Evo Explores (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stampedegames.evoexplores), a puzzler very much in the style of Monument Valley, not as obsessively beautiful, but with new, trickier puzzles and game mechanics.
If you really like Monument Valley (I do), you might enjoy Evo Explores.

It's not as beautiful, perhaps, but it introduced some new game mechanics, and I still enjoy re-playing it in the same way I enjoy re-playing MV 1 and 2.
Evo Explores is similar. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stampedegames.evoexplores
If you wanted a closer mechanic to monument Valley these three are excellent Evo Explores, Back to Bed , Dream Machine.
But if you were just looking for more low poly games there's quite a few more.
Lighthouse, The Path to Luma, The Adventures of Poco Eco
But if you just wanted some great puzzle games then I have some for that too.
Thomas was Alone, Limbo, Machinarium, Lost Journey , A Good Snowman, World of Goo

Have you tried Evo Explores (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stampedegames.evoexplores), Epic Journey (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.epicjourney.partone), Daregon (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.daregon.daregon), Skyward (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ketchapp.skyward) or Odie's Diemnsion (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Company.Odie)? Most of them are straigh up clones (or rip-off) from MV, but often offer sme new interesting mechanics. The most convoluted so far is Where Shadows Slumber (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gamerevenant.whereshadowsslumber) - story-wise, I am sure you have never seen anything like it before.

> In Evo Explores you should trust your eyes. If something looks real - it is real! If you don’t see a problem - there is no problem at all. Manipulate impossible surreal structures, explore optical illusions ...

BTW, I didn't find Art of Gravity, Strata, or Disassembler. Can you point me to them?

Recommendations I really liked
EVO Explores: Thanks for the tip on EVO Explores. this looks great and well worth my Google Rewards bucks.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stampedegames.evoexplores

Hook: another one that he should be able to figure out.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rt.hook

Up Left Out: also on the to try list
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rt.upleftout

Scalak will be interesting to see if he can solve these. Seem fairly complicated
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hamsteroncoke.scalak

Klocki: will be on my list to try later
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.klockigame.klocki

Ones I'm not as sure about
Warp Shift: another one that seems like it'll be too involved for him to solve just yet
Mekorama: seems like it might be too timing heavy for my kid to solve just yet. THOSE were the hardest MV puzzles to solve
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.martinmagni.mekorama

Push: I watched the video and i'm still not sure WTF I was looking at. How exactly is this a puzzle?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rainbowtrain.push

Lyne: pattern matching.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thomasbowker.lynerelease

Kensho: agree that this will be tough for him
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fiftytwo.kensho_android

Roofbot: I think the fact that you can "lose" by trapping yourself or getting in to a stuck position will be too frustrating at his age
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doublecoconut.roofbot

Kami 2 (only one I found by "State of Play"): the whole "finish the puzzle in as few moves as possible" might be tough for someone who hasn't gotten to the point of making intuitive leaps just yet.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stateofplaygames.kami2

Quell: Seems like a move counting game.

Thanks for these suggestions: they do seem a bit more puzzle like vs exploratory ("knobs are obvious" vs "find the knob") which is probably good for my kid at this point.

Well I don't think there are upgrades in most of these following suggestions but, they are some pretty damn good puzzle games. A few are point and click adventure games tho, which might be different than what you're looking for but I include them cos I like 'em.
Linkme: the room 1, the room 2, the last door 2, little inferno, realmyst, journey of haha, Machinarium, road not taken, monsters ate my birthday cake, concrete jungle.

You can also side load Tiny Thief, an adorable and well made, but sadly removed, puzzle adventure game. I'm super stoked Love You To Bits is getting closer to an Android release. It's developed by part of the Tiny Thief game and has a similar art style.

Adding Causality
Try out this game. To me it seems like a sequel, and just as high quality as the original: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stampedegames.evoexplores
Yeah, we did it! Evo Explores is now available on Android! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stampedegames.evoexplores
