minimal battery drain. It could even send it via SMS if data connection is not available. But I can't find the link.

Super portable and you'll have access to it as long as you have battery. Which brings us to the problem, if the internet is down the reality is that the power almost certainly is too and thus rendering any download to anything without a battery useless and anything with a battery only as useful as you have battery life for.
Having this information in a useful for offline use doesn't come from download, it comes from physical books.

I'd be careful with the 3.5 star threshold because you can easily buy reviews online.
A few things I'd consider:
installing LineageOS instead of stock android if feasible. Be prepared, some features may not supported yet but usualy it extends runtime and hasnt much - if any - bloatware on it.
if you're not located in the US, other countries may issue country-specific warning apps like NINA (germany) or Team Österreich, Katwarn (austria)
encrypt your phone
there are multiple privacy apps like Tor Browser, K9 Mail, OpenKeyChain, ...
if you've got a big enough sd-card, add personal documents like scans of your passport, driving license, insurance policies, birth certificate, etc in an encypted file. You can use something like VeraCrypt to encypt your file and (IMPORTANT) keep the software aswell on the sd (e.g. VeraCrypt has portable versions for Windows, Linux and MacOS)

Well I will seriously injure myself on marshy farmland, as in 1817 the location of my house was a piece of marshy farmland. So okay...
So it's 1817 in Scotland and it's November. Okay, fuck. Well, I'm a historian and I have a healthy knowledge of my local surroundings at that time because I used to regularly browse the online map library and look at maps of my local area. It's November so it's going to be cold as fuck so I need to seek shelter. The nearest shelter is a farm West of my Location. So I go there to warm up...
BUT WAIT!
I'm in 21st century dress: a Nirvana T-shirt and a pair of PJ bottoms. So I'll arise suspicion and may get arrested for that. Also language has changed so I'll have issues speaking in Modern Scots to someone who speaks Lowland Scots of the 19th century variety. What else...
Oh wait, I'm a transsexual woman in a time when being that will get me hung. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuuuuuck.
OK so, I pass (thank fuck) so I have that going for me, so let's keep the genitals hidden and I should be fine, but if I'm stuck here for too long I my facial hair will grow (I've not had electrolysis) so that will give me away unless I can acquire a razor...despite having no money in the local current currency, FUCK.
OK, so I get a current map of the current area and find a woodland to hide in, not too hard to do because the National Library of Scotland has an online map library. Then, download this app. to tell me how to survive in the woods, and maybe collect resources to sell to buy clothing and supplies. There's plenty of Broom in the area so I could make and sell Brooms to buy clothes, food and stuff to, well, make sure I don't get killed as a transsexual in 1817's Scotland where I could get hanged.
Now I have access to the internet, modern internet access. Well okay are we talking a direct line to 200 years in the future? Great! I would be missing without a trace, so, I message someone in the future telling them what happened, and surely I can't be the only person for this to happen to and that would be news, you know? People noticing people vanishing from trains and buses and homes suddenly can't be something that won't make the news. Basically message them and see what happened and how or if I can make it back.
But chances are, I'm going to be hung. Okay, so if I have a smartphone I could then broadcast images into the future for people to see and maybe stream images into the past. Maybe I can convince them I am a time traveller and they could help me. I'm a historian so, I guess I could progress my field by documenting the world around me. There's a Castle near my location, or there was, it was in ruins in 1817, which was demolished in my time, so I could get photos of that. Decent photos in colour that are ultra detailed. I could get photos of lost houses and gardens, HD footage of streets and places that are long gone. Hell, I'm going to be here a while, I could document the rise of the Railways, fuck yeah.
But yeah, chances are I'm going to die. I'm not Chevalier d'Éon.

It's made for low disk size and for casual reading or OMG moments.

I keep it downloaded and just read a bit once in a while. It's great to know that I have a resource to use if stranded and I got a few hours left on my phone. Also, why I periodically read to be more use to the logic in it rather memorization.
