Space marshal and space marshal 2. Both are top notch. While the 1st title is paid(no ads and IAP) the 2nd tittle is free (with ads and a single IAP to remove ads and get premium stuff after missions). While title 1 is challenging, the 2nd title isn't that challenging while compared to 1st one. Both are highly recommend. They are both startegy-action-stealth-shooter games.(check in playstore)

One of my favorites was the Space Marshals series. I don't think they're remakes, I think they made the mobile versions along side the windows one. Controls are pretty nice, too.
Also check out Leo's Fortune. Very polished with great visuals.
Two of the best buys I've ever done from the play store were space marshals and space marshals 2 by Pixelbite.
They where recommended from the Nvidia app on my shield k1 and boy are they worth it! You just feel the love those guys/gals have put on this games and it is refreshing to see a game without any dependence on IAPs or ads. They are those games that even reading the reviews on the play store can sell you the experience. You see people drinking water on the name of the devs with well articulated sentences which is something I love seeing!
While the first game was paid only, the second game was free to play throughout, with some special weapons locked until you purchase the game. But I think this is fair enough because you still can experience the full game without loosing much. Also I think that if the game was paid from the get go, their sales will be a LOT lower. Personally I bought the 2nd game first after loving every bit of it and then bought the first one which only lack the stealth takedown mechanic. Also on the 2nd space marshals game the visuals are so crisp such as subtle lighting effects, poorly lit areas, the stealth mechanics have all seen small improvements over the first title.
Unfortunately, if you look at the sales of the first game, they were nowhere near your average pay to win cancerous games. And judging by the time they should have put on their games, it just doesn't look like a profitable business to go for the classic model of quality made game->full price for the full thing->amazing experience that will be talked about and will be loved.
Still, I hope that they continue the series (and without falling into the pay to win trap) because to my non hardcore-gamer eyes, space marshals series certainly feels timeless.
Somehow these haven't been mentioned yet, but the Space Marshalls games are incredible. Well done graphics, gameplay, story, and very challenging.
With the popular Geometry Wars 3 out on Android, I found another cool looking dual stick shooter called Xenowerk for $1.99 where you shoot mutants. Haven't played it myself though.
According to the developers: "The IAP are only OPTIONAL for those who simply want to get the greatest gear right away. We assure you it doesn't interfere with the game progression."
They also have another game called Space Marshals that has really good reviews: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pixelbite.sg&hl=en
Oh try going from a browser instead of play store app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pixelbite.sg
And open that link on Chrome (in desktop mode) should be able to buy it, then I can send you apk and it should work
Space Marshals on Android. The first one is $5 but the 2nd one is similar and free. Basically it's highly replayable because each mission can be played through up to 4 times while earning a new item to use. I still haven't beat the game and have had it for a year. I just keep going back to try and beat a previously played mission so I can win an item I'll never really use. And it's not like the items are luck of the draw. You get to pick which one you get... It's just that the game requires a bit of skill n there and I keep forgetting that and just try to rush and be a walking tank. But I am not a walking tank. I am a cowboy in space.
Just beat Space Marshals and it has by far been the best game I've played on my phone, but now that I've finished it I am looking for any similar games to it. Do any of you have suggestions?

But the game is free on Amazon Underground, so unless you really want to support the dev - get it there.
If I'm going to pay money for a phone game I'd rather do it up front. Here are some that I bought and ended up being really awesome games all around. No regrets!

And here are some that are just all around good, and not too pushy with their ingame stuff
Hope that helps
Trying to decide between: Space Marshals,Door Kickers Or Antisquad Tactics.

Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but Space Marshal is a great game (playable also with a controller).

i would also suggest XCOM especially since XCOM 2 is rumoured to come to android somewhere in 2021
there's also all the Madfinger games for some shoty shoty zombie action
if you are looking for a good horde shooter then Sigma Team's Alien Shooter Franchise is a recommended pick

What are some others?
I've really enjoyed Space Marshals and Xenowerk from Pixelbite.
I have a Moga controller but they stopped selling them 1-2 years ago, but their website still lists several games. They also had a client app, but it's been removed from the play store. It can be sideloaded and it works fine.
All from the same devs:
Space Marshals, Space Marshals 2, and Xenowerk met these criteria when I installed them. I'm sure they still do, but some of them use to be paid and now appear to be free with IAP. I've never seen ads in SM2, but they were in Xenowerk.
Free games for sure, but there are good paid games though. For example, I really like Space Marshals. Paid games are cheaper on mobile because that's the standard that has been set. However, PC gamers will shell out a good chunk of change for Star Wars Battlefront which contains micro transactions.
There are also good freeware games as well. For example, Brawl Stars. Good freeware games, just get overshadowed by the card games, RPGs without the R, and hyper casual games. There's even a book on that one.
Correct link for the 1st one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pixelbite.sg
