Hey there! I just found out that my app, Looxie was just featured in techradar's "100 Best Apps in the Play Store" list, which is a huge honor!
**Looxie is a great idea that’s currently lacking enough users to fulfil its potential, but is very worth keeping an eye on.
Essentially, if you want to see where somewhere looks right now – be it as vague as a country or as specific as a bar – you can just make the request on the app, and if there are any users in that location they’ll be prompted to send you a photo.
This could be used to see how bad the traffic actually is, how choppy the sea is, how crowded your favorite bar is or whether the supermarket is open, among many other things, but is likely to be used as much just out of curiosity about more exotic locales.
Want to see what the center of Tokyo looks like right now? Request a picture. How about the top of a mountain? You know what to do.
Right now there aren’t anywhere near enough users to reliably get a response, but you can help change that by downloading the app and taking photos that others request.**
<strong>Looxie</strong> is an app that lets you drop a pin anywhere on the map and request a photo from that location (or, alternatively, you can be the person that receives the request!)
If you receive a request, that means that someone wants a photo from the location you're currently at. If they specify no instructions (eg. "send me photo of the beach, please") just snap any photo of the area and send it to them!
If you send a request, you'll know that any photo you receive is going to be an exact representation of the area you received the photo from since Looxie
does not allow the photographer to upload a picture from the gallery but instead have to take it using the camera and
only contains a pathetic selection of filters (sepia, vignette and b&w) and does not allow any rotation, cropping etc. Verite, baby!
With users around the world and photos coming in from exotic (and not-so-exotic) locations, I like to call Looxie your window to the world!
With <strong>Looxie</strong>, you can send requests for photos at any location by simply dropping a pin on the map! Any nearby Looxie users will receive the request and will be able to respond with a photo (or even photos) from the area.
The twist? Anyone sending a photo has to take it by using the camera; there's no gallery uploading allowed so you know that the photo that you received is exactly what's happening at that location at the moment of capture!
By creating an account, you're entering our annual (skill-based) competition! Win a DSLR if you're awesome enough! :)
Looxie : sending photo requests to locations and getting back photos as replies!
It works like this: you go on the map, tap on the area you're interested in and send a photo request. Users around that area can then send you photos!
If you're a new user, you get the "First Contact" request that lets you send a request to ALL CURRENT Looxie users in the world. See how the world is right now. I can't promise you that you'll get a photo from every user (in fact, I can promise you that you won't) but you'll get some. I'll send you one for sure! :)
Hi there! I'm really excited and proud to announce our new app called Looxie released last week and already featured in PhoneArena's best Android apps round-up!
Looxie allows you to make location-based photo requests. You go on the map, see where other Looxie users are and drop a request to them. When they get the request, they can reply with a photo. It was really exciting to get photos from all around the world using Looxie(some countries I got photos from include India, Germany, the USA, and the UK).
Looxie allows you to level up too and unlock new abilities! When you send a photo, the receiver can like and and send you points. We will hold a monthly contest in which the persons will the most likes will be judged and one of the will be awarded the title of Featured reporter, with an exhibition of their photos (always with their permission, of course) on our website (looxie.co) and our Facebook page. Also, physical swag for the winner!
Our website: looxie.co
We already have some users around the world! Check it out!
<strong>Looxie</strong>, my location-based photo request app has received a huge update today! The app has been rebuilt from the ground up and it now looks sexier, runs faster and, more importantly, allows you to log in and register an account again. :p
A (very cheap) paid subscription is coming soon but anyone who creates a new account* by August 9th, 2019 will have all premium features activated by default. So, yeah, I guess this is my way of saying "REGISTER NOW OR REGRET IT LATER!!" in the best telemarketer impression I can do.
So, what does it do? It's simple: you request photos from specific locations using a map and you get photos from users in those locations. "But what makes this better than just searching for photos of places on Instagram?" I hear you ask.
Well, it's not better, it's just different: users that receive your requests can only take real-time photos of the locations, ie they cannot simply upload a photo from their gallery. This is pretty awesome because it means that when you receive a photo, it was captured seconds earlier so what you're looking at is exactly what's going on right there and then.
Anyway! I hope you'll enjoy the app, let me know if you find any bugs. To be totally honest, you will find bugs. As I've already mentioned, the whole thing has been essentially rebuilt from scratch so I expect some to pop up. Thanks for understanding. :)
*or already has an account, I haven't forgotten about you guys, thanks for your support over the years - you're getting all premium features for free
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app for Android.
With Looxie, you can request a photo by placing a pin on the map. Any users at that location will be prompted to send you a photo in return.
It looks good, it's simple to use and it is both free and ad-free! Moreover, by sending photos and receiving likes, you are automatically entering the annual Looxie competition and get the chance to win a DSLR camera. Learn more about the competition here.
This week, Looxie was somehow featured in both the Economic Times of India and The Times of India, which practically doubled our user base! So it's a good time to sign up. The more, as they say, the merrier!
Hi there!
My app, <strong>Looxie</strong> lets you request photos from specific locations.
You go on the map, drop a pin at the area you want a photo of and, if there's a user around (you'll know: users are -anonymously- visible on the map, if they choose to be) that's available to send you a photo, you'll get a real-time photo of that location! Perfect to explore the world.
