>1. Attending a mosque, is there anything I need to be aware of here? I want to make sure I don't make anyone uncomfortable or offended, but I also don't want to do something that goes against what I believe given my religion.
Convert here.
Best time would be Jummah. Friday prayers.
All you need to do dress modestly like your Sunday's best. If male go to the male's entrance or female go to the female entrance. If there are people praying. Don't walk in front of them. Just find a corner and listen. You'll have a "sermon" and then the prayer starts.
If you have questions. The imam or other brothers and sisters can help you.
BTW everyone loves new faces. You'll get a lot of hellos.
>2. Readings, should I read the Qur'an front to back? Or is there a specific spot I should start? In the Bible, our books are organized by category, not necessarily chronological, so we wouldn't suggest front to back reading, just wondering if the Qur'an might be the same here.
The Quran isn't in chronological order. I recommend listening to an English translation.
My favorite: Listen to The Quran: An English Translation by Safina Society #np on #SoundCloud https://soundcloud.com/safina-society/sets/the-quran-an-english
Why listen? The Quran mainly told and not read. The Quran is best for the ears than the eyes in my option.
I recommend the Clear Quran www.quran.com https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran or M A S Abdel Haleem translation.
>Any other tips, information, or resources you could provide for someone looking into this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much and have a good day.
If you want to be Muslim. When you convert. Don't make it your priority to see what school or sect to belong. Just try your best and learn. Your a Muslim first not a Shia, Sunni, and etc. Allah will guide you if you want to join one of the four schools of Sunni Islam or Shia.
I recommend this because it has 'The Clear Quran' translation. This translation is an attempt to preserve the flow of the verses and make it eloquent. Try initially reading the translation from this one than go to another source.
The one I currently use is Quran for Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran&hl=en). I've tried quite a few and so far this is the best as far as I can tell.
Hello, I'm not new here, but there is lots of things that I don't understand quiet yet, but I will gladly answer any question I can. Since you are interested in talking about god; have you ever read the Koran? If you would like to read it, here is a free app with recitation and of course the translation of it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
Here you go akhi https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
You just need to download your favourite translation from the app. When you read the Arabic text, you just have to longtap on the ayah and then tap on the globe.
I tried Muslim Pro and it was so bloated and clunky that I uninstalled it. So I definitely do not think it was worth it.
For Quran, I use Quran for Android
For prayer times, I use Tasker. I created a couple of tasks to give me the exact Salah times for my home location, and if I'm not home, then it gets location coordinates of my current location and calculates the Salah times based on those numbers. Plus, I have it coded so that it gives me timings for 1/3 of night, 1/2 of the night, and 2/3 of the night. And as any Android user knows, your imagination is essentially the only limitation with Tasker, so you can create custom widgets, set up conditions to run the code, etc. Honestly, I have found this set up to be the best for prayer timings, as a lot of the apps I've used in the past either lacked some feature I needed or it was bloated with things I didn't need.
For finding the qibla direction, I use [Google's qibla finder](qiblafinder.withgoogle.com) and just added it to my home screen as a web app.
I am personally still looking for a good Hadith app for Android, such as the Sunnah.com for iOS, but haven't found something I like yet. I'm actually thinking about learning some app development and creating my own, lol
I use the Quran.com app.
You can highlight individual words, and ~~it will tell you the pronunciation~~(and also shows the translation for that word). Also, it is adfree.
edit: the individual word pronunciation feature is only on the mobile site, but not on the app
Oh yeah , No sleeveless t-shit , wife beater vest , Pants shorter then 3/4th , shorts.
>English versions of the ~~Quoran~~ Quran that have some commentary on it?

On my smartphone, I use Quran for Android.
It's very swish, has the hand written Madinah script and has built in quran audio and even translation and tafseer. It's like my all-in one Quran app.
Link below:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran&hl=en&gl=US
> that is supposedly by a Muslim
I didn't know that. May Allah guide us all.
I found the translation in This Qur'an app .
