He might like a bubble shooter game, especially if he likes the color app you have.
A good open source one is Frozen Bubble: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jfedor.frozenbubble
But there are a lot of other ones too.
I think that game is a clone of Frozen Bubble. This one is opensource software, so its not likely to so anything bad (I played the original version in a PC), this port isn't official but is listed on the original developer site.

This is also on F-Droid if you want to get it there.
This is open source, and about as classic as you can get.
No ads and free.
Edit for F-Droid link:

Frozen Bubble is pretty fun if you're looking for a bubble bobble clone on android. It's a port of the open source game.
Pinout is pretty solid for a pinball game, and it's free unless you want to play without starting over.
Sega Forever has a couple free older sega games and will probably update with more.

Also Pinout has minigames you can access while playing (although I kinda wish there was a minigame gallery so you could easily replay them.)
Frozen Bubble is great, it's open source so no IAP or ads of any kind are present. There is also a nice arcade mode.
