This happened to us last weekend. My wife called my phone and some lady picked up. This same lady had been calling and texting my wife and asked why she was calling. My wife would call my number and my phone would sumultaneously ring my phone and this other lady's phone, but it would go to the other lady's voicemail instead of mine. This is where it gets even weirder though. I asked my wife if she had installed any new apps. She said she had installed this in the last week: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fotoable.fotobeauty
I had her reboot her phone in safe mode. Every single non-google app was greyed out. EXCEPT INSTABEAUTY. We uninstalled the app and all of a sudden she could get through to my voicemail.
This app had the following permissions
Contacts find accounts on the device Location precise location (GPS and network-based) Photos/Media/Files read the contents of your USB storage modify or delete the contents of your USB storage Storage read the contents of your USB storage modify or delete the contents of your USB storage Camera take pictures and videos Microphone record audio Wi-Fi connection information view Wi-Fi connections Other receive data from Internet view network connections full network access prevent device from sleeping modify system settings install shortcuts uninstall shortcuts
Anyone who has this issue. Reboot in safe mode and see if any apps are not greyed out that you don't expect!
edit: Is there a place to report malicious apps? I could only find in the store where I could report "inappropriate" apps