The translation is by "Abdul Haleem". I just picked the first translation available in English so If you know any better translations please suggest
Used to use that app as it seemed to be an all in one sorta package, but all its features are poorly implemented and bombarded with ads. A fellow member of this subreddit created an app called pillars which I will link below. Ui is wonderful with a brilliant aesthetic no ads and due to its focus on functionality the lack of widgets isn't a problem.
In addition when trying to recite the Qur'an on Muslim pro for Ramadan the mushaf reader doesn't work after a few juz which is quite annoying with the advertising of the khatam feature.
I'd recommend suing pillars and a standalone Qur'an app.
I'm using Pillars, a new privacy-focused & ad-free Prayer app for Muslims 🕋.
thepillarsapp.com
Download & share the app now:
Apple: thepillarsapp.com/apple Android: thepillarsapp.com/android
The Qur'an app I use is (unsure if there is an apple version)- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
For Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
For Ios:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/quran-by-quran.com-qran/id1118663303
The app allows you to listen to recitations whilst you read it in arabic or english. Alot of ease in this app
Wa Alaikum Assalam
I don't know if this answers your question but there is an Azerbaijani translation available on the Quran for Android app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.metinkale.prayer
Read the permissions yourself. Also nice deflection. I never stated data was being sent I posted all information stating data will be collected. Why would they collect data if they do not intend to sell it?
i just do it manually . . . do not know of a bit yet as i do it on a couple of platforms. copy verses from this app and send them. been doin it for a couple of years al hamdulillah and last month i found reddit. and here we are.
Tell them to download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran It has all types of translations and its available on IOS too but kinda different interface, the best Quran app Ive ever seen. If you want a physical copy, you can download the app and see all different translations and buy the one they would like the most.
For me the best one is this one : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
It does everything you asked for plus you read it page by page, for me it matches exactly the mushaf I have at home so it is easier for me to memorize it
This Quran app for Android also has the Abdel Haleem translation you can download within the app. I use this one everywhere I go
Hi, I recently asked a similar question, although it was not for the best translation but if there was a book summarizing Quran for people of other religious as well as Muslims. The answer was that nobody did such a summary.
When it comes to reading the translation, the best translation is the one you can understand better, in terms of the vocabulary they used and if there are any explanation in between the lines. What I found best is to load several different translation into an app like "[The Quran]" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran&hl=en) . I know there are several ones, but there is just one with multiple translations easy to switch. So as you are reading one translation, if you come to a point where you want to understand more, switch to a different translation and switch back as you read. It really is a great way to understand.
There's a really excellent app called QuranAndroid: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran&hl=en
It has a very large number of reciters, and it also allows you to repeat a set of verses a certain number of times.
Best of all it's (a) free (b) open source so if you want to add features, you can! (https://github.com/quran/quran_android)
Not all actually. This one doesn't have any at all.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
The quran.com app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran https://quran.com/apps Amazing app. You can download the audio before hand so it works with no signal
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
I memorized it in several hours. But personally, I find memorization in general quite easy. I played a recitation over and over for several hours and tried my best to repeat it every time until I had it. I was also looking at a transliteration for help with pronunciation.
I use this app for the recitation. You can find the same recitations at the website if you don't have an Android device.
I think it's also really really helpful to learn to read the Arabic alphabet. Here's a great app for learning the Arabic alphabet. They teach it really really well imo. And here's a list of free online Islamic classes, at the top of which is a nice class on Arabic pronunciation.
May Allah guide you and reward you abundantly for your efforts. Ameen.
I use Quran Android
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran hope this link works
I assume you want English language material.
The most popular translation I see these days is by Abdel Haleem and published by Oxford University Press: http://www.amazon.com/Quran-Oxford-Worlds-Classics/dp/0199535957
It has some minimal footnotes. It's quite good (I use it myself).
I'd recommend you to get this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
Then after installing you can go to settings -> translation and get Haleem's translation. However I think the footnotes might be missing.