Of course, the more the merrier, so if you're interested in the concept, see you there!
I'm also really happy about Looxie making phandroid.com's Top 5 apps of the week for the first week of February. That gave us a nice bump in users too.
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app, only on Android!
You go on the map, you drop a pin at the place you want a photo of and any nearby Looxieneers (just made that up to refer to Looxie users) will be able to send you a real-time photo of the location! You can even specify exactly what you'd like to see when sending your request.
If you like what you receive, tap the "heart" icon and reward them for their trouble while increasing their chances of winning a DSLR at the end of the year. Or, you know, start sending pictures and win the damn camera yourself!
Come join our <strong>Looxie</strong> community!
Looxie lets you send location-based photo requests to other users and get real-time photos in return.
Which means that you can go on the map, place a pin somewhere in (say) New York and any users that happen to be around will get a request for a photo. Those users will only be able to send you a photo that they took using their camera (no choosing photos from the gallery or anything) which means that any photo you receive is what is currently happening over there. Cool, huh? :D
Let's not forget about our ongoing competition to win a DSLR photo, more details HERE!.
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app for Android (and, hopefully, soon for the web too).
Looxie lets you send photo requests to specific locations by tapping on the map (and optionally, by asking for something specific). Other Looxie users at those locations receive your request and can respond with a (real-time) photo of the area, which means that the photo you're looking at is exactly what is happening at that specific location at the time you've received the photo.
Alternatively, you can be that one that receives the request, which means that you can be a sort-of reporter that responds to the request. Other people can like your photos, which means that you'll be collecting points that go towards our annual competitions!
Speaking of competitions, this year (that's coming to a close pretty soon!) the person who's collected the most points gets to win a Nikon D3300 DSLR. It's a bit late in the year, so, to be honest, the chances of winning the camera if you sign up now are pretty slim (only points collected during 2017 count, with winners to be announced in January of 2018!) but if you're into sending A LOT of photos of good quality in the next week, you could still be the one that wins. More info about the contest HERE!
Have amazing holidays, everybody!
Looxie is my location-based photo request app for Android! Simply put, you go on the map and place a pin at the area you'd like to receive a real-time photo of. Any Looxie user around can then take a photo at that moment and send it back to you.
If you like the photo, you can show your appreciation by liking it and sending points to the photographer that go towards their points total. The photographer with the most points at the end of 2017 will win a DSLR camera! Hurry up and send your photos, 2018 is almost here! More details here!. Obviously, you can also enter the competition automatically by downloading the app, creating an account and responding to photo requests yourself!
Want to ask for a real-time photo from a specific location? <strong>Looxie</strong> has got you covered!
Simply go on the map and place a pin on the area you want a photo from. As long as another Looxie user is there, they'll get your request and they will be able to respond with a photo.
People sometimes ask me "why use Looxie when there's Instagram and Snapchat out there and millions of people use it?". Well, what separates Looxie from those apps is
the location-based request functionality: AFAIK, none of these apps allows you to send a request to someone for a photo. Plus, on Looxie, no-one has to be your friend/follower/followee (is this even a word? probably not). You can simply send a request to anyone on the map and it's completely anonymous.
the real-time nature of the app: users can't just upload a photo from their gallery, they have to take the photo as soon as they tap the request. So you know that what you're looking at was taken at the moment (well, moments earlier) the user responded with a photo.
And as always, by downloading the app and using it, you're automatically entering our competition for a chance to win a Nikon D3300 DSLR camera! For the time being, there aren't that many users, so your chance of winning is really good. Plus, it's not a luck-based contest, it's a skill-based one. More info on the competition can be found at this Medium link.
Have a great weekend!
<strong>Looxie</strong> lets you send location-based photo requests to other users.
What does this mean? Well, imagine that you want to see if your favorite restaurant downtown is packed, right now. If there's a Looxie user there, you just send a request with a description (eg. "send me a photo of how crowded the restaurant is") and you get back a nice photo of how crowded the restaurant is (users have to take the photo in real-time, so you won't get a photo from a previous night or something that's outdated).
Of course, this hinges on an actual Looxie user being there in the first place, which is a bit unlikely at the moment (more people are registering by the day, however, since we've been featured in various "best apps" round-ups lately). So for the time being, most people are using it to request photos from various (exotic and non-) locales. Which is still awesome if you ask me (but, y'know, I'm the founder :p ).
Oh, also: we are running a competition throughout 2017. Winner gets to win a Nikon D3300 DSLR camera! More info here but the sooner you register, the more likely you are to win, since it's a points-based system.
Looxie is an app that acts as your window to the world right now!
It's perfect for dreamers, escapists and active people: drop a pin at a location and ask for a photo of the area from other Looxie users around.
Next update will bring the concept of the Nuclear Request to the app: users will be allowed to send a one-time request to every other Looxie user in the world. It will be allowed once and some of the most active users will be able to refill the request in the future.
Also, there are still 14 days left for the July 2016 Looxie competition! Simply register, respond with nice photos to requests, collect points from likes and from capturing venues and be considered for Photographer of the Month. Get your photos on our landing page with a credit. No need to do anything other than use the app! You're automatically entered.
Our website: http://looxie.co

