For manga: Tachiyomi. Great stuff. Beats MangaRock in many ways, it even got MAL integration! For offline comics: Challenger Viewer. It may look unintuitive with confusing lotta options at first, but if you managed to understand them it becomes very powerful and customizable.
I use both, and they're free!
To everyone looking for a good comic/manga reader I suggest Challanger Comic Reader
I love infinite scrolling readers but nearly all of them are laggy/clunky but this one is the smoothest ever.
There are many advanced options to play with. As a start change the default main menu theme to colorful. After trying it out if you don't like something check all advanced options and see if you can do something.
Pigasus VR Media Player (Full Screen, no Oculus TV app) & Challenger Comics Viewer
For a comics /manga server use Ubooquity, as may have been suggested before ; ^)
For a Android client use Challenger Viewer which supports not only Ubooquity and OPDS but Mega, OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive cloud services as well as Ftp, sftp, samba/CIFS, webdav & UPnP/DLNA.
Totally for free, no ads, though there is a donation version but no extra features.
The one I use is Challenger Comic Viewer.
Its completely free so try it out. Don't forget to check out the advanced options etc.

You should definitely try out Challanger Comic Viewer. Its my favorite comic viewer as I love infinite scrolling readers and this one is the smoothest ever.
Change the default main menu theme to colorful and it will look great. After trying it out if you don't like something check the options menu. It has tons of customizations.
I'd rather use Challenger Comics Viewer than Tachiyomi for handling local cbr/cbz comics for the simple fact that it can read files from any folder instead of only from its own folder.
Yes, the UI looks ancient, but the reading experience is excellent and it has tons of options.
Check out Challenger Comic Reader.
It has many advanced options. You can just set it up however you want. Super high image quality or battery saving lower quality etc...
And has a super smooth infinite scrolling viewer too.
Just checked it for you and Challanger Comic Viewer works great on my S4 multiwindow.
And its my favorite comic viewer because I love infinite scrolling readers and this one is the smoothest ever.
Change the default main menu theme to colorful and it will look great. After trying it out once don't forget to read all of the options menu as it has tons of customizations.
I have been using Challenger Viewer for years. You can basically customize every aspect of it. No ads, lightweight. TachiyomiJSK and TachiyomiSY is better for manga since you can find content through the app, but Challenger Viewer is great if you already have the cbr or cbz files.

Thank you. I store my manga collection on my samba server, so I prefer a local app. I tried Challenger Comics Viewer the other day, it took a few mins to add a 50m zip file from samba which is not acceptable for. It reminds me of how perfect the perfect viewer was.
Are you building a VR app or an Android app? Look forward to your release. Thank you
I highly recommend using challenger comic viewer. You can download the manga you want to read using tachiyomi(I usually set mangasee as the source, they usually have high-quality images, but not always). Using challenger comic viewer has the following advantages:
-ability to use volume buttons for next/previous page
-lanczos 4 scaling(performance->scale filter algorithm->lanczos and you can mess with the other options from here to get the best quality.I keep bitmap scale at maximum, bitmap filter: checked, scale up small images: large, bitmap memory optimization: enabled, high-resolution bitmap range: current+previous+next)
-most important to me, white-cropping so no space is wasted(it's found in display options, border-cropping, and just check medium)
-I lock the orientation to portrait view then enable display->Rotate double pages images(only in portrait mode) and use fitting type:fit to screen. This way, when there's a double page-spread, I see them both in landscape mode and then when I go to the next page, it goes back to the regular portrait-view.
What I could suggest is download the manga using any app you choose (or FMD on windows) then use Challanger viewer to read it. Its my favorite reader by far.
Its infinite scrolling reading is very smooth.
Dont forget to check advanced options.
If you are willing to try another app until the bug is fixed I can suggest Challanger Viewer.
Its free without ads so worth a try. Its also best comic/manga reader I have found too.
You can play with the advanced options if theres something you dont like.
If you are using Manga Blitz for viewing manga/comics, then try using Challenger Viewer. You only need add the manga folder/s to the library. Its highly customisable and also adfree.
Challenger Comics Viewer. Opens comics files as well as epub and pdf. No ads in free version.
Universal Book Reader. Has ads in free version.
Can confirm Challenger Comic Reader has the options you want.
You can adjust it however you want.

Comics for me too, usually read at least one before bed every night.
I use Challenger Comics Viewer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kill.geek.bdviewer&hl=en
Ik gebruikte deze altijd. Volgens mij doet die het wel met een SD Kaart.
Probably Challenger Comics Viewer.
But I have Materialistik icon pack so its all good.
Challenger Comics Viewer, better than ComicRack too imo:

Challenger comics viewer.
Sideload Google Play apps following these instructions:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/10/03/install-play-store-amazon-fire-tablet/
Then, in the Google Play app store, download your comic reader of choice. I recommend Challenger Comics Viewer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kill.geek.bdviewer&hl=en_US&gl=US
Or PefectViewer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer&hl=en_US&gl=US
Both are free.
I read all my manga and comics with Challenger Comics Viewer
It's free and pretty solid, never had any issue with it!
Hmm that's frustrating. I wish I could help more with either of those, I know the dev is very responsive for. MangaDLR. He might be able to help on discord or through email (links in the app).
Did some Google searching for an app that might work for your situation:
Challenger comics viewer. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kill.geek.bdviewer
Scan-manga viewer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cattowersoft.scv
And Perfect viewer - if you have multiple files per chapter add them to a zip. (might be the same for the other two apps) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rookiestudio.perfectviewer
If one ends up working for you please respond so I can recommend it in the future.
