Every British General Election, there is a traditional race between two parts of Sunderland to be the first to announce the results for their area. From this, the idea behind Duckton Declares! was born. The game places players into the role of a vote counter from 'Duckton North' and tasks them with counting 100 or 1000 ballots (depending on the mode they select) as quickly and accurately as possible, which is done by simply dragging and dropping ballots onto the current pile for that candidate, so that their result is declared before 'Duckton South'. In order to win, players have to count the votes within the time limit given for the mode and with less than 2% of votes miscounted, with time penalties also given for miscounted votes.
The game was released for web browsers around two months ago, with a port to Android released last Friday. Both the GameJolt web version and Android version contain online leaderboards, allowing players to compete against their friends and the rest of the world for the title of fastest vote counter.