<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app, only for Android!
You go on a map, select the location you want a photo from and any nearby users can send you a photo of the area. Big whoop, you might say, big whoop, so what, David Blaine?
Well, the twist here is that other users have to send your a photo they just took, they can't just choose a photo from their gallery. They means that any photo your receive will be a real-time depiction of the area!
Pretty soon I'll be updating the app to make it more modern, faster and full-featured. Essentially, I'll remake of from scratch. Any users registered before then will be grandfathered into all of the app's premium features for free, forever! So it's the perfect time to sign up.
Hey there!
With Looxie , you can send location-based photo requests to other users and see real time photos from their locations.
Looxie is free, ad-free, contains no in-app purchases and is a total work of love from me. Give it a shot, you may just end up liking it and sticking around. We've already formed a pretty nice little community in-app!
With Looxie, you can request photos from any location on the globe using the in-app map and (maybe, if there are Looxie users around) receive real-time photos in return!
And hey! We even made a promo video about it a couple of days ago. Possibly NSFW? I don't think so but some people may think so, so you have been warned!
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app for Android.
To use it, just go on the in-app map and tap on an area you'd like a photo of. Any users around can send you a real-time photo from the area.
I'm really happy to see Looxie taking off in the past couple of weeks, after being featured in a phandroid.com roundup and in the Mobile Roar podcast as a pick of the week.
And it's mostly because of you guys and gals here at Reddit, as far as I can tell. I can't thank you enough!
Since we've been getting some traction, I'd like to thank Looxie users by announcing that after an upcoming update (released next week, possibly next Saturday), any points you collect will go towards a 2017 photo competition. The user with the most points at the end of 2017 will win a DSLR (well, not a very expensive one since I'll be buying it :) ).
Again, thank you all!
Looxie - ever wanted to know what's happening around the world right now?
Looxie lets you send requests to users around the world and send you back photos from their locations.
Ideal for daydreamers, escapists, cosmopolitans & naturally curious people! Check out parts of the world as they are right now. Send specific requests like "send me a photo of the bar to see how crowded it is, please".
Use it for marketing. When you get a request, send a picture from your cafe, bar, shop! Make people come to you.
Hi there! I'm here to talk about Looxie, my location-based photo request app!
What does it do? Well, you go on a map, touch the area you're interested in, optionally write a description of what you'd like to see and any users in the vicinity can respond with a photo. If you like their picture, you can upvote them (tap on the little heart by the photo) and send them votes, which in turn help them level up and unlock more features in the app.
If that sounds like fun, go ahead, download it and let me know what you think.
As an aside, I didn't go for my usual navigation drawer scheme in Looxie, the main page is a dashboard from which you can perform any action you want. I did this as an experiment and to see if people like this style more.
However, it still has Material Design in spades, in the layouts and measurements, card-style info presentation, shadows and elevation and (mostly, and most importantly, I think) in the animations. I'm particularly proud of them, especially the one where you click on a looxie in the gallery and the pin and photo move seperately, with the pin pinpointing the location the photo was taken on the map and the photo being relegated to the corner of the screen.
Anyway. Give it a go! Thanks!
<strong>Looxie</strong>, my location-based photo request app has received a huge update today! The app has been rebuilt from the ground up and it now looks sexier, runs faster and, more importantly, allows you to log in and register an account again. :p

