There's a BGG app that will sync your collection and plays to your account... It's a little fiddly at times but does the job quite nicely.
I've tried it and I really like the idea, but I'll continue using the BGG4Android app.
If I think it's really that important, you often find more specialized apps (e.g. 7 Wonders Score Sheet).
If it's not that important, the BGG comment field is enough to log some additional information.
Plus: BGG4Android is completely free [well, I donated to the developer anyway...]
Check out the boardgamegeek Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boardgamegeek
I've been using it for months; it's far easier and nicer than using the website to enter the info.
I don't think it covers everything you want but it's a good stopgap.
Well I never pay money for any of my board game adjacent apps (other that official digital implementations).
The Unofficial Board Game Geek app is good enough for logging plays since none of the other ones offer features I care about (I don't log game scores consistently).
I use KeepScore to keep score. It is simple, quick to use, and has nice, chunky buttons.
I use several apps that create random setups for games. The best of these claim that they pick setups that have a particular balance.
Challonge is good enough at running tournaments and if I was to pay for something, it would be them since I use the site to participate in online tourneys.
I already find plenty of game groups via Meetup.com. I am not sure what an app could offer. Maybe one that ran local events for games I like to play.
What I would buy:
I would love an app could browse my BGG forum subscriptions (and donated part of the revenue back to the site).
I would pay for a co-op DM app, but only if it actually understood game state, made somewhat smart decisions, and was not drawing random monsters from a cup and drawing random behavior from a deck (I am looking at you, Mansions of Madness). A nice additional feature could be automatically adjusting difficulty.
Android has this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boardgamegeek&hl=en
The Dev is always working on improving it but has been working pretty flawlessly for the full 1.5 years I've been using it!
EDIT/ People are speaking of BG Stats a lot too but I like the app linked better. the synchronisation with boardgamegeek is much better and you have more filter options on your plays/collection and other. It has a lot more stats tho, that's why I keep it around just to look at all the nice stats it displays!
J'utilise l'app BGG pour Android pour noter mes parties. Voici à quoi j'ai joué ce mois-ci. Ça été un très bon mois, un total de 39 parties!
Jeux | Nb parties |
---|---|
Carcassonne | 7 |
Sushi Go! | 7 |
Takenoko | 4 |
Tokaido | 4 |
The Castles of Burgundy | 3 |
Dominion | 3 |
Splendor | 3 |
Dominion: Prosperity | 2 |
King of New York | 2 |
Ticket to Ride: Europe | 2 |
Jaipur | 1 |
Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island | 1 |
I have the BGG app on Android. It tracks H-index, dimes/quarters, imports data to BGG. Other things it can track: location, length, quantity, incomplete, players, comments, win stats. And it's a breeze to sort by player count, game length, etc to help choose a game to play! I believe it's free, but the downside is that it can be hard to use to log a play of a game not in your owned collection.
:) Yes most of our game are in French as we're both french speaker. But we have more than a few in english when it doesn't exist in french and Agricola is the german edition as the French is out of print since a long time it seems.
I use the website www.boardgamegeek.com both for my collection and my plays; on Android there's a rad app also named BoardGameGeek which allows you to visualize and edit the data you've entered on the website.
If you're on Android i suggest bgg4android. If you're on ios i believe the best is considered to be board game stats
I was using it for a while and after the recent update the BGG syncing was not working anymore. I switched to BoardGameGeek instead and it works really well.
I use the boardgamegeek app, but Scorepal is the runner up if BGG ever goes the way of the dodo.
this one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boardgamegeek&hl=en
It works fantasticly... at least for tracking plays, which is the only thing I use it for. Have you tried it recently? It got an overhaul like 2-3 months ago.
They have a BGG app for Android that works extremely well:

Here's my android list of companion apps:
BoardGameGeek - I mostly just use this to log my plays.
Chess Clock - I haven't actually used this one but this looks like a pretty straight forward chess clock that I plan on using when I game during my lunch hour to keep the games on pace.
Chwazi - Pick the first player, order of players, or teams.
Life Counter - Life tracker for games like Star Realms and Dice Masters that lack a good way to track. One of the best ones out there that is simple and adfree.
And then there are the companion apps to go along with specific games. Alchemists, Codenames, Mage Knight Dummy.
Honorable mentions are your favorite sms/phone/social media (to communicate and organize), your favorite calendar app (to not miss game night) and your carryout/delivery app (mmmm food).
If you have Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boardgamegeek&hl=en
BoardGameGeek on Android.
Yep, BGG for keeping track of what I have in my collection. Either the android app, or something like gameshelf.se are good for viewing.
Even a permalink to a thumbnail gallery of your collection direct on BGG seems OK.
I use this app:

What about the free unofficial BGG app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boardgamegeek
I have this one, and I love it.
Just the unofficial bgg app.
I use this to log my plays. You can't manage your collection, though.
I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boardgamegeek to keep track of my plays.
I use this on Android to log all my plays.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boardgamegeek
I like the BGG app since all my stats, games, wishlist and ratings are on BGG.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boardgamegeek This app does that. It save the player if you log multiple play the same day.
