I've memorized just about half of the last juz.
What I do to memorize is listen to a Qari recite the surah on repeat (3-5 ayat at a time).
Also get this app, it helps. Memorize Quran
Assalamu alaikum, sister. I use this app

It's also available on iPhone and there's a free and premium version. You just check off as you memorize and it'll keep track for you. InshaAllah it'll help you.
Wa alaykum as salaam.
I'm a convert and have memorized approximately a juz or so of the Qur'an on my own over the 6-7 years that I've been a Muslim, with good tajwid. My pace has increased in the last 2-3 years as I've been able to solidify strategies that work for me. During periods where I am actively trying to memorize the Qur'an, I memorize about an ayah a day (a short or medium-sized ayah, not a long ayah like Ayah al-Kursi and the like). Bear in mind that I really only spend about 15-20 minutes per day using these techniques, often-times while commuting. When I started I had zero background in Arabic or a language from an Islamic culture in which many Arabic words are present. I have taken very little in the way of Arabic or Quranic classes, not out of preference but due to time constraints.
Here is my strategy, in which I exclusively use my smart phone:
Wow, now that I've written all of this down, I never realized that I put so much work into developing these strategies. I would say they work pretty well. The last year, I would say that I'm able to memorize about 2-minutes of audio recitations in a week. A few examples of 2-minute surahs include Takathur, Ma'un, Humaza, and Zalala. 3-4 minute surahs like Ghashiya and 'Ala take about 2-3 weeks. Mulk took about 2 months. I've memorized about a third of Yasin, which altogether has taken about 2-3 months. Again, this is just with putting about 15-20 minutes of work in per day, plus incorporating the newly memorized ayahs into my daily prayers.
Let me know if there are any questions about this. May Allah SWT make it easy for you.