If you like the app, please take a moment to vote for it in the Noonies awards, Hacker Noon's first annual tech awards. It would mean the world to me if you did! It's in the Most Exciting Startup category. You don't need to create an account, just click on the vote button and you're done! Here's the link:

With Looxie, you can send a request for a photo at a specific location and receive a (real-time) photo of the location in return, if there are any Looxie users around. Looxie users can choose to be displayed on the map (or not - but most do) so it's easy to see if there are any users at the location you're interested in.
Use it to explore the world as it is right now!

Oh, by the way, I've printed some cute Looxie stickers and I plan on sending 10 of them to people that like Looxie around the world. If you want one, let me know!
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app! I am so glad to see people from all around the world using it to send amazing photos to each other!
For some weird reason, last week it was featured on ZTE's list of best apps for March 2017. I didn't even know ZTE had a best apps roundup but thanks, ZTE!
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app!
Go on the map, drop a pin on an area you're interested in and any users nearby (may) respond with a real-time photo from that area!
Now in the latest update (released about an hour ago)
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app.
You can use it to request photos from other users around the world by simply finding them on the map and tapping on their location.
It's fun and addictive, if I may say so myself. Getting a photo of what's happening right now in a faraway land (or even across town) can be very exciting!
I don't try to hide it: I'm an escapist and a dreamer. Perhaps it's the way I was brought up. Perhaps it's my neuroses overwhelming me and making me seek some sort of escape. Or perhaps it's the fact that I'm a dentist working all day surrounded by four walls that has prompted me to think "Imagine having an app in which you can request photos from all around the world about what's happening RIGHT NOW"!
Well, I didn't just think about it: I went ahead and actually did it! The result is Looxie, a location-based photo request app for Android 5.0+ devices. How it works: you install the app, register and go at the "Drop pin" section. That takes you to a map that shows the location of Looxie users (you can opt out of this if you don't want the app to show your location in the map, obviously). When you send a request to a specific area, Looxie users that are around that area can send you back real-time photos of the place.
Sounds good? It gets better: if enough users like the photos that you can send, you level up, gain new skills (want to send a text message to go with that photo? Level up to level 2 and you're golden!) and maybe even become our Featured Reporter of the month, with en exhibition of your photos on our website (looxie.co, the first competition is currently underway!) and out Facebook page! Plus swag in the mail!
Interested? Give it a go and let me know what you think!!
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my free photo request app and it allows you to request a photo from someone. Check out the in-app map to see where our users are and don't hesitate to ask them for a photo!
Looxie is not a photo sharing app in the same vein as Instagram or whatever the latest photo-sharing app of the day is. Instead, Looxie is mainly a landscape/architecture/design app for travelers and people that like to travel, either virtually or in real life.
Any photo you receive has to be taken with the camera (no gallery uploads are allowed) so you know that the photo is fresh and represents the location you're looking at at that very moment!
As I said, it's free and it's also ad-free!

Looxie is my location-based photo request app and people who like to travel and exchange stories & photos of their travels are going to love it!
Essentially, people use the app to send photo requests to any place in the world and receive real-time photos back from other users. It's a cheap and cheerful way to sort-of travel the world, see what other people are up to in their everyday lives and even get some info from places you intend to visit.
If you are into travel-minded and international affairs magazines such as Monocle or Conde Nast Traveler, this is an app you are going to want to install. Even the layout of the various screens of the app is magazine-inspired, with hero photos and cool typography.
The app is free, with no ads (I hate ads in almost all contexts). It does not share any of your private info with anyone and while (if you grant the location permission) it occasionally gets your location in the background, it does NOT keep a history of your location. Just your current location, so you can receive requests based on location.
Thanks for reading, hopefully you'll enjoy the app!

New this week:
• Bug squishes, mainly. The rest of the features I'm working on are half-done, but I'm preparing some really cool stuff, like the Expand Into Article mode, which will offer various magazine-style layouts that will make it possible to turn your photos into articles and share them with others.
Thanks for reading, hopefully you'll enjoy the app!

