I used to use Glypher. It has a built in "simulation mode" that pretty accurately mimics the glyph sequences in-game. You can also tweak the sensitivity of the touch areas, meaning you have to be more precise with your glyphing for it to count.
Don't use overlays for glyphing. Use an app like Glypher to practice glyphing, and actually learn the phrases. The overlays are crutches.
A lot of good ones in here, but I'll throw this one out there: Glypher
It's helped me to get to Gold on the Glyph rune. Only way to get better at glyphing is to practice and this app helps you do just that.
I try to recognise them by meaning, and most of the time it is easy to construct a sentence. If I am not mistaken, the glyphs in your example are "War", "Create", and "Danger" - this gives me an easy sentence: war creates danger. Rarely, I will not know the meaning of one of the three, but I can easily focus on the shape of that one whilst using the meaning to recall the other two.
As for the meanings, I use an app called Glypher and literally just go through them again and again.
On iOS: "Glyph Mastery", https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/glyph-mastery/id903701519?mt=8
On Android: "Glypher": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dmidroid.ingress.glyphs&hl=en
will help you get better. It took me until about level 7 I think to start getting consistent with them.
Learn the glyphs. It is so much easier if the symbols are associated to words.
Here's a reference: http://glyphtionary.com/ but that didn't really do much for me because one of the fun things about glyphs is that opposite words are on opposite sides of the grid. For example: "Attack" is the big triangle pointing away from you, "Defend" is a big V, or big triangle pointing towards you. When you start noticing those, you'll have learned 2 glyphs in one go. :-)
For iOS there is "Glyphs" and "Glyph Dictionary" to practice on. I'm sure there are similar apps for Android. Glypher seems to fit the bill.
There is a game to help with memory on Google Play. There is probably something similar for iPhone. I am just starting to glyph hack myself and it's rough :/
The full chart is nice, and the original source also has handy tips, such as glyph pairs, how to draw the imperfect glyph, and is sortable by the number of glyphs in a sequence: http://www.ingress.tv/glyphs.html.

Stop using a glyph predictor, and learn the glyphs. Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dmidroid.ingress.glyphs between actual hacks to practice.
When I'm bored, I open up glypher & use it for a little bit.
It takes practice, that's for sure. There's apps available for practicing sequences, I recommend Glypher
