You can try Jack's Music Player widget on the playstore, not sure if it works for everyone of those programs but it works for me when I use Spotify, Shuttle, Pocket Cast and background youtube playback.

This is what I have been using and it works wonderfully and is quite customizable.
I use Jack's Music Widget, You can't thumbs up/down but I'd rather have one widget that can control multiple players.
GPM and Spotify I use but It does others.

Ubiquity Music Widget is a universal music widget that I've used for years. It mostly works, the only issue I've had is sometimes the widget becomes unresponsive. I've only tried one other universal widget and it also had the same issue.
I used to use Ubiquity Music Widget but it's not very reliable anymore on my current device and just stops working. I have a feeling it's YTM's fault as the notification often disappears too and I have battery optimisations all disabled for both YTM and UMW.
After a quick search on the play store, this works for basic play and pause while displaying the correct album art. Tested with android 7 on an LG v20
EDIT: and skip track
Ah cool. Yeah I don't have spotify premium makes sense why I've not seen it before.
Not sure if Jack's widget currently works with Spotify or not , it used to, but it seems to suit a wider range of homescreens. It's a music widget that works with a whole range of music players and services. Worth a try.
I used to use an app called jacks music widget and it works pretty well for this( although it can be a bit buggy). Read the dev notes beforehand if you choose this app
I've been using Jack's Music Widget. It's like a universal widget for all media. Whatever is actively playing media back (music app, radio app, DLNA casting app etc.) it will display controls for it.
This widget will do all the music apps and also Youtube (vanced too)

Ubiquity does them all!

This app Ubiquity claims to work with any music player which displays controls on the lock screen, but reviews are pretty poor and it hasn't been updated for 2.5 years
I actually removed the Spotify widget a few years ago because it clashed with my theme.
I use ubiquity music widget: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jackthakar.musicwidget
It also supports other media players, so I keep a Spotify shortcut next to it in case I've been watching YouTube or coursera or something. I've got it in my second dock with Nova and it works great.
Yes sir currently have it installed on my galaxys10+ running on pie. In terms of keeping the notification in the bar permanently. I think you can hold on the spot song notification when it's running and it will bring up some settings to adjust
EDIT: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jackthakar.musicwidget I have the play store app installed and not the GitHub one
Suggestion A: use Ubiquity Music Widget to clean it up.
Suggestion B: use Popup Widget 3 to add the widgets to a swipe up gesture for an icon, much like Action Launcher.
Gave up on that so long ago
Just use Jack's Widget, the free version is already a million times more customizable than the spotify widget
It's not Nova, it's the Google play widget. The top one is Jack's Music Widget, maybe you could use that instead.
edit: the one I'm using is full bleed, but they have another option which uses the album image on the side and the controls and info on the right that looks more like the Google widget.
Jack's Music Widget is the best in my opinion. You can set have it set to completely transparent and it works with any media player I've tried.
Included is
Nova Prime
I use Action Launcher 3, which has the ability to change the color of the search bar.
For the music I use the stock Google Play Music widget and Jacks Music widget. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jackthakar.musicwidget&hl=no
I love
It works with any media player you're actively using, so you only need one widget.
This works well as a widget replacement for me, unfortunately you have to give it notification access for it to work

Been using this for a few years and I love it
Check out Jack's Music Widget
I use this as a universal media widget. I use it for Sonos, Shuttle+, Spotify and Pandora.
Favorite by far is Jack's Music Widget. It allows you to control whatever media you currently have playing, plus set a default app to open on tap if you don't have anything playing. Even works with YouTube and Netflix. Here it is pictured with my next favorite:
Weather Timeline. Love the app and love the widgets even more.
DigiCal is my favorite calendar app for a variety of reasons, one of them being the crazily customizable widgets. This is how I like to set them up.
Those are my favorites that I use regularly, but I also have a page with Boost for Reddit and Flamingo for Twitter, and another with Google Keep and two different Phillips Hue app widgets.
Edit: forgot to mention Dashclock, as I just started using it again. Other than Zooper it's my go to for homescreen clock and other info. Screenshot
Home Screen: *Glyphs by tokems *Clock Widget *Background
Music Page: *Jack's Music Widget over a semi-transparent UCCW widget I made.
Calendar Page: *Month
As a replacement I would suggest you this app. Been using it for months to match my home screen themes https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jackthakar.musicwidget
