Struggling with kanji, and bored with Anki or WaniKani or whatever? Please give our game Kasui a try. It's completely free (no ads, no IAP, no permissions required), and as you play you'll memorize incredibly, erm, "colorful" vocabulary, such as:
... and hundreds more!
Get it on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.fzort.games.kasui
日本の方でも楽しめればいいと思います。Please let us know what you think. :-)
I think that the fact that my game is quite niche may have helped (I did promote it on a few forums for learners of Japanese). I also spent some time polishing it (way more than would be reasonable for a free game without ads or IAP), and my friend did some great artwork that looks really nice on the screenshots, which may have helped.
I get like 2-4 downloads per day.
I'm downloading "Let's Play With Particles" right now. :-) (Slow connection here, it's taking a while.)
My game has a bit over 1,000 active users. That's a very small number for a mobile game, but OTOH it's a very niche game. I got a couple of ~150 download spikes after posting about it on related forums.
Thank you very much for the suggestions and encouraging comments! The animations are definitely not final, the video was only meant to be shown to my artist friend (the hand sprite is just a placeholder I found through a search on google images, will end up making another one). :p Adding a tap effect is definitely a good idea!
The game has difficulty levels (earlier levels have fewer kanji), but I'm thinking of ways to make it more useful for beginners.
(shameless plug) The game is available for Android and can be downloaded from Google Play, but the published version doesn't have a tutorial yet. :/
Yours and Mattho's comment already made my day! Thank you! :-)
