I've been a big fan of Chris Sawyer for long time. If you haven't yet, you should check out his mobile game Transport Tycoon.
His mobile release of Transport Tycoon is actually really good. Hopefully they can get a version of RCT working just as well as this one.

No problem mate, Was my problem in the 1st games, too. I play with more future orientated management now and the City is developing very now. But I don't play very long - just 10-20 minutes a day and don't feel slow anymore. Na, might be not your thing.

I'm 99% sure they were playing Transport Tycoon. This is a new/different game released in 2013 for mobile devices.
He was involved actually, see the quote below from this news post from Atari's site. Oh and it's also available on iOS devices, that's one thing I forgot to mention.

He also worked with Origin8 to port one of his other games (Transport Tycoon) to Android.
He mentioned in an interview with Eurogamer (really good interview too btw) earlier in 2016 about his current "pet project" being trying to bring RCT2 to mobile devices, that is when I first heard about it and he was able to just that before the end of 2016.
It is really hard to find a deep game for android, most of them are very simple and i'd say - stupid. What i recently found was Transport Tycoon. This one is not free but it is old school one just ported to android. There is actually a free transport tycoon for android but i forgot where that is. Also i really loved this one: game dev story. Another option you have is to play a browser game from your phone/tablet and the choice would be - virtonomics. You not going to find anything that complex and detailed for android but it can be hard to play virtonomics from your device, especially when you have a big company. Although you can do some stuff from your phone and when you at home - do something important and big from your PC. Good thing is that you can log in from any device.
Sadly there are not a lot of good tycoon games on Android. But you can find a few gems.
Transport Tycoon not updated for years but still my favorite. You can also try OpenTTD, I personally don't like the touch controls but it's perfect on PC.
Game dev tycoon excellent port.
Roller-coaster Tycoon the old classic.
Kairosoft Games are very good too. I particularly liked Grand prix story, Pocket stables, Mega mall story (I haven't tried the second yet) and Game dev story.
Motorsports manager maybe not exactly what you're looking for but it's an excellent management game.

There's a Transport Tycoon game with better control adaptation for mobile. Costs around $2 without ads and microtransactions. Haven't been updated for a while, though.
