Lookup is a good dictionary app. You can highlight the word, click on the vertical 3 circles, click "lookup" and the definition will pop up in a popup window. If you wanna save the word, click on the icon on the bottom of the pop up window and hit the star icon to save it.
Look-up does this. I know about it because the dev is around here somewhere.
I've also seen the OED's version of the same but I don't have it saved.
There is an app called Lookup that has this functionality with Google search, also can bring up a wiki article and several different dictionaries. It doesn't use the keyboard, but it does use the highlight context menu.
I recommend that app too, it's smooth.
I mostly use my tablet for classes and reading. If you're still looking for a reader app, you might want to try ReadEra or Moon+ Reader.
You might also want to try Look Up. It's a dictionary app that has a popup on copy feature (if your device is running on Android 9 or below). It's perfect for ReadEra or Moon+, imo. You just have to customize/tweak your reader settings to utilize the app better. I actually have the Pro version, and I think it's worth it. I hate leaving my reader app just to check the meaning of a word I encountered while reading. With Look Up Pro, I don't have to go through that hassle.
I also have Hermit on my tablet to make the sites (that I sometimes read or download from/on) I frequently use seem like lite apps. It's pretty light on my device.
First of all, thank you for your message. Here is the play store link for this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gaurav.lookup Actually, there were plenty of these tools before Google stopped the app from retrieving text directly from our clipboard. So, that's why in this app's introduction, you should see it once supported to pop up definitions right away when we copied something to our clipboard. Now, this method doesn't work on Android 10+ anymore. And that's why there are still many good dictionaries but few of them support pop-up interface. My point is Flexcil can do a simple pop-up tool like this by itself, and then allows users to add their own dictionary sources, which are widely available on the market. For example, like this free dict app - EBPocket Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.ebstudio.ebpocketfree It's simply a reader of some special formats, that it doesn't provide all entries but only reads the info from the .mdx files (a dictionary format) on our devices. Also, in the aforementioned app "lookup", it has several native open-source dictionary sources to choose and install. So, if Flexcil gives us a "share" button, we can choose the app that works well with it, but this will limit our choice because none of dictionary apps support all languages, and we have to find the right app for each language we need. But, if Flexcil offers its own pop-up window, displaying relevant info from our own sources, then we can say the built-in dictionary of Flexcil Android literally supports any languages.
You can use Lookup Dictionary search the word and star it. You will be able to access your stared words later. You can also add notes using it.
Nova video player, has a nice interface and it's FOSS
Material files is a simple file manager, it has a basic but beautiful interface. Also FOSS.
For dictionary Look Up is very nice.
I can't help you with the others.
This is a rare time where I'd recommend another app, just to avoid the need to open browser for a definition. I've been using this app for a few years now. Long press a word and find the "Define" command in the context menu. Easy peezy (or however you spell that)
Alright. It’s look up - a pop up dictionary which supports all major languages, Wikipedia google and urban dictionary. With other features like google drive sync translations etc.

Lookup has this option and you can have multiple search engines also, free version has ads and they are annoying so if you like it you can buy pro.
This is one of the feature of my app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gaurav.lookup
It gives a new word as notification everyday. Plus other features like select a word anywhere and press copy on 5.0 and older or look up on 6.0 + and you get the definition in an pop up. All offline.
