I'm a casual reader of Twitter, so I don't know if this will be able to provide "the complete experience", but I really enjoy Falcon Pro.

Beautiful and customizable for how you want to organize various time lines. Worth the price too, but if price is an issue, Tweedle is my personal close second.

I don't know of any for Facebook but for twitter Falcon Pro and Tweet Comb are both great.

I'm not sure of a way to make it any louder than it would be for you as it is, unless there's additional settings inside the app itself.

Falcon for Twitter - Not sure if abandoned, but it's full of bugs. I don't even remember when was the last update.
