I can't really remember everything, but the situation was this - our app (like TT's own) would let a user add all the various TT-based forums they were members off, and then be able to switch between them to read/post at will.
IIRC, what happened was that a few months into development, and with the beta out there and getting decent feedback, TT changed the terms and conditions of their API, and one thing they changed was that to be allowed to use the API, you could not develop for a forum you didn't own yourself. Which pretty much left us dead in the water, since the whole point was to be a single hub app for multiple forums.
If you want to see an example of how that app worked/looked, you could try the DAFC.net app in the Playstore - that's not TT-related, it's a bespoke forum for a football (soccer) team in Scotland, Dunfermline Athletic.
The dot.net app was the basis for the new TT one (called Yak) but it never came to be. For its fairly small target audience though the dot.net app is highly regarded.
