The game is Shattered Pixel Dungeon, a rogue-like rpg, it's clone of Pixel Dungeon with some new features.
Second this, with shattered pixel dungeon being the most popular mod of the original source code. More items, traps and lots of quality of life improvements when compared to the original.
Pixel Dungeon ist ein genialer kleiner Roguelike und es gibt davon zig Versionen, weil das Original ein Open-Source-Projekt ist. Die beste und vollständigste ist mMn diese.
It takes some time, but Shattered Pixel Dungeon can entertain you for hundreds of hours once you had figure it out.

No juego mucho pero lo único que siempre tengo instalado en caso de es este fork de Pixel Dungeon.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon. One of the few games that I return to over and over, even after a couple of years of playing. Easy to learn, hard to master, a rich online presence if you want to cheat, and great (and still very active) development. If you're a fan of roguelikes and aren't familiar with Pixel Dungeon, you're in for a treat.
Note: there are quite a few Pixel Dungeon variations, but Shattered Pixel Dungeon is the only one that has kept my interest past a few games.
EDIT: Oh, and it's free.

Then play shattered! It's a modern version with the aim of being as balanced as possible. No item degradation, regular updates. The last update overhauled the alchemy system with dozens of new potions and spells!
Polytopia & Shattered Pixel Dungeon have taken up 90% of my playtime on Android.
Shattered PD is like original PD but more fair and with more options, plus dev is amazing and is really easy to contact.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
Polytopia is a simplistic take on 4x genre, that being said still offers tons of room for strategy. Recently added online MP (which is awesome)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.midjiwan.polytopia
Huh, I'm quite surprised to see nobody mention Pixel Dungeon, specifically Shattered Pixel Dungeon). It's available for free for Android and PC (requires Java)
It's my first introduction to roguelike and what make me hooked to this genre. The tileset is nice, the mechanic is simple and it's actively developed.
Even though it's quite simple, there are quite many combination of item and enchantment so it should keep you busy for quite long. The gameplay is not easy, however it's not impossible either so it's quite satisfying to win.
I believe this is the best game to start, and I still played it from time to time.
Have you tried Shattered Pixel Dungeon?
I just learned about it in another post last week. It's free, and really good.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
Major shout out to OP for calling Watabou "the creator of pixel dungeon" because god knows i never have enough chances to champion this fantastic game.
It's a traditional roguelike made for Android, with a version available on PC. Its open source, which means anybody can make a mod of it if they want to. This has led to the creation of a number of mods that majorly improve on the original. I recommend Shattered PD which is made by 00-Evan, and is one of the highest quality indie games I've played.
While I realize it's not what you're asking, I have to ask, why not just run the Android version? It's available for free on F-Droid or also on Google Play. It works perfectly on my Chromebook, and can be played with touchscreen or mouse.
Your issue running it in Crostini is that you likely don't have GPU Acceleration available and/or turned on. You can find some info on how to enable it, if your system supports it, in other posts on this subreddit.
You can find it here;
http://www.hiapphere.org/app-com.watabou.pixeldungeon
But instead I highly recommend trying Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It is a very popular mod with many great additions and changes plus it is also based on 1.7.5 source but with degradation removed.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It's been on my phone since it first started showing up on /r/PixelDungeon and it stays installed on each phone I buy. I'll sometimes go months without playing, but Evan keeps updating it so I always get to come back to new mechanics. Recently started playing again after a break and I died right after killing the last boss but before the end of the game. It can be brutal sometimes but I love it.
there are plenty of pixel dungeon variants that are worth your time but shattered pixel dungeon is my recommendation
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
Fits all your criteria. It's also F2P, regularly updated, popular, no IAP affect game play, and the best roguelike on Android IMO.
Also fits your criteria, P2P (Worth the price), still adding content, no IAP. There is a "Daily" battle you can do, but it's merely for the leaderboard and isn't required at all.
If you enjoy turn based roguelike, I'll suggest Shattered Pixel Dungeon and Meteorfall.