<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app, available only on Android!
Summary: you want to see a photo from a specific location. You go on the map, drop a pin on the area you're interested in and request a photo from any users that may be around.
Another Looxie user takes a photo (in real-time, using the camera - no uploading of old pictures from the gallery allowed) and sends it to you. This means that what you're looking at is exactly what the sender is seeing right now.
If you like the photo, you tap on the "heart" icon and the sender gets a warm and fuzzy feeling, as well as 5 points that count towards their points total, making their chances of winning a DSLR at the end of the year higher!
I've always considered Looxie's ideal usage season to be summer, what with people being out and about, traveling or relaxing and totally in the mood for taking (or requesting some photos). So download it, have some fun and let me know if you have any feedback!
I made <strong>Looxie</strong> for people that like to travel, take photos and share photos of their locations/hometowns/travels with other people.
The twist is this: people can request photos from other people on the map. Then people that receive those requests can reply by sending a photo back to the person that requested one. The photo also has to be taken there and then (not chosen from a gallery or anything) so that the receiver of the photo knows that the photo they received is an exact, real-time depiction of the area/thing that they requested a photo from/of.
We also have a competition running throughout 2017, through which you can win a Nikon D3300 DSLR camera and other prizes. It is mostly a competition of skill and not luck: the winner will be the person that receives the most likes & points from the photos they send. You don't even need to enter: by creating an account and using the app, you're automatically entered in the competition. More details about the competition can be found HERE!
With <strong>Looxie</strong> you can request photos based on location from users around the world. Users have to take the photos using their camera (no uploading from the camera roll/gallery) so you know that what you're looking at is exactly what's going on at that part of the world at that particular moment.
Free, ad-free and free to be wild, Looxie is my passion project app, so check it out if you're into mobile photography!
Ever wanted to see what's happening right now in other parts of the world? Looxie lets you ask other people around the globe for a real-time photo of their location!
I noticed last week that our Firebase-based real-time database will soon start struggling with having enough bandwidth to serve all photos on the current plan I have subscribed to, so it looks like this could be the last month I'll be able to offer Looxie (as it currently stands, with unlimited requests and received photos for every user) entirely free. I currently pay for a Firebase plan that costs $25 USD per month, so I don't mind it, but since this is a completely bootstrapped, on-the-side project, I couldn't justify paying over, like, $100 USD per month to keep it going (as much as I love it).
However, the current bandwidth limit should still be able to accommodate roughly twice as many users as I now have, so if you're interested in the concept/app, get it soon. Obviously, I'll grandfather any users that registered before any paid version is released into the full version automatically! I don't plan on gimping the app, even in the free version, just maybe limit the number of photos you can send/receive each month. I'll see.
Looxie lets you request photos from specific locations by placing a pin on the map at the venue/city/country/shop/whatever you're interested in! Any users that are there can respond by sending you a photo.
We are also very happy to announce that Looxie is featured in the front page of AndroidWorld.nl today! Such an honour!
Hi, everybody! I'd like to invite you to join Looxie and become part of a growing global community of mobile photographers.
Looxie allows you to send location-based photo requests to other Looxie users and receives photos in return!
We already have users all around the world (special shout-out to the US, Ukraine, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Cyprus, Greece and the UK for the incredible photos they are sending) but we also think that Looxie can work great on a local level: are you the owner of a business and you just had a request? Send a photo of your business and promote yourself. Do you want to see if a club is packed? Just request for a photo from that location. With a growing user-base, these scenarios could totally come true soon.
On the first login, you are also given a single-use First Contact request (my favorite Star Trek movie!) which allows you to send a request to all Looxie users around the world. It's fun and it'll surely get you some photos in return!
Looxie, a location-based photo request app.

In the latest updates, we have added some rudimentary filters (but you can use any third-party camera app's filters if it appears in the app chooser) but most importantly we added the Bulletin, an area that shows the three latest photos taken in the world that also allows users to comment on the photos and have conversations!
I'd love to have your comments on it!
Looxie is my location-based photo request app and people who like to travel and exchange stories & photos of their travels are going to love it!
Essentially, people the app to send photo requests to any place in the world and receive real-time photos back from other users.
Just your current location, so you can recieve requests based on location.

