It's squad based battle. You recruit heroes via summons, then you have to gather tokens to upgrade these heroes. You also need to equip your heroes with items that you gather. Similar game also include Summoners Wars.
I know and play a lot of games with no clear end, so I know what you mean. It's just the severe lack of content that makes it stick out from the rest, really.
I for one play a lot of Summoner's War, another mobile game with no distinct "end". It, however, has an astounding amount of content and lets players solve problems their own way (if they choose to), which has kept me playing.
Comparing the two games is what makes me a tad furious though, since Niantic is doing such a poor job managing things.
My friends have been hooked on Summoner's War for a while. I guess you can call it an RPG, it has Final Fantasy style combat and it's grindy but it's rewarding and pretty deep.
Summoners War is pretty similar in turns of the turn based RPG gameplay and toon building/collecting but a lot different when it comes to how you acquire the more toons. It's a really polished game and very fun to play. It also has a really active community and many people you can learn from on reddit and youtube as the game can be kinda confusing at first.
I only caught it for a second on the earthcam (credit to /u/RollX for the good idea), but any chance it was Summoners War?
Summoners War: Um dos poucos jogos que joguei por mais de semanas no Telefone (ótimo pra passar o tempo quando está atoa)
There are some waifus but not too many. The game is Summoner's War. I enjoy the strategy aspect even though the RNG is frustrating. Not a game I'd recommend to people who aren't dead set on going deep into it tbh LOL.
Download from the playstore on your pc.
I honestly half expected something like Summoner's War. At no point was I expecting anything close to a standard pokemon game. Not for free and not with the projected timeline they had.
I unfortunately already tried the force no resize option. The game is Summoners War
I will go ahead and try and submit through the feedback hub

This game has the same gameplay as this another shitty mobile game, from 6 years ago. There are hundreds of these and they are all boring...
E7 is a direct ripoff of Summoner's War. You can also see some of E7's direct competitors here.
That said, good luck trying to find anything better. I'm not saying E7 is the best game around -- far from it -- but E7 is among the best in its genre for the time being.
If you are looking for quality video games, you won't find them in the FTP gatcha mobile market.

Summoners War? - Before playing this game I had never committed to a mobile game. I am now 254 days in and have not missed a single day.
Summoners War saka MilkChoco
It's a google play app. My neighbor's kid begged me to start playing so he could friend me. Aaaaaaand now I'm hooked lol!
10 million ? those might be reviews, the stats say :
>Installs >10,000,000 - 50,000,000
so that leaves the other 20 mil ~ apple/etc appstores users.
...OOT, where did that extra 20 million players come from? Even Google Play only list 10 mil to 50 mil players.
> 3) It's more complex than Hearthstone in that it has a three dimensional board and requires knowledge on how to place your minions and generals to win, thus isolating the casual audience Hearthstone has.
Buy to Win is much more strategic than Pay to win. :)
I like Summoner's War. There's Ads only once per day when you first open it with the option to now show you again. And once per day it will give you the option for a daily deal that you close out of.
Other than that, it doesn't try to get you to buy anything. The game's a lot of fun and reasonably fair. IE you can sorta pay to win but it's still completely based on RNG or which monster's you summon. So you could buy gems to buy scrolls and get shit or you could play normally, buy scrolls with gems and get awesome monsters.
Looks good, plays smoothly (on iPad, iPhone 6+, and Galaxy Note 4, haven't tried it on any other devices). They always have some event going on, daily rewards, quest, etc.
So not really ads (not like other games where is constantly shows you ads), doesn't really try to get you to buy anything, and it's pretty decent.
I would at least recommend trying it out.

Summoner's War is probably the largest and most popular and most similar, but there are a ton of others. It's a popular style that extends out to CCGs as well.
Very nice game, I was addicted to it for a while, but once Dokkan came out I had no space on my mobile, so I ditched SW for Dokkan. lol
I'm a big fan of RPG games so here's some of the the android game that I recommend or currently playing right now.

