Yes exactly, it is the Dungeon Rush published by DH Games. And I totally get your point since it was the same for me: I tried Dungeon Rush before Idle Heroes, didn't like it and moved on to Idle Heroes. But after giving it a second try, I realized that I just didn't get all of the mechanics in the short time that I tried it. Give it another try and progress a little bit till you also get to pvp stuff and so on. The battle mechanism is not really that different though, just for everything pve it looks different since you don't always fight a group of 6 like in Idle Heroes but sometimes even multiple waves of enemies. For Pvp it is actually the same mechanism in both games.
If you want to see where Idle Heroes copied from Dungeon Rush just read the names of the champions in both games and you will see that 80% of them have the exact same name and almost even the same look :D
A lot of people are telling you to just play an entire different genre of games when that isn't your question.
For me I generally just play many of them at the same time and when my luck isn't working out or I get bored of it I just stop playing and possibly come back to it weeks or months later.
I am personally enjoying EZPZ RPG and Dungeon Rush. They are similar to the games you are talking about but they don't require you to log in constantly to use all the stamina. They play themselves while you are logged off and you just hop in to manage gear and leveling of characters.
They scratch my itch for character progression and hero collecting.

Thanks, I try :D I used to play Dungeon Rush of which this game seems to have copied a lot of ideas.
