What are Reddit's favorite android apps in the category game word?

SpaceTeam was mentioned by someone, but it needs description. It's a same room multiplayer game where you all link up via Bluetooth or wifi. On everyone's screen is a spaceship control panel.

Your spaceship is falling apart. The only thing that can keep that from happening us if everyone follows the instructions popping up on the screen "flip the twibber switch", "turn the balance knob", etc...

The instructions that pop up on your screen might not apply to your controls though, so you have to tell the people on your team to do the thing.

It devolves into frantic yelling obscure instructions at each other and is hilarious fun, especially with more than two people.

You might already have the paid version if you've been buying the humble bundles for Android.

SpaceTeam! Perhaps the best multiplayer mobile games I've played. You play as the crew of a spaceship, and your screen flashes instructions for other players. Basically devolves into the whole group shouting technobabble. It's a blast.

Iirc I found this on Reddit, but I can't recommend it enough.

It's a game where you make words from given letters, with some multipliers. It is free, and can be played offline(you can play some games before you need to go online to download more).

It's good for quick games, but also for passing long amounts of time. It also makes me feel a bit better about myself after playing, since I usually learn new words.

Spaceteam is co-op game that places 2-4 players in control of a ship in a constant state of disaster. The game will tell you to turn, twist, and press all kinds of doo-hickeys, but many of them will be on your partner's screen.

From a design perspective I really liked several things you showed off in that video. The first room has great decor and scene setting (showing the blueprints, two protagonists), and you return to it a couple of times like a home base, instead of a simple linear progression. The red alarm lights are great, I loved how the gung-ho player set it off and the others called him back to look at the screen. Simultaneous actions required by players in different locations, amazing, and software UI looks great! I guess you've played Spaceteam? Even though essentially that pyramid is the final 'key' it feels like a positive thing to get the prize rather than the objective being to avoid a negative thing that most escape rooms have. Collaborative puzzle solving with the concentric rings, getting everyone to join in.

What kind of budget does it take for the set-up in the video? Aren't there eye injury risks using lasers, or are they just infrared?

Just as an idea, it'd be cool to give the players the choice at the end to follow Giles Pemberton's legacy or support the resistance. Everyone likes multiple endings to their games.

Small PSA: please remember professionalism includes accessibility; as cool as it is, I'd worry that the final puzzle might not be accessible to players who have poor hearing. And for check online how colours look to different types of colourblindess. The whole playing area was flat which is cool but maybe some items are a bit high for kids and wheelchair users. I know stuff like this can be a pain and seem limiting, but you'll make someone's day if they feel included. Plus operators can advertise as being accessible which is good for family groups.

Reminds me of Spaceteam. Great game if you have three friends that you want to yell random babbling instructions at to help them get the ship to safety.

Evil Apples. Its a good game but its one of those shitty pay-to-play games. When it comes to mobile CAH, I prefer Cards For Humanity.

I know some games that aren't just supposed to be fun, they are fun while also being really stressful.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes can be extremely stressful. The game does a good job of building tension with rising music, flashing lights, and the ever-present ticking clock.

Spaceteam is also a game like that. I like to call it a "collaborative shouting game." It's very chaotic and frantic- in a good way! But I'm pretty sure it's also given at least one of my friends a panic attack.

Maybe someone knows of some better ones, but I've played this one (or one of the numerous clones of it, I'm not sure), and it was pretty fun.

Oh man, there's another game just like this for phones and tablets. You connect with a friend on their phone, and you both read nonsense directions to each other, while performing their directions.

Except instead of a bomb, you're both on a spaceship, trying to manage its systems so you can escape a star going supernova. One of the twists is that sometimes the direction you read is for your part of the ship, and other times, it's for your partner's part of the ship, so you need to communicate effectively or else you lose. It gets really intense when it gets faster, and it's extremely fun when you're drinking at a friend's house.

Space Team is a personal favorite with my friends and I. However, you do end up being "that group" of people in line. You tend to get very loud when playing, and no one around you will have any clue what you're doing so you're going to get very odd looks.

I was trying out a new tablet one afternoon and decided to fire up Spaceteam on it and my phone. Right as the game started my housemate walked in. I handed him the tablet and told him his first command. He was playing within seconds and we saved the ship for a few rounds.

So... really out of all the games I think I got like 5 that I hadn't played before. And really just Transformers: Devastation was the only one I'd call a full title. I mean I like Letter Quest but it's basically a frigging mobile game I could've just played on my phone. Oh wait, it is.

