Light manager let's you control the LED notification light on your phone. I get very excited when I glance at my phone and the light is purple it means someone finally texted me back! It was just Verizon welcoming to china even though I just walked into a stop and shop in Connecticut but light manager let me get excited.
Rocker Locker makes it so that the volume buttons just adjust the media volume even if you're not playing something yet. Come on Android, I'm really not trying to adjust my ringer volume. It's 2018 no one's gonna CALL me. Now you can adjust your media volume so it doesn't start blasting Lucas the spider for three seconds while I sheepishly lower the volume and watch the rest of it on one bar.
I use light manager. It's free and let's you use the notification led for any app which you need the paid version of light flow to do. There is a paid version of light manager, but the only thing it does is remove ads and the only place you see the ads is in the app so it's really not necessary to buy it.
I remember Light Flow had some problems with the 6P initially, so I guess that's no surprise, but definitely a good thing to point out if anyone has trouble with this. Light Manager is a good alternative, and I can vouch for that working just fine.
There's also Light Manager. Give it a try, hope it works out for you. Having used (and payed for) both Light Manager and Light Flow, as well as tried several others, I've concluded they're all crap, unfortunately. I'm a big fan of notification leds on my phones, but these apps eventually get confused and not turn on the led when they should, or they use it incorrectly (get the wrong led color for the wrong thing).
The only reliable solution I've found is the donation version of GravityBox, which is an Xposed module (so it needs Xposed Framework and root). It has an "Ultimate notification control" which can control led color as well as notification sounds and vibration, Active Screen, progress bars, has global as well as per-app settings, can sync with do not disturb modes and quiet hours, has smart settings (updated notifications, interval between notifications) etc. But, leaving features aside, it works reliably as expected, which what I really wanted.
PS: Another reliable solution is the built-in ROM support on CyanogenMod/LineageOS. Probably on other custom ROMs as well. The support on TouchWiz is also reliable, but it is not able to override apps, so I only use it for low-power/charge/battery full.
Light manager is an app that does this!
It shows a tiny version of the app icon in the corner of your screen. And the benefit over a notification light: if you have multiple notifications it can show multiple icons
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
> A notification dot would presumably be high or max brightness in the same spot
What? Why? It obviously wouldn't to avoid burn in.
I've been using light manager which has this feature. It's dim and moves around
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
It's just so... half assed. Some apps allow you to control it, some don't. It would be nice if settings for the LED were baked into the system settings where it could be customized on a per-app basis.
As of right now, I use an app called Light Manager to control it. Messaging apps are green. Calendar and reminders are red. Email is Blue. LED blinks at different intervals for different apps of the same color. All other apps are turned off. I just wish it wasn't a third party solution; it could be much better.
It does have some ability to change the color or blink pattern on a per-contact basis for some apps.
One thing I've found is that the S7 LED doesn't do colors other than red, blue, or green very well. Orange is okay.
Edit: I should mention that what I said about messaging apps being green, etc... are because I set them that way. The app allows for full customization on a per-app basis.
Use more RAM? I don't think it matters that much, mate. Why don't you want to use a third-party app? I use Light Manager, and it's fine...
Download Light Manager.
There's an option in advanced settings for sleeping time. You can disable all notifications for a set period. There's also an option for exceptions.
I downloaded Light Manager last week and you can set specific colored LED notifications. I saw that you can even set specific ones for when it's charging (and the percentages of how charged it is in intervals of 25% if I'm remembering correctly) and when it's done charging. I want to say it can pulse too, since I know for the notifications I set up it does.
There isn't a native feature for this. I have had to use Light Manager to wake the screen on notifications. The App is a little buggy however as I have setup a sleep mode to no alert or wake the screen but it still decides wake up. Annoying.
Looking for opinions on Light Manager vs. Light Flow.
Also looking for video player. I tried MX Player, but I didn't like its UI.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
I use this application to customize the flash rate and color for different applications. If I remember correctly, the stock notification light flash rate had a three-second period, which felt irritatingly long. Now I use a two-second period - quite comfortable.