I purchased SFD a while ago. I don't regret my purchase, but I can't recommend SFD unless you enjoy more hardcore rogue-likes. The demo version doesn't really prepare you for the difficulty of the premium version. Even on the easier mode, I found this game to be beyond me. I gave up against the default (hardest) difficulty when one particular boss insisted that it should be able to wreck everything with one chain lighting spell (usually my entire party would either die or be below 20% health after the first attack), regardless of my party configuration. I suspect the best strategy was to kill the boss on turn one, but I never managed to do so. Happily, this attack had a cool-down. Unhappily, I could either spend that time attacking the boss unsuccessfully (it would heal itself, too) or healing myself (it would kill me with another chain lightning spell).
Of course, my response to that painful experience was to buy the chain lightning spell myself, because clearly a spell that is effective at wrecking my party can also be used to wreck my enemies. But it turned out that even in my own hands, all it knew how to do was wreck my party; it doesn't differentiate between friend and foe.
I'm sure some of you are hearing that story with glee and buying SFD. For the rest of you, I recommend Shattered Pixel Dungeon (or one of the many, many other Pixel Dungeon forks) as a far gentler Roguelike. You'll still die a lot, but you'll probably find yourself getting further on each play. I'll note that the game has no ads. It does have IAPs, but they're basically just donations. Forks of GPL games generally don't hide content/cheats behind paywalls, since the immediate response of the community to such shenanigans is to fork the content out from behind the paywall.
Pretty much what user Jynch has said...
But, if I may express my opinion..
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is one of the greatest video games ever made.
Not MMO but it has completely shocked me out of all mobile games I have ever played.
But it is a Roguelike Dungeon-Crawler. Which, as far as role-play is concerned, being committed to the characters survival is counter intuitive. If you care too much whether you live, the game is much to frustrating, but if you are capable of just throwing the characters one after another, there is such an incredible emergent risk/reward triumph/disaster.
Took me 80 games before I ever "won".
... That is the only mobile game I can think of that without a doubt, stands out. But completely my opinion.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a great free roguelike RPG (with no ads/no need for internet access either)! I've actually had the app for about 4 years, and this is an adaptation of the original game Pixel Dungeon, but this developer keeps updating so I haven't gotten tired of it. You can play different classes such as Warrior, Mage, Huntress, and Rogue with subclasses like Warlock or Beserker and you basically just explore a randomly created 25-level dungeon and fight monsters with bosses in between. You can find items like enchanted weapons, armor, artifacts, rings, wands, potions, and scrolls to use. I will say that you should be prepared to die often, but that's just the nature of roguelike games. I promise it's not as lame I make it sound!
I'd like to point you to /r/saynotomicro. There's little activity in that sub nowadays, but there are already some decent posts there, and it is exactly what you're asking about.
That said, the first game I'd recommend is Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It's a pixel-based roguelite where you explore something like 20 floors of a dungeon to find a valuable thing. The story isn't important. It's point and click (or I guess touch to move), and you can spend an hour or a couple minutes at a time on it. It is based off of the game Pixel Dungeon, and the wiki covers some of the features. Out of all the Pixel Dungeon mods (and the original game), I feel that Shattered is the best.
Yeah, I think Pixel Dungeon and its variants are pretty comparable to POWDER. I recommend Shattered Pixel Dungeon, which retains the theme of the original but expands it with extra content (though some say it's too easy). Shattered is available for both Android and PC/Mac/Linux (java).
I've been enjoying Shattered Pixel Dungeon for a while now, a rogue-like pixel game.
Shout out to /u/00-Evan!

I think the degradation kind of ruined the original. It's more annoying than it is challenging imo.

There's a cross of dungeon crawler and roguelite that's pretty good.
It's called Shattered Pixel Dungeon, free on the google store (but it doesn't have microtransactions or ads at all) and i think it's on steam too...

Shattered Dungeon is also much easier to get into.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon, I've enjoyed hours and hours of gameplay from this, and the dev is very active in the community over at /r/pixelDungeon.
This is the best and most accessible version. It is the only game I play on my phone because I can look up at any time.

