On Android, you can use this app.
It doesn't integrate with the browser, it becomes the default link handler for most links.
App Redirect does a similar job, although less seamlessly. I wish it could be set as the default browser to avoid the need for interaction.
Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nevoxo.tapatalk.redirect&hl=en and then Slickdeals + AdAway works perfectly. When you press the link, select App Redirect instead of Chrome. Afterwards, it'll redirect the actual link into Chrome.
I use "App Redirect" for this.

For auto-opening links to native apps, I've been using App Redirect, it's not fully automatic as you still have to tap and hold a link and click "open with app redirect," to have it automatically pass the url to the default app installed.
For the search widget, in the latest Firefox nightly version, at the least, has a search widget. It will make its way down to beta and stable real fast, if it hasn't already.
I like Firefox a lot for the addons: desktop quality ad-blocking with ublock origin (choosing amazing filters and writing your own), dark reading mode for night time reading, and a built-in reader mode that shows a simplified page with no unnecessary page junk, only article text and article images.
Since I test Firefox for fun, I'll submit an issue about your first complaint about auto opening native apps because it's really needed, it bothers me too.
Anyway, hope maybe you'll give Firefox a try again!
This is meant to work on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nevoxo.tapatalk.redirect
Maybe app redirect can help you?