I highly recommend using Light Manager.
The stock behavior of the notification light is very much lacking to me. The light pulse is too slow to be certain you can see at a glance if you have anything, plus the lack of color customization is annoying. Light manger works really well, and I've had fewer issue with it vs even I was using lightflow, which can sometimes take a very draconian approach.
To be slightly different from the other on here. I use Light Manager on my S7. I've personalized it to have different colors for various things:
Text messages - green
Missed call - Orange
gmail - Red
Calendar reminder - blue.
The app works amazingly well and I've been using it since my Nexus 4 days. Its a "lighter" app than Light Flow and works just as well.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
In addition to what others said, you can also use an app to change app notification colors (I use Light Manager and it works very well for my needs - I have different colors setup for a few contacts that IM me, for example).
As far as i can remember, in Settings there is only the option to turn the blink light on or off (just search for 'light').
You can however install an app to assign custom light colours and behaviours on an app-level basis.
This app might be of interest.
It should be enabled by default, if not in the settings type LED and click the toggle box, that should enable it. It's above the top left of the screen and will flash when you have notifications, low battery etc.
Best thing to do would be to get this app and customize it per app because by default it's only like red, green and blue and apps are very distinguishable
>A BlackBerry-style notification LED (although I would like more configurability for this one feature
Try Light Manager
Another amazing feature from samsung which I use in my S7 edge is Adapt sound, plug your headphone and let the app test your hearing, it'll adapt the volume for calls & media according to your preferences, which really helped me to find the best sound experience
Settings > Sound and vibration > Sound quality and effects > Adapt sound
There are also some great features that once you get to use to them, you'll like them:
Double tab the recent button will switch to previous app (like alt+tab)
Double tap the power button will launch camera app (can be turned off in camera settings), double tap power button while camera app is being used will switch the camera.
Try Light Manager - LED Settings. It will let you set your LED to pulse a different color for different app notifications.
Awesome. Whilst I still have you, give this LED manager a go, I loved it on my S5 because I could set subtle differences between colours for notifications, see if you can get a colour that isn't on the list of colours offered by the OS.
Light Manager or Tasker will allow you to schedule the notification LED to turn on/off at certain times. Not the best solution as it requires another app for something that should be standard but it works.
My screen doesn't come on when receiving texts, hangout chat, kik, etc. It does come on when receiving calls.
~~The bad part? I have no clue which app or setting I changed to get this, I'm so sorry. I'm trying to do some testing to see if I can figure it out.~~
I do have Light Manager for LED notifications so that may be it.
EDIT: Okay, so Light Manager is the source. Note the wake screen is unchecked. I checked it, sent myself a text and the screen powered on. http://imgur.com/OlfxKf4 If you decide to go this route, the option is under 'Advanced Settings' and it works for multiple apps instead of just texts. It has also helped me extend my battery life since my screen isn't constantly coming on just to give me a notification.
I've had a good experience with Light Manager. Depending on your phone you might not be able to change blink duration and frequency, but it's worth a shot.
Try this app - Light Manager - LED Settings. There are a few apps like it in the Play Store, so if this doesn't do the trick, look around for similar apps.
I use the Light Manager app, for custom LED notifications for every app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
I use the Light Manager app to achieve this.
You just choose which applications you want this to have an affect on and set the flash rate to None.
You can also customize the color for the notifications and their priority as well. I also like to have it on Alternating mode so that it switches out the colors of multiple notifications at once every few seconds.
Light flow was too flaky for me. I ended up using Light Manager, and it works fine. It's not quite as powerful as Light Flow, but it gets the job done.
I haven't tried Light Flow in a while, and when I did, it was really early, Oreo-wise. I might have to try it again sometime soon...
Both functions are individual app dependent. For instance WhatsApp implements both, you can select the LED notification colour, and has a checkbox for "Enter to Send", same goes for WeChat.
For apps that doesn't implement configurable LEDs, you can use apps that intercept and display notifications. I use LED Manager to configure my notifications for Hangouts and Good/BlackBerry Work on my Priv.