Also take a look at this: http://www.amazon.com/Quran-Annotated-Interpretation-Modern-English/dp/1597841447
I have not read it in it's entirety (yet), but I have read portions and so far it has been quite good. It seem to have been well received and has been recommended to me by a few people I know.
For a Quran app I would highly recommend this one.
For anyone looking for a Quran app, I found the Quran app's quran to be smoother than Muslim Pro -- it feels lighter and less bloated.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/quran-by-quran-com-%D9%82%D8%B1%D8%A2%D9%86/id1118663303
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran&hl=en_GB&gl=US
It is open source as well. https://github.com/quran
This is also a great one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
Oh, it's everywhere. You can get it as an ebook on Google Play Books and Amazon Kindle. There's lots of cheap copies on ebay and Amazon. There's even a free android app with different translations and recitations.
Yes, E904 is Halal gelatine.
The Open DNS is used to block pornography and its very effective, here is a video on how to implement it.
Hope that was helpful =)

Welcome to the Ummah! Congratulations, Allah (swt) has seen good within your heart and has guided you on how best to communicate with him.
Fave apps for android:
Quran for Android has lots of translations in many languages, including the one mentioned above.
> I don't know Arabic so I cant read the Quran by myself, I have to rely on the translator.
Try this:
Get the Quran.com app called Quran for your phone (Android version here). Download whatever translation you choose. For English, I like the one by Abdul Haleem. Then, download an Arabic recitation, I like Abdur-Rashid Sufi. But there are many languages and translations and LOTS of Arabic audio reciters.
Read the Quran on your phone while the audio recitation plays simultaneously. Feel the recitation. Experts say that 70-93% of human communication is non-verbal. Body language, tone of voice, rate of speech, volume, pauses, melody, etc. All of which (except body language) can be heard through the recitation. The written word is not the Quran. The Quran was transmitted orally. The real Quran is when you read it aloud yourself or listen to someone else do it.
I don't understand 99% of the words of the Arabic, but wow, I can feel it. Reading/listening the Quran has changed me in ways that no other book as ever done.
Sometimes I would be reading the English translation and would be shaking my head, "This is so wrong, this is so cruel, where is Allah's Mercy in this?" And when I listened to the exact same verse in Arabic, I can feel/understand the Mercy. It's there. Even for the really tough verses, where God is being harsh, His Mercy is in the audio of the recitation.
I can't promise you will have the same experience, but try it out and see what happens.
There's some decent research out there pointing out that the human brain went through a big change when humans created written language. When words are written down, it looks and feels so 'set in stone'. The words will never change. It greatly risks the reader's own biases. But in oral traditions (the main form of human communication for many thousands of years), it isn't 'written in stone'. It also uses a different part of the brain than written language. The orator (person speaking) will slightly alter their tone of voice, rate of speech, volume, etc...depending upon who they are speaking to. We all do this naturally. You will talk differently to your friends than you will to your parents or school teachers or a police officer. While the Quran audio recordings don't have the advantage of being live, the non-verbal messages can fill in the gaps, to add context to the essence and intention of the words.
Yes, it's one of the best. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
I'm a big advocate of free and open source apps (as well as a big advocate of not paying hidden costs like invasions of my privacy and ads and in-app purchases), so my recommendations are:
For reading the Quran (in Arabic script or transliteration or translation, I suggest Quran for Android (you can search for it on got as well if you don't want to use the play store)
If you want an easily searchable Quran for reference that uses multiple translations and text simultaneously, I'd suggest the different Quran for My Android
For prayer timings, Qibla direction and other minor features like Bukhari ahadith and dhikr and tasbeeh, I recommend Prayer Times
These are all for android, though. Not sure if they are available on Apple.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
Use that app. It has many English translations. I prefer yusuf ali or sahih international
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran This quraan has dark mode my brozzers
There's a very good Quran apps on Android with translations and transitions. Here's the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran Quran for Android. It had the feature to select a verse or a couple of verses and repeat them. Very useful for memorization.
"Quran for Android" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quran.labs.androidquran
I can download multiple translation and UI is very simple.
