I have found the Kana Dojo app to be a great help with remembering both hiragana and katakana. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fastbreakapps.kanadojo
Someone recommended Kanji Tree the other day. I haven't spent much time with it so far but it seems like a really solid resource. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asji.kanjitree
Best of luck. I struggle at times with motivation to study Japanese, frequent short sessions seem to work best. Hope these apps help.
This is the best app i have found. It has a reference, flash cards, a quiz, and 2 different types of games to play one where is called eye spy. It shows you 25 kana and and then you match the one it displays at the top with one of the 25 and once you complete the 25 it makes 25 more and gives you 30 seconds plus the time you had left over. I find it is one of the best excersizes because it tests your ability to read random kana while looking for a certain one. and it is pretty tough at first but slowly you get better, i started yesterday and im up to 66 before time ran out! I figured out the best way to use this game is to first read off all the kana as flash cards(time is paused when ever a new set of 25 appears) and then to play the game so i get 2 great tools just in this one game! it has all hiragana and katakana, and lets you choose from the basic, voiced and combo im only using the basic right now but am about to test out the voiced and combo(which are the more complex kana like Da and the yo ya ones.)
Its also free and i havent seen a single ad! this creator is awesome!

To start learning grammar and all that stuff i'm using Tae Kim's guide, it's pretty complete as far as i can tell, but for memorising hiragana and katakana i was using this app for android called Kana Dojo, and i have yet to start with kanji tho, but for starting japanese i find this combo more useful than Duolingo or Genki, hope it helps.