Worth it tbh. New mobs, reworks to wands, updates to alchemy and overall more customizable for playing and versatility with characters. Which Pixel Dungeon variant do you have on your phone? I've been playing Shattered Pixel Dungeon.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon (or any other Pixel Dungeon) is good for that. It's a Rogue-like, turn-based, so you can stop playing it at any time to focus on the speech.
I've been playing on and off since 2015. The dev is always adding new stuff and rebalancing. It's the perfect roguelike for mobile IMO. Lots of depth and strategy.
If you're looking for a great mobile roguelite, try Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It's had a ton of love poured into it and is fun for casual and completionist play.
The in-app purchase is just a donation option to the developer, doesn't effect the game other than the ability to rename items for amusement.
Sprouted is my favorite too, but Shattered is updated very often and has some fantastic improvements.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon&hl=en_US
Overgrown and Lovecraft were also fun with the new plants and enemies.
Kindness is free but very very hard to find. I have gifted plenty of PC games and gotten plenty of free ones in subs like r/RandomActsOfGaming/ and /r/steam_giveaway/.
The same can be said about mobile games like Shattered Pixel Dungeon, Open TTD, etc. (no ads or IAPs)

Shattered Pixel Dungeon - Completely free and quite hard but this is such a good rogue-like.
Mythgard - The best non MTG digital CCG on mobile in terms of strategy, card-art etc. Quite F2P friendly for a CCG.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon - Been playing it since 2015 and I never take it off my phone. I take long breaks here and there but I always come back.
Dragalia Lost - I've quit 3 separate times. I'm sick of gachas and other predatory ilk in the PlayStore, but nothing beats the raging hard on you get when you pull multiple 5 stars in a 10 pull.
Not for everyone, but Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It's a roguelike dungeon crawler, you pick up potions and weapons, kill monsters, try and get deeper into the dungeon. It's completely free and relies on donations. It won't even ask you for a donation until you've killed the boss on level 10, and if you've done that you've played for a decent amount of time. It's based on Pixel Dungeon, so there are in fact a bunch of other variants you can try, this one happens to be the one I like best.
Reading down I see that you're playing Yet Another Pixel Dungeon.
Pixel Dungeon is open source and accordingly there are a bunch of other versions of it. Popular versions include Vanilla (original), Shattered (probably the most balanced), Sprouted (the grindiest), Moonshine, Yet Another Pixel Dungeon (honestly my least favorite), Remixed, Unleashed, and a bunch of others.
Commonalities are that they all have the same basic mechanics; some versions have bigger changes than others. I recommend 100% trying out Shattered Pixel Dungeon.