<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app, only on Android!
You go on the map, you drop a pin at the place you want a photo of and any nearby fellow Looxie users will be able to send you a real-time photo of the location! You can even specify exactly what you'd like to see when sending your request.
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app for Android!
It works like this: you drop a pin on a map (or select for a location) and then send a request to that specific location for a photo. Then users at that location can snap the photo right there and then for you (they can't send you old photos from their galleries) and you see the place they are exactly as they see it right now! Neat, huh?
Last week, Looxie got an update which added an announcements board in the app. I also made people scattered around the map but not actively using the app start to disappear so that inactive users won't clutter up the map anymore and you won't be sending requests to people that are not using the app anymore!
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app for Android!
Looxie was born out of my dream for the ability to have real-time photos of anywhere in the world. Just send a request to someone and get a photo back. And I did it: I created the app and it works. I (and many others) have gotten lots of photos from exotic, faraway places knowing that they were taken then and there. This is why I call it "your window to the world".
The only place I wanted to have a photo of but never received was the Mongolian steppe but I imagine it's hard to get good reception out there. Still, if you're currently in the Mongolian steppe reading this (somehow), help a guy out! :p
Next week, the winners of our 2017 annual contest will be revealed (prizes: one DSLR camera for 1st place and 2 books about photography for the runner-ups) and the 2018 contest will begin. So now is the best time to sign up and start shooting photos with Looxie, since you'll be collecting points for the entire year, increasing your chances of winning at the end of the year.
Looxie is my location-based photo request app for Android!
Use Looxie to request photos from specific areas, all around the world. Any nearby users can respond to the request by sending you a photo and a message. Photos have to be taken from the camera in real-time, so you know that what you've received is exactly what the other user is looking at right now!
More details here!. Obviously, you can also enter the competition automatically by downloading the app, creating an account and responding to photo requests yourself!
Looxie is my location-based photo request service.
It has been really fulfilling and exciting for me to see it being used by more and more people daily! The quality of the photos is often astounding too, considering that Looxie allows only minimal editing of the photos after taken.
As far as I can tell, most Looxie users come from Reddit, so thank you all for everything. :)
Looxie lets you send location-based photo requests to other Looxie users and get photos in return!
Want to see if your favorite bar is too crowded? Or maybe there's no one there? Have a burning desire to see what's up at Stonehenge? How about Times Square at this time of day? Is the sea too choppy - will you have to reschedule that surfing trip?
Find out by requesting a looxie from other users at those locations! Drop a pin on the map or just search for the venue / establishment / area you're looking for.
Looxie lets you request photos from specific locations! Users of Looxie at those locations can then oblige and send you a photo from the area they are in.
This week's update added the Bulletin, a section above the usual interface that simplifies some of the interactions and also shows you the latest photos taken by our users around the world!
Give it a try and let me know what you think!
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my free photo request app and it allows you to request a photo from someone. Check out the in-app map to see where our users are and don't hesitate to ask them for a photo!
This week I'm very excited, since I'm very close to releasing a very big update I've been working on for weeks: the Article view! Now, you will also be able to use templates (well, only one to begin with) that will let you write up to 500 words to accompany your photo(s) and they will be formatted as an article for others to view and read. This turns Looxie into an instant reporter platform and will let you promote interesting aspects of your hometown, favorite spots in the world etc! Perfect for shutterbugs and people that love to travel!
As I said, it's free and it's also ad-free!

Not exactly the same, but I enjoy Looxie. Only problem is there is an issue currently with registering/recovering an account. The dev is working on it though, so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Hey there!
With Looxie , you can send location-based photo requests to other users and see real time photos from their locations.
I am currently trying to add a new feature per week. Not huge features, mostly minor, experience-enriching ones.
This Week's New Feature: I Have No Request, And I Must Shoot!
Until now, if you wanted to take a photo using Looxie, you had to have a request from someone. Since requests time out after 24 hours, if someone hadn't sent you a request recently, you had no way of taking a photo. That made sense, of course, because if you wanted to simply take a photo than no one asked for, you had your camera app for that.
However, since the addition of the Bulletin (a section on the top of the main page, showing the last three photos taken around the world by our users), you may want to take a photo of a spectacular vista to share with the rest of the world on the Bulletin. Imagine excitedly going in your requests section to take the photo, only to find that you have no recent requests! Bummer!
Now, you can just tap the "I Have No Request, And I Must Shoot" button at the bottom of the page and you can take a photo that will show up on the Bulletin for everyone to like and discuss!
Looxie lets you send requests for photos to persons at specific locations. After receiving a request, they can send you a real-time photo from their location. You can even make specific requests to locations (eg. send me a photo of the beach).
I have been trying to add a new feature per week. It's slowly improving and becoming full-featured, more stable and more beautiful.

The app is free, with no ads (I hate ads in almost any context). It does not share any of your private info with anyone and while (if you grant the location permission) it occasionally gets your location in the background, it does NOT keep a history of your location. Just your current location, so you can receive requests based on location.