Inuubos ko lang energy sa Summoners War :D
I am addicted to Summoners War.
Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent? What!? This the first i hear about it. I just recently bought the game too.
Games I am currently playing:
- Summoners War: have invested 3-4 years into this game. I like it but i hate it at the same time. I only pop in to do siege/GW/Labs and call it a day until they start making better balance patches/updates.
- Epic Seven : i just started this one out, again. Got to say, i'm loving it. I have gotten 3 ML 5* within 3 months. F2p friendly, pity summon, collabs and much more.
Gacha games I have dropped and uninstalled:
- Genshin Impact : I was one of the many people who followed this game before it was dropped in NA. I dropped it a month after because I was too damn busy. Not picking it up though since it feels like it'll take up all of my time.
- PGR after the first controversy.
- Last Cloudia : I used to main/idle this. It was my favorite game. I saved up 72k (24x10 pulls) from login/ark/dailies just to pull in Nier collab and got shafted. Not even pulling the limited ark/unit. As a f2p player, crystals are hard to get as soon as you max all of your arks, units and do all of the story. Really good limited exclusive gear are also stuck behind paywall. Lots of power creep units. To pity a unit, it's 90k Crystal and as far as i know, there weren't pity for nier unit. Also, there are A LOT of limited units and less of permanent units.
Games I would like to try out:
- Revived Witch because it looks a lot like Octopath Traveler. It's also about to go in close beta.
- World Flipper because I'm hearing so many good things about it.
- Slime - Isekai Memories which is currently open for pre-registration. I hope its atleast better than the other slime games which looks amazing.

Not sure if you would enjoy this, but this is the only mobile game I've been playing for more than 3 years and still enjoy, despite giving many other games a try.
The game is called Summoner's War: Sky Arena and it's a gacha-style turn-based strategy game (the RPG element they advertise is really not that dominant). It does have a variety of packs to purchase (and quite expensive as well) but it's pay to play (and while it does help with progression it's not essential) - one can go 100% free to play and not experience many drawbacks (I never purchased anything and can compete with players who spent hundreds of dollars). Understanding game mechanics is more important and recently, many new F2P players have joined the club and shared their experiences to show how much one can achieve in a few months if one plays smart.
It has various PvE and PvP content, the main focus is farming PvE content to level up monsters (and runes to make them stronger) which you then use to build different teams to master more difficult PvE and PvP content. It requires some understanding of statistics and math which makes theory-crafting quite fun/interesting if you enjoy that, but even without diving in too deep into game mechanics you can still enjoy other aspects like collecting monsters, fighting other players in arena and guild content.
There is always room for optimization, thus the game is very grindy (since all drops are RNG-based, meaning good stuff is quite rare) so if you don't enjoy that it may not be fun for you. However, the game receives regular updates and there are many weekly/monthly events that give new players helpful resources to accelerate progression. It's also an always-online game, so you need internet connection to play it.
You can play the game solo, but it is recommended to join a guild in order to receive additional resources from guild content which will help your progression. Overall, the rate of progression depends on how much time you are willing to invest but also understanding game mechanics, planning ahead, building solid teams, etc. It requires quite some strategy (apart from the strategic nature of actual fights/dungeon runs). After you reached certain milestones you can also auto-farm most PvE content which makes that aspect more of a "background gaming" thing where you don't really have to pay much attention to the game.
If all this still sounds interesting to you, check out r/summonerswar to get an idea what the game is like. I can also recommend these youtube channels if you want to see actual in-game footage:
Jewbagel: quite beginner friendly, also has F2P series showing players how to progress without spending any money, highly recommended if you decide to play the game
Maths Plus: theory-crafting channel, very math/statistics heavy, very educational
SeanB: mainly PvP content (P2P and F2P)
It's a very interesting type of game imho and no matter how many other similar games have been released over the years, I still gravitate back towards SWSA because of the overall game concept. Is it a perfect game? Far from it, many things aren't that great, but the community is very dedicated to communicate their desires and devs try to make changes accordingly.
Overall, the game is quite complex - I think that's the main reason I enjoy it so much. If you want to progress efficiently and avoid mistakes, diving into the subreddit and youtube videos is recommended as well.
This game obviously is designed in a way that creates an incentive to spend money. But as pointed out (and done by many) there is no need to spend any money. Everyone can access all the content and the more easily obtainable monsters are good enough to compete with P2P players. At the very top of arena PvP or world championship a F2P player will struggle to compete but once you reach that point (which will take around 2 years or more) you might have a good enough understanding to make a solid decision regarding in-game purchases.
Summoners War definitely, it's a mobile game, I play like 8-10 hours at day.
I've been hearing good things about Summoners Wars and I'm planning to try it out this summer. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.com2us.smon.normal.freefull.google.kr.android.common
https://u.pomf.is/fkrgrx.apk
This should download "fkrgrx.apk" (sorry the website automatically changes it's name. The original APK name should be able to be found using hex reader; "com.com2us.smon.normal.freefull.google.kr.android.common" if you don't trust me)
(I have no idea why they named it this in the Play Store but it's from this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.com2us.smon.normal.freefull.google.kr.android.common&hl=en )
That should be what you're looking for.
Edit: https://pomf.is/ is the site. It's mainly used for uploading images that doesn't do the compression that Imgur automatically applies.
