If you have an android phone you should check out First Ascent app. It has 157 topos in santee boulders, all with geo location so it should be very easy to find the routes.

iOS version is currently in beta so pm me for beta access if you wish :)
My best bet would be Mt. Woodson for crack climbing but If you looking for climbing near San Diego there is an app that has plenty of climbs around this area (and other areas in california as well, SF area is extremely well documented too if you decide to travel further up north). I've been using it and I really enjoy it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfirstascent
For bouldering I would recommend Tramway or Black Mountain this part of the year. If you want to climb some taller walls Mammoth Lake or Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite, its much cooler than the Valley.
If you need free topos you can check out First Ascent app. It has hundreds of problems in Tram, and Black Mountain. here is the link to android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfirstascent and iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/first-ascent-rock-climbing-guide/id1224456438?mt=8

If you have an android phone you could check out First Ascent app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfirstascent It has quite a few problems near that area and it is the best guide out there to Santee boulders which is the closet Bouldering spot to downtown San Diego I believe.
Mt. Woodson; Santee Boulders; Misson George;
If you need topo and location information I would recommend First Ascent App. It has by far the best data for San Diego area. You can get it here:

I don't know where you could get a guidebook, but you could try First Ascent Climbing Guide App ... it has over 500 boulder problems with topos and gps locations in Tram. Its a climbing guide that currently has 1700+ free routes mostly in california.
It has picture and location for ALL of the routes and topo drawing for overwhelming majority of it. It is very easy to add routes to it, you simply take a photo and give it a name the app takes care of the rest. Android version has an ability to download routes offline and keep a ticklist of your sends as well as share them with your friends. These features will be added to iOS version shortly.
You can check out screenshots and longer description on the playstore page. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfirstascent
If you have an android phone you should check out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfirstascent Its an app that has free topos for quite a few problems in the bay area. And it has gps location for all of them! ~250 boulder problems in the bay.
If you guys have an android phone this might be a cheaper alternative: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfirstascent It will navigate you straight to the climbs so its super nice to use. :) There isnt tons of sports in the app but its enough to keep busy for a day or two. You might have to download some routes before the park because there is no service but you get some free downloads. (I suggest filtering the routes that are 4-5 stars for best results)
If you have an android phone and want to contribute back to climbing community I would recommend this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfirstascent I dont think there are any climbs in Tennessee yet but its starting to grow towards the east coat. I live in the west coast and I love this app. :) But I guess for now i would try to find someone in the the gym that is willing to take you climbing outdoors. I didnt have any gear first couple of times but there are nice people everywhere! just talk to people in your gym :)
San Diego also has some pretty awesome local crags. Woodson and Santee boulders both have their charms and are pretty well documented on the First Ascent App. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfirstascent&hl=en (App has climbs all over california :D )
