I used a planner in high school but not really in uni (I just finished first year). Instead, I wrote it on my phone using memo widget so I would always see what I needed to do without purposely looking for it.
>I would be like: essay due mon, assignment due wed, read pages 100-150 today, practice from 3-4pm etc.
I also have a timetable widget to show me what classes I have that day at a glance. It shows me the course code, time and place. If you have clubs or other things to remember, write it down as soon as you find out the info (do this with mundane things like study times or questions you want to ask your TA as well if you are forgetful). It's good to get into the habit of writing things down because when you have a bunch of classes and little sleep, you can forget A LOT. If you want a planner, on the day something is due, I write in pen, what that thing is (ex. history essay due). Each day you can write what you plan to do for the next day and check mark things off so you can feel like you're getting things done.
For notes, try out your method and see if it works. For me, if there are profs who talk a lot, listen to what they are saying and write down the main points. If there are a lot of points on the slides or board, read the point and then write it down in a way you will understand. Sometimes the prof goes too fast and some classmates have called them out on it and the prof went slower (great!) but sometimes they just keep going, in that case I take a pic of the slide then summarise it. If you write by hand like me, sometimes the writing can become unreadable, in that case make sure to sit down after lecture and fix your notes so you don't panic when you go over it.
With the levels thing, I use a different 'bullet point' for each level, like the first is a filled in circle, the next is a arrow.
I know I don't really know much since I just finished first year but please make sure to get enough sleep and always go to class. I thought I could easily do these things because it was easy in high school but NO. I messed up sometimes and overslept (which I never did before this year). Also, make sure to have a study space where you ONLY study, like the library, or a desk in your room etc. Don't do anything else in that spot so you can completely focus.
If you have other questions please ask, there are other important things to be said but I don't remember right now. Sorry I can't quite answer all your questions :(
It's called Memo Widget