Op, this is the game you're looking for. It's vicious, challenging, addictive, and tons of fun.
IMHO, one of the greatest games for a mobile device of all times. I'll still play it from time to time. It's the game I've kept for the longest time on my phone.
Best of all, completely free and open source.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It's a light roguelike game for phones and tablets, and can be played on desktop PCs too. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon&hl=en_GB
One of my favorite tiny games to blow a few minutes to an hour is Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It's a nice little rogue-like.
Better still, a tablet. Also you're not limited to computerised board games, there are plenty of great tablet/phone games out there e.g. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon&hl=en_GB
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is amazing and completely free, with no in-game purchases. It has great replayability and is completely open source.
You can get Shattered Pixel Dungeons free on Android.
I would also highly recommend Teleglitch. Cracking game - one of my favourites.
Both are easy to play, hard to master though not over complicated (e.g. ToME4 is ridiculous), and well done within their scope with plenty of replayability.
Pixel Dungeon. It is a role-playing rogue like (even with instadeath!) so its a huge challenge. Fight monsters, collect useful items and advance through 26 levels to obtain the Amulet of Yendor! I've been on it for 6 months and still haven't finished it. Things i love about it...
It's fucking addictive. Once you start on a good run you'll be glued till you die (yes, you will DIE).
It's free, as in completely free, none of that freemium shit. So no In-App-purchases. Hate that pay2win shit.
It's so light on the battery. I play it on the commute to college and it drains less than my music player app.
Gameplay is top notch, as in there's a million ways to approach the game. Unlike something like Temple Run with its 1 Dimensional gameplay.
The learning curve is somewhat intimidating but /r/pixeldungeon is active and the developer is a baus. Listens to issues and updates app regularly.
So yeah, download the game, cos I'm addicted and can't stop.
IMHO It has the highest depth a game can offer!
Highly recommend Shattered Pixel Dungeon
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a great mod of the game. Improves the UI, new enemies, weapons, etc.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon - I know, most have heard or have played it by now. But when's the last time you've gone back and played it? Personally, it's been over a year for me, so when I booted it up the other day I was surprised to see how much had changed! It felt like such an improvement over the last time I played, tons more choices, less chance of losing to bad RNG, so many QoL changes and balance adjustments. It honestly feels like SPD2 to me.
Brawl Stars - Another popular one. Haven't touched it in awhile, but I played a bit recently and unlocked a new Hero so it kinda brought new life into the game for me. It's not something I can play more than a few matches of at a time though.
Leap Day - A cool Nitrome game I found awhile back, re-downloaded it during the holidays and have been playing it almost daily. Trying to 100% the levels takes about 15-20 minutes so it's not much time invested. It's 1 new level each day, the level selection screen in literally a calendar. I usually only play 1 a day, but sometimes I'll go back and try to beat the older levels. Getting 100% on all levels would be cool, but it'd take a long long time.
I presume you're on Android? If so, definitely get Shattered Pixel Dungeon (which keeps with the theme of the original Pixel Dungeon but expands upon it with a lot of awesome new content), and if you're ok with side-loading, you can get the APK for POWDER (one of my favorites) here. Ananias and Pathos are also quite good.
If you're on iOS, I don't know of many, but POWDER is also available from the app store.
You said not Pixel Dungeon, but I'd definitely recommend Shattered Pixel Dungeon since it keeps with the theme of the original and expands upon it with a lot of awesome new content.
If you're ok with side-loading from an APK, POWDER (one of my favorites) is available here.
Ananias is also quite good, but may be a bit on the light side.
Pathos is good as well, and was basically made as a mobile 'clone' of NetHack (but with an interface built from the ground up for mobile). Obviously this is a bit deep, but it retains much of the annoying bits of NetHack as well... :P
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is always a good rec. One of the best mobile roguelikes imo. No flashy graphics or effects, just beautiful pixel art. Battery drain is negligible compared to most games. Completely offline. Turn-based so you can stop/start whenever. There's tons of depth to the game as well.
Only other low battery options I have on my phone that I can recommend right now are Sudoku - The Clean One and Solitaire: Decked Out. While both good in their own right, I doubt either would keep you entertained 8 hours. But you could sprinkle in a couple rounds between other games.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is easily my favorite mobile game ever.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon immediately jumped to mind. I even want to scoff at myself as I say this.... but in some ways Shattered Pixel Dungeon feels like a masterpiece of gaming. One of the greatest games made. Incredibly balanced. Took me 100 deaths before I beat the damn game, and then there's dudes beating the game without a single upgrade and in one hit they'd die. Crazy.
Lovecraft Pixel Dungeon is really quirky and fun, but can be totally broken if you know what to do, plan and have a little luck.
The others are ok. Original Pixel Dungeon, Yet Another Pixel Dungeon, Remixed Pixel Dungeon,
Have a look:

