Really? That's disappointing. The Play Store description says:
> This port allows you to both run and play existing LÖVE games and also to create new games directly on your mobile device!
Maybe it's implying you could develop LÖVE games on Android if you had an external editor.
You can create app for Android, and you can share the app with other people. Getting started is as simple as downloading LOVE for Android and following instructions there. Later on you can build your own APK with custom name and icon, but this version should be good enough for development.
Note that the framework is best suited for games. You can ask where is the screen touched and you have full control over drawing graphics. There are no UI elements in LOVE, you have to find a library for buttons, edit boxes and such. Also your app won't be so integrated into OS, for example it would be hard to make it default app to open content type or to share with other apps.
Löve2D uses LuaJIT as its scripting language and therefore is compiled "Just in time".
Just grab the Löve for Android application, create a "lovegame" directory in your storage root (/sdcard/) then create a "main.lua" inside this directory.
here's something I tried: app Tic80 makes it very much possible to make retro game. Plus that it's also self contained - you make music, sounds, pixelart, code inside the app. Engine Love2D is a little more complex, I used it wth Acode and it's plausible to make something proper with it, but you need separate software for sprites etc. Good luck mate
There were taken down since I did not want to update them for 64bit (too much effort)
But basicaly your game "build" (zip rennamed to .love) can be executed on any platform
Love2D android can be installed and then you can play .love files on your phone right away (asuming that game does not require keyboard, or that you have keyboard connected)
I even tried to write simple snake game directly on phone and it worked. It was not plesant experience, but it worked.
These 2 games were made in love. I should still have android version somewhere so I will try to add them on page (If I can find it). Both games can be unpacked back to source code if you want to take a look.
Yes, there is a love2D app.
Basically a platform for your games.
The latest chrome books can download directly off the Play store so I think this should be an option: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.love2d.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.love2d.android
I believe you can download it from the play store
that link is from the main site https://love2d.org/
Honestly I think Defold is the best option (as long as you have direct 11 somthing) and Corona SDK is also there along with Löve 2D.
Defold Has an in game Editor and tutorials that you can download.
Löve 2D On laptop you will need Atom to start your projects.
If you have no laptop then Löve 2D is a good option because it functions on Mobile.
Corona SDK Very powerful game engine with documentation of how to make a game.
You could try the android port of Love2d https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.love2d.android
You would need something like DroidEdit to enter code.