Honestly, this year was kinda shite for it. I mean I got a few PS3 games I'd have probably tried, but my PS3 isn't even hooked up anymore and last time I tried to play a PS3 title from the IGC it was Dishonored and I instantly remembered "wait you have this on PC, dum dum".

I think what I got more out of PS+ was discounts. I bought a bunch of digital games this year, and I think if I added up the discounts off the listed price I might maybe have re-couped the cost PS+.

I don't even really play MP games so the IGC is one of the only reasons I even pay for this stupid thing. And now that they've jacked up the price who knows if I'll keep it up. There isn't a library of games here that I care about losing.

I feel the hardest part here would be a card game that doesn't need a table and/or can be played standing up. I'd love to know if any games that hit that restriction exist.

Absolutely, but mostly within certain genres. Puzzles and word games, for example, are a good place to look. My favorite F2P word game is actually my favorite mobile word game of all time--Wordiest. It's got unobtrusive ads and a one-time payment to remove them as the only IAP. It's also incredibly fun, and features a snappy interface.

It's basically the best form of solitaire scrabble ever, with a little competitive twist--when you submit your words, you see how other people did with that same tile set. And if you had the top score, you get a satisfying animation. I literally have nothing bad to say about this game.

Feedback from Galaxy S10, Android 11:

• BUTTON HITBOXES ARE TOO FAR RIGHT. This applies to difficulty selectors on the menu, selecting numbers, every button. Tapping the left half does nothing, you have to tap the right half, or slightly off to the right. This is by far the biggest issue.
• Bottom advert overlaps clear and submit buttons slightly.
• No pause button (although if I go to app switcher I can pause the timer and view the puzzle!).
• After a game, I pressed "Home" and this opened an ad. This is awful.
• No on-screen button to exit a game except by failing in arcade or succeeding in casual.

The core idea is interesting, but the button hitboxes absolutely needs fixing. Once that's fixed, I could see the core gameplay being fun.

Ideally there'd also be some kind of progression, whether that is leaderboards, XP and levels, unlocking new themes, etc.

Check out Wordiest for my favourite "optional multiplayer" implementation ever.

Take a look at something like Bonza for a bit of an example of how you could monetise your puzzle content without being overly aggressive.

Id recommend this app IOS, android There is no custom deck support but there is plenty of deck expansions available in game.

Legal heads-up (dis: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wb.headsup&amp;hl=en_GB) was a lot of fun, we would have the case name and we would give the legal principle for the case. So I'd say to make games out of studying so that it doesn't feel as heavy.

This might not be exactly what you are looking for, but SpaceTeam is a lot of fun to play with a group of people. You can have between two to eight players using local multiplayer.

Your group is flying a spaceship that constantly about to explode. Each player gets a set of random ship controls that are unique to them. Then different messages pop up on different player's screens that will say things like "turn off the flumoxer," but the person that gets the message probably won't have that control. So you have to yell to their your team to find that control before it blows up.

It starts out slow and manageable, then turns into a crazy shouting experience as things aren't flipped or turned in time and everything starts to blow up.

All the controls have silly techno-babble names and the whole thing is quite a fun party type game.

If you wanted to make it crazier, do something like two competing teams of 2+ players each with their own ship. Then add in real world distractions like throwing pillows at the other side.

There's a game out there called SpaceTeam, in which you have to shout instructions to friends in order to avoid dying.

In a nutshell: Word games can be violent.

"BAIKOH", is a violent and fast paced word game, where you have to destroy letter tiles by typing words to prevent them from reaching the top. It offers a classic arcade feel that mixes elements from Scrabble and Tetris Attack, with a sense of humor.

YES! We play Minecraft on pretty much every bus ride, and play Age of Empires II in the hotel rooms. In the past we've also played Civ IV on bus rides as well. Several of our students and mentors have also played Spaceteam together.

In general, we tend to play a lot of games in which we can do local multiplayer.

Headbandz is good - someone hold the phone and people give clues (verbal and other) about the thing, and the person has to guess what it is.

Just Dance Now is great if you have a Chromecast - hold your phone and follow the on-screen dancer.

I love board games, but never find the time to actually sit down and play them. Apps like Wordfeud make it possible to play Scrabble in different languages with people all over the world. You can chat while playing, so you might even find someone who would like to go to the Outpost and play a real game of Scrabble!

I like the rankings in Wordiest. After every round your score is compared to everyone else and your position is shown in a scatter plot.

I have an android word game (shameless plug: Wordiest).

I generated my own letter frequencies based on both all English words in the SOWPODS dictionary, which are quite similar to frequencies used in Scrabble and Words With Friends.