remixed pixel dungeon https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nyrds.pixeldungeon.ml
YAPD https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.consideredhamster.yetanotherpixeldungeon
Shattered is best imo, especially if you like vanilla.
YAPD is different, its pretty popular though.
Sprouted is an extended playthrough of PD, for those that like spending a week or 2 finishing runs.
Remixed is interesting too, new enemies, more levels, etc.
I've been told many times shattered pixel dungeon is. It's a more fair and updated version of the original. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
I'm not sure if it's counts but what about Shattered pixel dungeon https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
Firstly, Reddit has a 'search' function for a reason. While I don't mind answering again, there are probably a few here that will get annoyed since this exact question is asked almost monthly, lol.
Secondly, I very much recommend POWDER, which isn't in the play store but you can get the APK straight from the dev's site (not in the downloads section for some reason; scroll down on the news page to find it) and side-load it in pretty much any Android device (doesn't need your device to be rooted or anything complicated like that). You will need to go into your settings and enable installing from "unknown sources" to get it to install (don't worry, it's perfectly safe) and then disable that setting again afterward if you're worried about security. I've got POWDER installed on all of my Android devices and I really do consider it the best mobile roguelike.
Other than POWDER, Shattered Pixel Dungeon is pretty good as well (it's a variant of the original Pixel Dungeon which tries to keep with the same themes and general feel but expanded with much more content).
Cardinal Quest 2 isn't quite as good as the above games imho, but is decent and also fairly popular (don't worry about playing the first; they're unconnected and Cardinal Quest 1 kind of sucks anyway compared to 2)...
EDIT: I didn't realize this was so long when I typed it, but I'm not cutting content. Sorry about that. TL/DR included at the bottom.
Though it has many features not included in NetHack, ADOM was actually inspired and built around the concepts of the *hack games and is very not-*band-like. It's probably my favorite game of the lot, but may be a bit hard to get used to if you haven't been playing these games for long. It also has very D&D-like character building/leveling, so it helps to have experience with Dungeons and Dragons and/or the classic CRPGs like Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment. I should point out, though, that even though the game is still being updated, its menuing systems have remained mostly unchanged for over a decade, and as such the UI is very clunky-feeling compared to more modern games (though they're currently working to improve it)...
ToME, on the other hand, is very *band-like. It was first created as PernAngband, an Angband varient themed around Anne McCaffrey's Pern books, but ran into legal troubles iirc. They renamed it Troubles of Middle Earth and gave it a Tolkien theme (yes, Angband itself has a Tolkien theme, but ToME was more focused and included a full overworld -- this variation is actually still recieving unofficial updates here). It was eventually rewritten completely (twice, actually, though the first attempt never got past beta stages), still playing similarly to Angband but using none of the Angband code, at which point the name was changed again to Tales of Maj'Eyal and the game was given its own lore separate from any books. So, the game has come a long way but can trace its lineage directly back to Angband itself. It has a few really unique features though: Its skill trees and ability timeouts are reminiscent of WoW, or Diablo (which itself was inspired by Angband, btw), and it has no food/hunger system unlike most other roguelikes. It's a game with a lot of variety, especially with character creation, but I personally have trouble getting into it (it bores me for some reason). If you do want to try it, I recommend getting the Ignore Race/Class Locks addon so you can try all the different races/classes without having to figure out the way to unlock them in-game. Maybe also get the Ignore Campaign/Difficulty Locks addon too, for good measure... ;)
Oh, I'd also like to point out a game called Brogue (you can find an unofficial version with graphical tiles here if you'd rather play it with graphics than ASCII). It's a very tactically-focused game with not much character building over time (it has permanent strength-increasing potions, but not character levels), so it's very much about what you have as opposed to what you've become. However, don't think the game is simple; it has very complex overlapping environmental elements such as gas clouds, and the different kinds of enemies interact with each other (sometimes even fighting each other instead of you, lol). It's a game that is enjoyed by most roguelike players, often suggested as a 'starter' game but still played by people who've been playing roguelikes for years (myself included -- I started over a decade ago, with NetHack being my first as well). The game is sort of like Chess in that it's easy to learn but hard to master. It also has these color-changing effects that really give the game atmosphere and it is often called one of the best-looking roguelikes out there (though be forewarned: some people find the flickering colors extremely distracting and/or ugly, and while they can be turned off, the Windows version has some strange wrong-color bugs when they're off, such as some sections of walls being bright red for some reason, or deep and shallow water both having the same color -- a problem since deep water is much more dangerous)...
DCSS plays like a *hack, but isn't based on the NetHack code at all and has a lot of its own unique features as well. It's another that is pretty good for character creation/leveling, but not quite as complex as ADOM or ToME in that regard. It does feature slightly more in-the-moment tactical complexity than those two, though, and it has large sprawling dungeon levels (better get used to using the auto-explore feature, or it'll get pretty boring exploring those big levels). Slashem and UnNetHack are basically just NetHack with more stuff added (though a few good UI and dungeon generation features have been added as well). I personally prefer vanilla NetHack over them, as to me they both feel like they've got a lot of crap they don't need and not a very good lore/theme since they've got so much stuff (UnNetHack even has an actual kitchen sink programmed in, iirc, so its not even an 'everything but the kitchen sink' kind of game)... :P
Oh, and for Android roguelikes, I feel there really is nothing better than POWDER, though it's not on the play store and must be side-loaded directly from its APK, which can be found here. If side-loading is a no-go for you, then Shattered Pixel Dungeon on the play store is a decent alternative. Both play very NetHack-like (though I think Powder actually feels more like a smaller DCSS) but they don't have nearly as many insta-kills and things you need to know before you can do well...
TL/DR: ADOM and ToME are very different but both long-term focused, Brogue is another one to check out, DCSS has a bit more tactics focus than ADOM/ToME but is still decent long-term, and POWDER is my fav for Android.
I think <em>POWDER</em> is probably the best mobile roguelike I've played, but it isn't in the play store so you'll have to get the apk from the main website if you want to play it. Also, the Android version isn't in their 'Download' section for some reason (probably because it's marked as a 'beta'), but you can find it by scrolling down the news page to the "Ten Years of Development!" post. Here's a direct link to the apk, if you're lazy like me... :P
Other than POWDER, the various incarnations of Pixel Dungeon are good (I especially like <em>Shattered Pixel Dungeon</em>), but they feel much more luck-based. <em>Cardinal Quest 2</em> is also decent, but I don't enjoy it quite as much as the other two I've mentioned.
Oh, one thing to note: some people hate the controls for POWDER on Android. If you don't like them, you can get a Game Boy Advance emulator (such as <em>My Boy! Free</em>) and download the rom from the official download page (it's a freely distributed homebrew game, so downloading the GBA rom doesn't break any laws, unlike downloading a commercial game)...
Well, Dungeons of Dredmor is a rather unique beast, so I don't think you'll find something like it for Android. If you'll be satisfied with traditional roguelikes, though, I can recommend both POWDER (not on the play store but can be side-loaded from this apk) and <em>Shattered Pixel Dungeon</em> (a variation of the original <em>Pixel Dungeon</em>)...
Not exactly what you're looking for, but I hope it helps anyway... :)