Uhm then it's most likely that the apps have not been Nougat proof yet.
I think a 3rd party app would help you, like Light manager.
It certainly helped me switch the color of my notifications and you should be able to set a color for different apps.
PS: how do you differentiate between the stuff inside? It's like a wonderland to us men.
I use Light Manager. It only controls the LED, and once you configure it, it can be out of sight, out of mind. I see no icons nor notifications from it. I often even forget it exists, as if my Nexus 5 had a native LED notification feature.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
Never had this issue on OxygenOS, but I didn't use the built in LED configuration in settings. You might want to try Light Manager . That's what I had been using and it works pretty well. Also lets you set lights for low signal and other system related stuff. Now on CM13 and can confirm what /u/dolbymark said in his comment. No color changing LED notifications.
> set each color for a certain type of notification but I know that's asking too much for a phone.
I just use Light Manager on my 5x for this and have the single LED flash the color of the icon (red for Gmail, green for Hangouts, etc). It's super effective.
Yep, you can! Just use Light Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
Pro tip: If you want it to turn completely off during charging, just pick a color that is marginally brighter than complete black, e.g. the HEX value "010000".
You can enable the noficiation light to make it work whenever you want using Light Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager&hl=en
This also lets you control the blink rate, brightness, color, etc.
If you have Ambient Display enabled, then the screen will also pop on when you have a notification, but I personally don't use this because I find it to be far more intrusive and tedious than the LED.
I'd assume the component is the same, and by the looks of it it's RGB. If so, I'd reccommend this, it allows you to set any colour and arrangement for notifacations, really makes it useful for apps (I had Messenger light blue, facebook dark blue, texts green, calls whiteish, snapchat yellow and battery notifacation going up from red to orange to solid green, very useful).
download Light manager
you can set colors and blink rates on a per-app basis. it doesn't require much, just set it and forget it. also no persistent notification like lightflow.
I'm like you. I have the LED on for 1 second, and it blinks every 2 seconds.
been using it without any issues for the past couple weeks.
as a disclosure, I am using it on android N preview 3...not marshmallow, so your results may vary.
I have my notification light up my screen for Google's stock messaging app. I think I got it to work doing this:
Download and Install the app Light Manager
Under "Advanced Settings" scroll down and check "Wake Screen"
This may make it so all of your notifications you set up within the app wake up the screen. I set it for Snapchat and Inbox also in the LED light settings.
Check out Light Manager - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager&hl=en_GB
Got mine to work using the 5.1.1 Workaround option in the Application Settings. I have mine setup so it doesn't flash at night, very handy as the wife was getting annoyed by it when she woke up.
I can get every color except a pink and an orange (pink blinks purple, orange blinks yellowish-green)
sounds like you have a faulty LED :(
use light manager to test the colors out just to be sure....it gave me blue for sure.
disable notifications in apps like facebook and whatsapp and use light manager app to manage your notification led, no more random blink
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
Light Manager has the settings for it. I don't use them, but their other notifications work great for me.
I set it to priority only and marked no app as priority. So it's basically silent mode and the LED works. PLus, I use LightManager.
edit: assuming you're on Lollipop and your issue is that "None" mode does not activate the LED.
I'm using Light Manager
I prefer light manager,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
You can use apps like Light Manager, Light Flow or my personal favourite LED Blinker.
I'll be my own bot then
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
Out of the box the 6P has a saturated screen color. If you prefer a more natural color turn on Developer Options and go to:
Settings > Developer Options > Picture Color Mode
and turn on Use sRGB.
You have a multi-colored notification light at the top left of the phone. To make it display in different colors you'll need an app. I like Light Manager.
Your finger print scanner is going to be your new bestie. many apps that require logins now support the scanner. Lastpass and a ton of banking apps come to mind.
NFC works well (though you need to remember it's located right at the top in the visor on the back. I use a bunch of little NFC tags and NFC Tools to have the phone open Android Auto in my car and to open a shopping list when I tap it against one of my cupboards in the kitchen.
I always use Light manager, very good app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
I don't think oos has that functionality built-in.