That's an awesome idea, but you should have dropped a link to the app. I got ya, though!
I want this on my iPhone, actually... I know we're in /r/Android, but I use both (phone runs iOS though) and if you want more users, you should go multi-platform, though I realize Android development has fewer hoops to jump through (cheaper and doesn't require specific hardware that adds to the cost). But, a lot of people are still under the impression iPhones have the best cameras. Since at least the Pixel 2, that hasn't been true, though they're still up there — but still, people buy iPhones just to have "the best camera." So you would have users, it would seem at least. And this service wouldn't work without users.
Love the idea though.

Looxie lets you send photo requests to any location you desire and (hopefully) get photos in return. I say "hopefully" because there are not that many of us right now, so it's quite unlikely that there's going to be one exactly at the location you're interested in.
Good thing that users are visible on a map, then! (with the exception of those that don't want to be, that is - all they have to do is toggle their visibility off). That way, you can at least see where other users are and request a photo from that location.
I know that there are tons of photo-sharing apps out right now but the twist here is that you're not allowed to share photos in your gallery: you have to take the photo using your camera. That means that any photo you receive (or send, if you're the one that has received a request) is exactly what the location looks like at the time you've received the photo. I think that's pretty neat!
As I've already said, Looxie doesn't have a ton of users (and, tbh, thank god for that because I don't need huge hosting and Firebase bills right now) but the ones that are already there send awesome photos. Yep, we have a super-cool community.
We also have a competition - and someone gets to win a Nikon D3300 DSLR at the end of the year. Check out this post for more info.
Looxie has already been included in "best of" lists by phandroid.com, the Mobile Roar podcast, AndroidWorld.nl, PhoneArena, TechRadar, ZTE (the phone maker) and more (I honestly can't remember everyone right now).
It contains no ads, no in-app purchases and is completely free. So how do I make money? I don't. In fact, I spend money on servers, hosting, Firebase etc to keep it running, that's how much I love it. If I decide to monetize it in the future, I'll try to come up with a fair way to do that.
Thanks for reading!
My app, <strong>Looxie</strong> got a huge push this week after it was featured in TechRadar's Top 100 Android Apps list. Lots of new users and lots of new photos from around the world!
I have been focusing more on stability and performance this past week and I have put out a couple of updates focused on that. I also added the ability for people to silence photo request notifications (as in, they'll still be getting notifications, they just won't get a sound or vibration. Due to the international nature of Looxie, some people may send requests to you while you're sleeping, so it's a neat feature to have, I think)
More awesome! This week, a new version of the app also enabled the 2017 Looxie Photo competition. First prize is a Nikon D3300 DSLR camera. You don't have to explicitly enter the competition, you automatically enter by creating an account and using the app. More details about the competition can be found HERE! Good luck!
PS. There's now a nice easter egg when tapping "Powerwash" in the overflow menu. After doing it, I sat there giggling like a madman. I hope other people enjoy it as much as I do! :)
<strong>Looxie</strong> is, as I keep saying, your window to the world.
In a world of vanity-centered, look-at-me photo social networks, Looxie is all about landscape, venue and nature photography.
Send a location-based request by dropping a pin on the map and request a photo from any nearby users, optionally describing what you want to see. Photos have to be taken there and then (no gallery uploads) so you know that what you're looking at is exactly what the sender is looking at right now!
Looxie is free, ad-free and contains no in-app purchases, like all of my apps. If you like Looxie (or any of the other apps) and want to help a dev a little :) consider visiting my <strong>RedBubble</strong> page, where I sell merchandise created using the Android 7.0 blob emoji set!
Not asking you to buy anything, though: just clicking and viewing a couple of the designs (or even better, liking them if you have a RedBubble account) will help immensely with ranking and visibility! Thanks, I appreciate it!

Looxie is my location-based photo request app.
Request photos from people around the world by selecting them on a map. You don't have to be friends with them, just select anyone and ask for a photo.
The twist is that people who receive requests must take photos with their camera and not simply select them from the gallery. This means that any photo you receive was taken a mere seconds ago and it is an accurate representation of the location you requested a photo from!
The app needs to know users' location to perform its function. I know that a lot of people rightly worry about their personal data and how it's used so let me make something clear: the app doesn't keep a location history. Your current location is sent to the server roughly every ten to fifteen minutes and when a new location is sent, the old one is overwritten. In addition to that, the app doesn't serve ads and it's not some elaborate scheme to build a mailing list with your emails, so that I can then proceed to bombard you with "offers" and "exclusive deals" (something which happens much more frequently than I realized). The only time Looxie will bother your inbox is when you request a password reset.
I know that your next question is "and what do you get out of it?" Fair enough: I get the satisfaction of seeing my app being used by people all around the world and awesome landscape pictures and comments by the community!
So if you like travel, or simply enjoy beautiful landscape/architecture/nature shots (Looxie is not really a platform for personal photos and selfies) give it a try and let me know what you think!
For support and feature requests, reach me at the email listed in the Play Store 😁