You can try shattered pixel dungeon.

The ones I have:
Shattered Pixel Dungeon .. no story just crawling https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon&hl=en_US
Link to Shattered PD. It's the Jenka's Nightmare to Cave Story, if Cave Story was garbage.

But no seriously look at this image then look at vanilla
Try this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon&hl=en
it's a bit easier and more casual
It doesn't even have ads or micro-transaction bullshit. Fun stuff.
My two favorites are POWDER (which isn't on the Play Store and must be side-loaded from the APK) and Shattered Pixel Dungeon (a variant that keeps with the theme of the original but expands upon it with extra content. Also available for PC/Mac/Linux via Java). Of the two, I think POWDER is slightly better.
obligatory - Shattered
I second Shattered Pixel Dungeon
Both games have PC ports as well. Links below:
Both games have ZERO ads or paywalls. Slay the spire is a paid game but is cheap on steam (Rs. 193 on sale right now).
They are rogue-like games so be prepared to die a LOT but winning is very satisfying and you can even become OP with the right items/cards.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
Shattered Pixel Dungeon or Rat King Adventure if you wanna be OP and also ~die~ have fun more.
Dead Cells is great altho costs money. It is still getting updates and new stuffs.
Lately been really addicted to Magic Survival.
I don't know if this is what you're looking for but Shattered Pixel Dungeon is an excellent game.
> I realise that there may be many like that but I guess that they aren't Free to Play, so If they are free it would be great... Dont care if they have in app purchases.
That's kinda your problem right there. Free no matter the cost! You are aware that the whole Daily Login stuff and so on is in BECAUSE they are Free2Play? I would recommend setting some standards like ... not playing stuff with InApp-Purchases. Because otherwise you won't get a game which is actually balanced around the free experience and will only see those which aim at getting your money at every step of the gameplay.
That said there are some good RPGs and strategy games
Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead is probably the most complex RPG experience you can get on mobile.
There's Shattered Pixel Dungeon with minimal monetization. Giving the dev a few bucks unlocks features like Epitaths and Tombstones. Not missing out anything else though.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
Strategy there's OpenTTD for example.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.openttd.sdl&gl=US
If you would accept paying up front instead of paying five times as much over the course of the game you get more options like Planescape Torment, Kotor, Baldur's Gate, Xcom, Root, Morrowind and so on.

