Elevator Pitch: Propose an event for others to join by filling in the blank to the question: “Anyone up for _____?” Connect online and socialize first, before meeting offline in a group. Get a sense for each Iceberger’s compatibility by checking their “social quotient” score, left by previous Icebergers in events they joined. Designed with a focus on total platform safety (online and offline) to help you discover those you’re destined to meet.
More details: PermaGO’s Iceberg® is officially in public beta, with a complete, sophisticated social network built from scratch, and have transitioned to being mobile-first with both of our iOS and Android apps. Version 2 of Android is available now, whereas we are awaiting approval for iOS. We’re a small team of 3 founders, and 2 developers. Each of us has a unique skills-set that none of the others can emulate, like the ninja turtles. We each strive to do our absolute best with the team focused on delivering quality in every aspect of development.
Are you looking for anything? On behalf of the entire team, from the bottom of our hearts, if we can get critical feedback, that would really really help. We want to build this community along with Redditors because I cannot tell you guys how much time I’ve “invested” into Reddit to make sure that you guys would have a usage for this. It’s a bit of a high-concept platform but I have no doubt that the Reddit community will get it if you guys could just give it a chance. Feedback is the number 1 thing we’re looking for; more than money or anything else, so I would be so grateful to the community if you guys and gals would join someone's event, or propose your own event and let others join to see how you like it. It’s very difficult to assess just how intelligent the software is just by downloading and checking out a few screens so I would say give it a shot, you have nothing to lose. Personally, I went through a hellish ordeal with being stalked so the number one thing we built into the Iceberg experience is centered around the idea of total safety, security, and privacy. The “Social Quotient” metric system is being revamped for fairness, and will be completed by week’s end, but if you look into it, it really gives you an idea of whether or not the person that just joined your event is a cool person, or a complete douche. Having run many hostels in my life, and conversing with thousands of travelers, I am confident my team and I have designed the ultimate system for travelers to meet other travelers. If you do not agree, please tell me why as I would be eternally grateful to have your help in improving this until this is true.
Discount for /r/startup[2] subscribers? In our first beta version, users were only able to communicate inside a EVENT CARD. If you wanted to talk to a specific Iceberger individually, you had to have a “Premium” account to open a chat line. If the other person accepted your chat line, only then could you chat with them. These chat lines end automatically after a week so if the conversation is stale, don’t worry, there’s an end in sight. Anyway, with the latest version, we’ve made it 100% free, so the experience is just great. Having said that, no, there’s no discount, but I’ll tell you what Redditors… help us build this platform and I’ll make sure to make any future attempts at monetization completely free to Redditors! Scout’s honor. :)