When I generate matches I discard sets where the vowel ratio is too low or too high, or those with too many repeats of the same letter. I also do a brute force test checking that at least N "basic" words are there, with "basic" words extracted from Seinfeld and Simpsons transcripts.

If all those tests pass I'm confident users of even lower skill levels will have a fun match.

Wordsfued is really great, pretty much scrabble, it's not pay to win or has a ton of ads, and a low upfront cost to remove those few ads. It also has dark mode which many other games in this category don't have. Overall can highly recommend it.

Pra cada um, aparecem alguns botões para fazer as coisas da nave, por exemplo: ligar os motores, regular o aquecimento, acoplar válvula...

E também aparece uma tarefa que precisa ser feita. Porém, o que precisa ser feito aparece pra uma pessoa, e o botão para fazer a tarefa está sempre na tela de outra.

Basicamente, você precisa falar o que os outros tem que fazer e prestar atenção nos que os outros falam e procurar se está na sua tela. Isso tudo ao mesmo tempo. Se demorar muito, a nave explode.

My favourite is Wordiest, it's fantastic. Don't recall it having ads (or if it does, they are totally unobtrusive). And you can play offline so it's great for the tube/subway/metro or on flights when you don't have mobile signal.

You Don't Know Jack und Drawful / Jackbox Party Pack etc. Wenn ihr beide gut Englisch könnt, so als "Partyspiel" zwischendurch. Vorteil: gesteuert wird mit Handy.

Wenn ihr euch mit den controllern abwechseln könnt: Talos Principle. Gemeinsam knobeln kann schöner sein als alleine.

Ok so this is not a PC co-op but someday you 2 should definitely play Space Team (android) together, it's kinda like a board game in that you just learn the rules really quick and a timer counts down while you try to shout silly words to each other to repair a broken space ship, it's so fun!

A great word game I recommend is called Wordiest

You get 14 scrabble like tiles with point and bonus point values to make two words with the highest possible point score. When you submit your answer it ranks your score against the most recent 100 others with those tile trays. IAP to remove a small innocuous banner ad at the top of the screen which isn't in the way as all.

If you don't like all the zynga rubbish and just want a scrabble that works well and runs on older devices, check out Wordfeud instead.

I'm worried that if you're playing remotely, then you won't get as much personal interaction. If you REALLY want to connect, you need to be physically near her so that you can properly chat.

Have you considered looking into any board games? They work beautifully on a tablet if you get the right pass-and-play games. I also enjoyed stuff like Space Team.

Heads Up! is fun a game to play while drinking, but not necessarily a drinking game. However, you could definitely add some house rules to the game modes to give them a more drinking feel. For example, you have to drink every time your teammate skips a question or the losers of the round have to chug.

I like Wordiest where you make two words from fourteen letters and compete against other people's scores for the same letters to improve your ranking. The results plot is great.

Try Wordiest, if you haven't already. There's no timer so it's much more relaxed, and really thinking about how you can best use the letters and any of their bonuses to improve your score tends to reward you with a higher place against the other players. It's quite different to Alphabear, but in the end you're still just trying to turn a bunch of letters into a word.

Spaceteam is a good party type game with Bluetooth multiplayer. You have to able to shout, preferably, or at least talk. So not good in like a library setting.

Spaceteam is amazingly stupid and fun if you have friends to play it with. I got it via humble bundle. For some reason, the store version sometimes claims incompatibility with compatible devices, but otherwise it's wonderful. Bear in mind, this one can't be played solo.

This game reminds me of the app Spaceteam, which is actually loads of with several local players, each with their own device to play it on.

There's also a mobile version called Evil Apples on Android and iOS. Only ever played on Android, but it's pretty good. Xyzzy is a little easier for fast games though.

If you like word games, then I can't recommend Wordiest highly enough, although there may not be enough of a gamey-wrapping like there is with Puzzle Forge and Highrise Heroes.

There's a similar game on Android and iOS called "Spaceteam". It works over bluetooth and WiFi, pretty cool.

You'll have a teammate tell you "Quick, discharge the clip-jawed fluxtrunions!", and then you have to find the switch labelled "discharge" under the clip-jawed fluxtrunions panel. And if you take too long, the space ship starts to fall apart.

Space Team is always a good laugh. Everyone has a control panel with a few random controls, and you receive instructions which may or may not be for you. For example, you could receive "set the Technothrostle to 3". You have to get whoever can control the Technothrostle to set it to 3, which is usually by yelling in their face repeatedly.

Space Team for iOS and Android. It is the best party game around.