After 200+ tl;dr game recommendation posts here on the sub, I have decided to attempt to collect and summarize some of the very best traditional, turn-based, roguelikes on mobile.
This is meant as the 5th entry in my "best of" series here on the sub, where I’ve previously covered Netflix Games, Upcoming Games of 2022, MMORPGs, and Action RPGs.
I hope you'll enjoy it, and share your own favorites below for others to discover <3
__________
1) Shattered Pixel Dungeon | Free - Landscape
This game actually originally started off as a mod for another game called Pixel Dungeon before becoming a stand-alone title, and it’s a tough roguelike dungeon crawler RPG with lots of quests to complete, items to gather, and monsters to defeat.
One of the best aspects of Shattered Pixel Dungeon is that we have four unique character-classes to play as, each of which come with unique sub-class specializations that ensures a high level of replayability.
The bosses are truly challenging in this game, though, so you gotta be prepared to die a lot as you attempt to make your way through the five dungeon floors.
It’s definitely one of the best overall roguelikes on mobile, and it’s completely free-to-play too (apart from donation-based iAPs). Despite the difficulty it’s also rather beginner friendly, so definitely take it for a spin if you haven’t already.
2) Redungeon | Free - Portrait
Redungeon is an endless dungeon crawler by Nitrome with an awesome retro arcade atmosphere, fast-paced gameplay, and a variety of heroes to play as.
The game’s fun core gameplay loop essentially has us collect coins through procedurally generated dungeons, while avoiding obstacles and escaping monsters to unlock and upgrade all 11 heroes.
Since each hero has unique abilities that impact the gameplay, and new mechanics that require us to think fast are introduced in each dungeon floor, the game is addictively fun and does an excellent job at never growing too repetitive.
The game is free to play, and while we CAN pay to instantly unlock and upgrade heroes, it really doesn’t take too long to also grind them through gameplay.
3) Pathos: Nethack Codex | Free - Portrait AND Landscape
I saw one user on MiniReview refer to Pathos: Nethack Codex as an easy intro into the world of proper roguelikes. And I couldn’t agree more.
It’s a challenging roguelike inspired by the 1987 game “Nethack”, where we begin by creating our own custom class based on a list of options, and then jump straight into the first dungeon floor where we try to get as far as possible before dying.
We simply tap an enemy to attack it, but to survive, it’s often much better to avoid combat whenever possible. Each dungeon floor is FULL of a large variety of weapons, spells, and consumables locked in chests, hidden behind traps, or dropped by enemies.
There truly is a ton of content and items to explore, and the game is completely free without ads or iAPs, which is why it easily deserves a spot here.
4) The Enchanted Cave 2 | $5.99 - Landscape
The Enchanted Cave 2 stands out because once we delve into a dungeon, we can only leave if we find a pair of Escape Wings, which allows us to keep any artifacts and gold we’ve gathered.
The game features nine playable characters, but what I really like is that when leveling up, we can distribute skill points across a large skill tree that branches into warrior, mage, and alchemist skills and bonuses.
True to the name of the game, crafting is also super important, as it allow us to for example enchant armor with protection against ice attacks, and as we continuously enter new dungeon floors with different biomes and monsters, it’s critical to keep enchanting our gear with protection against the element used by the monsters roaming those biomes.
The game costs $5.99, and it’s an easy recommendation if you’re looking for something that is traditional yet more fast-paced and action driven than most other games mentioned today.

On words with friends I hate the ads, but like playing the game. So after I enter my word I just close the app completely and open it again. Much faster then watching the ad. And even if it was slower I would still close the app to skip the ad because they never show me anything I am interested in.

My most played game is Shattered Pixel Dungeon, a roguelike for Android (and Windows) in active development.
I've been playing some Zachtronics puzzles (all their games are programming simulator puzzles of different flavors and complexity) and I like Magnum Opus the most, followed by ShenzhenIO.
Braid, Baba Is You and Antichamber are best of weird, mind-boggling puzzles to train out-of-the-box (often literally) thinking.
Oh, and I occasionally play heavily modded Minecraft modpacks to train my ability to recognize interactions and munchkin. I usually pick goal-oriented packs with bootstrap gameplay, like Stoneblock or SkyFactory, rather than normal exploration-oriented Minecraft (But I still connect with friends in vanilla occasionally).
If you like rogue-likes then check out Shattered Pixel Dungeon. Completely free!!

