I worked on a reading app for kids, and in researching the competition two standouts for me were Endless Alphabet (says it's free, but it's $8.99 if you want to unlock the real content) and basically anything by Toca Boca (most of their games cost $2.99).
Seriously, Endless Reader is the best game you can get. Cost a bit, but it's worth it.
Edit - Scratch that, the whole endless series of great. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.originatorkids.EndlessAlphabet
I can't speak for OP but my kids loved Endless Alphabet and a few of the others by the same developer. My 5 year old went into 4k ahead of most of the other kids because he always knew the whole alphabet and the sounds the make while my 2 year old is beginning to learn as well.
I loved endless alphabet for my littles, there are several versions of it for reading/math/shapes ect, all have a free version and you can purchase additional words/shapes/ect https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.originatorkids.EndlessAlphabet
My 2 year old knows her alphabet around 95% and is demonstrating phonics knowledge. With some work she'll probably be reading by the time she's three. She loves books and is extremely motivated to learn. One app we've been using for phonics, that she loves is called Endless Alphabet.
~~I don't find early reading to be that exceptional, but all the children I've taught and my friends' kids who read early were all from cultures and backgrounds that place high values on education and spent a lot of time working with their kids. It seems to me it would be extremely difficult to suss out the nature from the nurture in this case.~~

Edit: My opinions are garbage
Not gonna lie I had forgotten I even made this post lol. I'm glad I reread it tho, it was good to think about what he was like back then to now. Funny enough my son is 5 now and about to start Kindergarten next week. As far as is journey goes...
He was in speech therapy until he was 3 when he aged out of the program. I wanted to get him into a pre-school as I did with my elder two kids, I thought that being around kids his age all day would help him speech and his therapist agreed with me. Unfortunately that was about the same time that Covid hit my area hard and everyone went into lockdown. Even after that I still didn't send him just out of Covid fears because many in my city were not taking masking or vaccines seriously, I kept my older two in virtual school as well. So he hasn't had any professional help for the last two years.
Well now he's had all his shots and is about to start real school. I have talked with them about the possibility of having a speech therapist work with him in school again but I haven't heard back about it yet. BUT his speech is doing MUCH better even with the two year gap of not having services or being around kids besides his brothers.
At his 5 year check up his doctor said that she could understand him perfectly fine when he was talking to her. He still have trouble with some sounds. He can't seem to make the 'la' or or 'ga' sounds. He realizes that he can't pronounce them and alot of the time with just say no when you ask him to. But he does replace them with other sounds so you can still fairly well understand him. I'm hoping that I can get him some more help so that in a few years he'll be talking normally, more so than now anyway.
So long story short, he is much better than he was and I'm not anywhere near as worried for him as I was two years ago. You're little one will be fine too I'm sure, it just looks alot scarier in the beginning than it needs to be trust me.
ALSO I just remembered! An app that I think really helped him to sound things out. I'm very glad that I went ahead and bought it so it may help you? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.originatorkids.EndlessAlphabet&hl=en\_US