But you can try something like light manager. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
Use Light Manager:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
This app allows you to customize almost everything about the LED, including what it does or doesn't do when charging.
Oh, I see. You'll be able to customize the OnePlus 3T more than the iPhone through apps, that's for sure.
You can fine-tune the notification LED with Light Manager. You can create automation scenarios with Tasker or Automate to have your phone do stuff based on time/location/configuration, etc. You can get some nice wallpapers through Backdrops or InsWall. You can install and use icon packs to give your icons a more unified/stylish look (my favorite is Click UI). I'm probably forgetting stuff.
Something that you'll hear a lot about is a "Launcher". It's basically what's called SpringBoard on iOS, and it's what manages your home screen. On the OnePlus 3T, it is called OnePlus Launcher, but you'll hear a lot of people talking about Nova Launcher. It offers more configuration possibilities and allows for custom gestures, animations, speed tweaks and much more.
For instance, a base OnePlus Launcher setup will look like this, whereas my custom setup with Nova and an icon pack (Click UI) looks like this.
I would still advise that you try the default OnePlus launcher for at least a few days before giving something else a try, otherwise you would be using a third party launcher without realizing if you actually need it or not. The default launcher is pretty good for the casual user.
To finish: yes, that's indeed the Spigen Rugged Armor! You can check this post for a more detailed list of accessories and user feedback.
Almost the first thing I did was disable ambient display and enable the LED and download Light Manager
I'm using Light Manager and it's working as it should. You can customize it pretty good.
Here's the app that works best for the p20 pro. Customize till your heart's content!
I use Light Manager to set custom LED notifications for apps. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
Maybe use an app like Light Manager? It allows you to choose colors for all installed apps
I use Light Manager
Link: Light Manager
I also use it as well. It's very good
I use Light Manager for LED customization on android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager&hl=en
Light Manager is very good for this.
As to Android Pay working with Systemless Root, no it does not. HOWEVER. After unrooting via the Superuser app and rebooting, Android Pay once again works. My use cases for root don't need to remain rooted all the time, so I simply got done what I needed to do (Adaway Hosts file and TiBackup, etc), then unrooted. If I need root again, it is a simple matter of reflashing the zip in TWRP. In the meantime, I have Android Pay working on a day to day basis.
I have been using Light Manager on my G5. Have used it on my Note 2 and 4 as well.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
Oh sorry. I guess it is a software bug in Lightflow?
Have you tried https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager&hl=en
I use an app called Light Manager. I'm very happy with how it works with lollipop.
Linkme: Light Manager
Lightmanager could be of use, I've used it in the past when I got tired of lightflow acting up.
For custom LED colors, did you try an app like this one?
Light Manager has worked very well for me since Marshmellow days. Constantly updated and future packed!
Try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
I think it uses quite a lot of battery, so I personally don't use it
I use light manager and it works pretty well. It has lots of options to play with. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager&hl=en
I've always needed an app to get a charging light.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
> Notification control, I wish I could change what color the LED flashes for each app.
You can do this with Light Manager. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
You can set up charging lights if you use this app
There is another all called Light Manager that does more or less the same thing. I've tried both apps, and settled on this one.
There are some apps for controlling the LED but I'm not sure how well they work. For example
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
Link for the lazy.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager works wonders on my N5x. You should give it a shot.
Found this.... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager&hl=en
We're talking about iOS,...
AFAIK this is not possible on an iPhone.
Light manager. It just works. Don't bother with the lightflow work around garbage; it would never work properly on my s7 edge. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
By the way, I'm using Light Manager Pro for LED control, and it doesn't require root.
Use light manager with your phone on silent
I use Light Manager. Been going strong for 3 yrs now (Nexus4, Nexus 5, S6).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
I use Light Manager and haven't had any issues. The developer updates it regularly:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
I'm using light manager now and so far it seems to be working
Never failed me: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
I use the app Light manager. Its lighter than Light Flow and does the same thing. I've been using it since my Nexus 4 days. I use it on my S6 and it works very well:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
