A hidden gem of a game is called Archmage. It's a card game similar to a simplified version of Magic: The Gathering.
It's based off of Acromage from M&MVII.
You build your deck and play others in multiplayer. When you win a game by destroying their tower or building up yours to 120, you get in-game "coins" that you can use to increase your tower, wall, and get even better cards to customize your deck.
I've been playing the multiplayer game Archmage for years!
It holds my attention because you can customize your deck (like Magic: The Gathering card game) and play other players. Lots of replayability.
A multiplayer game in which you progress through winning battles, getting in-game coins to use toward building up your tower, wall, and, most importantly, customizing your deck (ala Magic: The Gathering) is called Archmage.
Games usually take between 5-20 minutes and one of the best parts is that it is multiplayer and very competitive!
A TCG game in which the community is making a come back since the developer fixed a major bug is called Archmage
Archmage is not unlike a simplified Magic the Gathering in which games go much more quickly. You can customize your deck as well as build up your wall, tower, and resources. As you win matches, you receive coins to use to get those customizations.
Archmage lite is free on the Play Store with ads or you can get the $.99 for no ads.
While the online chat in the game tends to have more Russians, the amount of players and community is slowly returning. Admittedly, activity on the message boards on the website have a long way to go. The mechanics and strategy of the game are very fun especially because you can customize your deck (in multiplayer and don't forget to save it.)
As long as you can get a bit of a signal every other minute or so, you should be ok playing Archmage. After your move, your opponent gets 1 minute to take his turn and then you get 1 minute to take your turn. That time should allow for a lower connection speed that is even unstable occasionally.
The game itself is quick and fun but can get very addicting once you start customizing your deck (multiplayer mode).

Very similar to arcomage. A bit too easy though.