First of course there is Shattered Pixel Dungeon an impressively deep and free open source roguelike.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
Then there's Titan Quest which is a PC port of a rather good Diablo type game.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dotemu.titanquest
Another PC port is King of Dragon Pass which is a very unique and interesting mostly text based clan simulator/RPG.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.herocraft.kodp
Also heavily text based are Sorcery! 1-4, great games based a classic interactive book RPGs series.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inkle.sorcery1
The Banner Saga 1 & 2 are PC ports as well and very good strategy rpgs
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.stoicstudio.BannerSaga
Then there's all the console RPG ports like the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games as well as good ports of Chrono Trigger, The World Ends With You, Chaos Rings, Ys, Secret of Mana, etc.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon - Best roguelike on the phone IMO and one of my favorites. Been playing since '15.
Soul Knight - More or less a Gungeon clone. Amazing Android game. One of the best.
Super Fowlst - Great little roguelike that can get quite intense. I usually play more chill games but this one scratches that Action-game itch when I get it.
Enyo - Turn based roguelike. Not as deep as SPD but each move matters a lot more.
Hoplite - One of the OG turn based mobile roguelikes. Still as good as ever.
The ones currently in my rotation are:
Shattered Pixel Dungeon - Best roguelike on the phone IMO and one of my favorites. Been playing since '15.
Dragalia Lost - The only gacha I'll even consider playing at this point. Even with their generosity I still debate playing because of the addictive nature of gachas. I play very casually now. But this is the best gacha, bar none. And it's portrait when 99% of the rest are landscape.
Meteorfall: Journeys - Extremely polished card-based roguelike. Classes are each fairly unique, and each run feels great.
Super Fowlst - Great little roguelike that can get quite intense. I usually play more chill games but this one scratches that Action-game itch when I get it.
Sudoku - The Clean One - Basic Sudoku game. Don't play it all that much anymore, but it was the best of the bunch when I did.
Golf Blitz - Great PVP golf game made by the same guys who made Super Stickman Golf 3. Though I wish they'd release a 4th installment l, this is a good alternative.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a great little roguelike.

If you don't have access to Play Store, you can also download if for free from Amazon, but you will have to create an account https://www.amazon.com/Shattered-Pixel-Dungeon/dp/B00OH2C21M
These are the two sites that its developer suggests in his github page.

You've played this one, right?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon
That work? You should be able to get it from the page
By 'mobile', do you mean Android, or iOS? Since that wasn't given I'll give links for both where I can...
By far my favorite game on Android is POWDER (though note that it needs to be side-loaded from apk since it's not on Google Play). POWDER technically has an iOS version too, but it's a 32-bit app and will therefore stop working when iOS switches to pure 64-bit (which should be soon, but I don't really know when; might've already happened, even). Besides, I've heard the iOS version has some kind of in-game pay-wall anyway.
My second choice would be Shattered Pixel Dungeon, a fork of the original Pixel Dungeon that aimed to expand the content of the original without ruining the general theme. Unfortunately, this fork is not available for iOS, but you can at least get the original Pixel Dungeon.
Cardinal Quest 2 is pretty decent as well, and feels a bit more 'open' than those others since its setting is 'outside' rather than in a dungeon (or at least it starts outside and I haven't found an actual dungeon yet, but I'm not very good at the game). This game is available for both Android and iOS, and is also available on PC as a Flash game.
I also recommend Ananias, which has both an Android version and an iOS version. It feels very different from most roguelikes since you move room-by room rather than tile-by-tile most of the time, but it's a very good game once you get into it.
Jeff Lait's POWDER is my go-to mobile roguelike, if you're ok with side-loading. The Android version isn't on his download page though (no idea why), so you'll need to scroll down a bit on the news page (or just follow this direct link).
I'd also recommend Shattered Pixel Dungeon, a variant of the original Pixel Dungeon that aimed to expand the original's core features, items, and monsters without adding ridiculous things (it tries very hard to not be a 'kitchen sink' roguelike).
shattered pixel dugeon is my fave
A couple missing roguelikes that are amazing:
<strong>Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead</strong> - This game makes Dwarf Fortress' Adventure Mode look like crap.
<strong>Ultima Ratio Regum</strong> - Not much to it yet, but looks like it will be yet another Dwarf Fortress inspired adventure RL with some pretty neat features like randomly generated works of art (literally; not just text, but the actual imagery)
<strong>ASCII Sector</strong> - It's basically everything Elite: Dangerous promises it will have when it's totally finished. But in ASCII. Fly a ship, deliver goods, fight pirates, hunt bounties, land on planets, explore on foot, walk around inside your ship, etc. Unfortunately, it's no longer being developed.
<strong>Pixel Dungeon: Shattered</strong> - Pixel Dungeon is on the list, but this branch of the official source code fixes and rebalances the game to be near perfect.
Edit: Added to the suggestion list.
