We are all lazy from the nature. Just exercise your will-power and you will become better at self-control.

- set yourself:
-- very nice award - for doing the task
-- punishment - for not doing (procrastinating)
- start doing the task and parallelly reward or punish yourself ;]

Assume I have to do boring task.
To motivate myself towrads this task I set "an award" for working on it.
Award is eg. shopping in mall center worth 100 USD.

Clear list of goals/tasks/... is great but IMO it will not fix your core problems. People naturally have tendency for lazing or being easy distracted. These will not disappear because of "clear list of goals".
I recommend you tasks booster based on rewards (for work) and punishments (for lazing). Maybe this method can motivate you to better work. Try it here

According to better focus: many people here use Pomodore tech. For me it was not working, I recommend task booster.
80% productivity tips have zero value. Maybe they can somehow inspire, very slightly hint you but it's margnial.
Core solution to "get things done" is just by doing these things.

Set yourself an award - sth you very, very want to have.
Then say yourself: ok, if I spent 100h on studing I can get "this award".
Now start studing and parallely monitor time spent on studing.
After 100h - get your desired award! Simple ;]

pomodoro is ok but has HUGE drawback: you divide work on 25 mins runs
but in REAL life work length vary:
* sometimes it's 10 mins after which you MUST take a break
* other time you keep focus for 1h and still you can continue

I had similar problem but with wasting time on browsing net.
Solution in short: reward yourself for not using Imgur, "punish" for using it.
How to do it: [details adopt to by your life ;]
- monitor time spent on Imgur
- charge yourself 1 USD for each minute of using Imgur
- assume daily you have new 15 USD for using Imgur
- what you not use from 15 USD -> goes to 'saving for new smart watch'
- what you exceed over 15 -> you repay from 'saving for new smart watch'
If you have Android you can automate this flow with this app.

finally created my own productivity system
it's not perfect - eg. it's not robot which substitute you in your job - you still must do "the work" ;]]]

I also monitor my 'real pure work time' and it is usually about 4.5h of work per 8h of office stay. In bad days it's much less.