The twist is that people who receive requests must take photos with their camera and not simply select them from the gallery. This means that any photo you receive was taken a mere seconds ago and it is an accurate representation of the location you requested a photo from!
If this sounds intriguing, go ahead and download the app. It's a one-man-show (I designed the interface, deal with the backend and push servers and of course created the app) but I try to keep it regularly updated and add new features. It's free and ad-free so the only person that has to pay for the app is me - to keep it running. Which I gladly do, because I enjoy the process so much!
If you like travel, or simply enjoy beautiful landscape/architecture/nature shots (Looxie is not really a platform for personal photos and selfies) give it a try and let me know what you think!
i don't know if this is similar to what you're looking for, let me know

Looxie is my wanderlust-minded photo app! What you do is you go on a map, see the location of other users & tap on them to send them a photo request.
If & when the user you've selected decides to send you a photo, they have to do it on the spot: they cannot select a photo from their gallery, so when you receive a photo, you know that it's an exact snapshot of the location they've sent it from at that moment! Think of it as a real-time window to the world.
Perfect for these quarantined times, the app is free and ad-free. Coming soon is the ability to expand photos into magazine-style layouts and write a short (up to 500 words) article about the photo you've sent!
I hope you'll like it!
UPDATE OF THE WEEK: in order for the photos to offer more context, they now include weather and local time info!

<strong>Looxie</strong>, my location-based photo request app received a huge update last week!
It's simple: you request photos from specific locations using a map and you get photos from users in those locations (provided that there are users at those locations, of course)
If you like the app, please take a moment to vote for it in the Noonies awards, Hacker Noon's first annual tech awards. It would mean the world to me if you did! It's in the Most Exciting Startup category. You don't need to create an account, just click on the vote button and you're done! Here's the link:

Thanks! ☺️☺️
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app, only on Android!
You go on the map, you drop a pin at the place you want a photo of and any nearby Looxie users will be able to send you a real-time photo of the location! You can even specify exactly what you'd like to see when sending your request.
OK guys and gals, this is going to be super-short, since my 3-month old son is trying to force my right hand into his mouth (I'm right-handed) so here it goes:
Request photos from exotic and not-so-exotic locales. See the world as it is right now, since other users that you have requested photos from can only send you photos they have taken right then using the camera and not upload old ones from the gallery!
Thanks!
<strong>Looxie</strong> is my location-based photo request app for Android!
It works this way: you go on the map, find a place you want a photo from, see if there are any other Looxie users around that location and, if there are, you can drop a pin at that location and request a photo from there (and any other place in a radius of about 1km).
Users cannot upload photos from their gallery - they have to take the photo there and then so you know that the photo you've received is a true, real-time representation of the area you've requested a photo from.
Your request is customizable: you can ask for something specific. For example, if you're asking for a photo close to the Eiffel tower, you can attach a specific request like "send me a photo from the top of the Eiffel tower".
Coming soon: request channels, where you can ask for "graffiti" (for example) photos from any person around the world subscribed to the keyword "graffiti". I'm really excited for this!
Comments, suggestions etc are really welcome!
Thanks!
Antonis

Get Looxie and join people from all around the world! Send and receive real-time photos of your location and maybe even win a DSLR if you're awesome enough!
It's been great for me to see Looxie growing, with new members coming in from all around the world. I remember the first time I actually got a photo from Canada (the first international picture to arrive on my phone) - I was over the moon!
Thanks to everyone who has downloaded Looxie so far!
With Looxie, you can send location-based photo requests to anywhere in the world (well, anywhere Looxie users are, anyway!) and get photos in return!
The cool part? The user has to take the photo right there and then (no pesky gallery uploads allowed!) so you know that what you're seeing is what is happening at that specific moment in the area you've requested a photo from!
Summer's the perfect season for Looxie-ing! So go ahead and join us! As soon as you create an account, you're automatically entered into our annual win-a-DSLR competition!
As I'm preparing home screen shortcuts that will make Looxie much easier and immediate to use, I thought I'd post about it one more time!
Looxie lets you request photos from specific locations and receive real-time photos of that area from other users! We have a small but devoted userbase and I'd like to invite you to join us too!
Ok, back to coding those home screen shortcuts then (although you'll need Android 7.1.1 to use them, so I hope that you have a Nexus or Pixel device)
